wagner
Where's the hot spot to get raw materials to fabricate things in Columbus? Just picked up my welder and I'm going to need some material to build a welding cart, fab table, and some other projects I've got floating around in my head. Dharris89
I’ve taken scrap to Stargate Metals on Goodale Blvd before. They sell scrap too but I’ve only sold to them so I don’t know what they have.
Richard Cranium
If you're looking for cheap angle iron, I have bought bed frames from the Volunteers of America on Broad St. and chopped them up with an angle grinder with a cut off wheel. That's what I built my welding cart out of.

KentStateTsi
Metal supermarkets +1. Large selection of bulk metals and they have a bunch of small scraps and odd pieces that are discounted.

Rocky31186
Masser metals is a scrap place. If you go in the office and ask for some metal they may just give you some. Otherwise we buy from Benjamin steel at work.
Orion
Metal Supermarkets and Alro are the two that will offer the most from a supply standpoint. I'd quote you, but we don't do personal sales here.
NWill
Columbus Pipe & Equipment for sheet scrap. They have a few 1000 sf. of floor covered in random pieces. It's all cut into square/rectangular pieces. 14ga to 1" thick, 6" square to full sheets. They also have pretty good prices carbon sheet. Research alloys for random stuff. They stock some square tubing and sheet goods. They are very reasonable. Good prices on stainless sheet as well. Benjamin Steel if you want to order and have it delivered and have a forklift/business address. I pay $9.50 for fuel surcharge - less than it would cost me in gas to pickup myself. I haven't used Alro as their prices are insane unless you need 100 tons. I browse their site as a baseline and if I need something specific. If you're near Plain City (Industrial Pkwy.) and want miscellaneous scrap to practice on, let me know.
