oh8sti
More woke BS and LOL about trying to blame white people. We love Asian Porn, Massage parlors, etc. They are trying, but the numbers dont lie. It's got little to no traction compared to BLM because a most all of recent asian hate has been black on asian. Kinda kills the narrative.
greg1647545532
Why are suddenly so many people refusing to wear masks inside stores that have signs indicating they're still required? Do private property rights mean nothing in this country anymore?

zeitgeist57
Planet Fitness said they’re still requiring a mask. I comply, even though a lot of folks take them off after getting thru the door. Anywhere else they took down signs requiring a mask, I’m not wearing one as I’ve been vaccinated. Menards still strongly recommends wearing a mask. Most people are still wearing one so I’ll wear one too to make people feel comfortable. Panera, Rita’s, some local restaurants...no mask sign, I’m not wearing one. wagner
I wear one to make people feel comfortable even though I've got the mind control shot. It really doesn't bother me to wear one, but clearly, it bothers some people more if I don't, even with the shot, and I don't want to deal with them. I've seen too many public confrontations over masks to want to deal with the crazy people out there.
greg1647545532
Technically Ohio's mask order is in effect until today, but people definitely started not giving a shit when the end date was announced (in conjunction with the CDC recommendation). I've just been following what the signs on the doors tell me to do. At Dunkin' yesterday, only 1 other guy was wearing a mask. Then later when I wanted ice cream for dinner, you could almost hear the record stop as I walked into a Dairy Queen and about fifteen of Ohio's finest maskholes looked at me like I was wearing a turban. But the sign on the door still says mask required, so what am I gonna do? Ignore it like a dickwad? Not how I was raised. As an aside, this labor shortage has made going out rough. Expect to wait 2 or 3 times as long for basic food service right now. In any case, I didn't have time to wait behind 15 chuckleheads while the poor Dairy Queen employees struggled in what was clearly their first week on the job, so I went over to UDF for the first time in probably 20 years. UDF has really made a turnaround, by the way. Clean, delicious, no wait, and no mask sign on the door. So I didn't put on a mask. Didn't seem that difficult. gillbot
The labor shortage is terrible. I have been traveling for work and so many places are closed due to no staff or are severely understaffed.

Wease
As an aside, this labor shortage has made going out rough. Expect to wait 2 or 3 times as long for basic food service right now. This right here. I stopped off at Wendy's after my kid's soccer game on Saturday and the drive through was long and slow. So fuck it, I went inside. No one in line there, but I still waited around forever. I worked at a Wendy's in high school and shit would have hit the fan if we had customers waiting that long for food. Then it dawned on me, what you said above. They just don't have the workers right now, or ones that give enough of a shit. So sad. Working fast food and shit jobs helped me become the person I am today. We need more people to get that and want to work harder to better themselves. I can't figure out why there is a kid labor shortage. I know the unemployment numbers are up because the govt is handing out free checks, but seems like there should be plenty of kids that want to work right? 10phone2
they are working, but not in the low end fast food chains. with the rapid increase of starting pay in the cbus area thanks to the corporate tax cuts, it could be that were seeing in lower end fast food, the impact of even less skilled workers. sadly the fast food places on 5th ave where I work are still a shit show even fully staffed. my last three trips to burger king on 5th ave have included no beef due to grill fire, worker sucking on metal paper clip only to accidentally hand me said paper clip with my debit card, and wrong order. gillbot
A lot of the kids around here are lured into better paying positions but even then, there is still a shortage. Edit: the kids that are worth hiring are getting better pay at manufacturing jobs, and those left to handle fast food aren’t reliable. Mensan
People on unemployment getting the extra money (around where I am anyway) would rather collect unemployment than go into work. The majority of fast food workers are not high school students, and it's becoming more obvious. Students can only make up so many of the jobs that are available, the other positions need to be filled by other workers.
Otis Nice
Some are getting into the trades younger too. We've seen a slight increase over the last couple few years. Not sure of the overall impact on the service industry but the starting pay and even work is enticing to many of them and some are finally realizing that college isn't for everybody yet they can still end up having a really rewarding career. Tractor
I was just discussing this with my wife when I heard that our water parks can't get lifeguards this year. They are usually 15-16 year old people and I have been trying to figure out what happened because here we don't have anything else someone that age could do except fast food anyways. oh8sti
we have an entire generation of kids/people that consume social media at an unhealthy rate. What they see online they think is attainable and they are entitled to it. They dont realize most of it is fucking fake. The harsh reality is some people are meant to work the low income/starter jobs. Not everyone can be a CEO or a mogul.

wagner
The owner of Leash Electronics posted this on Facebook. Treating COVID like a political football and not taking care of things the right way is going to have consequences for years, I said this from the start. Randy isn't the only one talking about this, there will be a lot of successful businesses that fold due to shortages. Prices have spiked to insane levels in so many industries. Enjoy life while you can, it's going to be taking a turn for the worse in the next 6-10 months. I'm gonna bring to light something. Most people have no idea how bad things are getting in the manufacturing industry. But it's VERY bad. You already hear about auto manufactures having thousands of vehicles setting in fields because they don't have electronic chips for them. This is REAL folks. Everyday I'm running into more and more electronics parts that I can not get. They don't exist on this planet because they can't build the vast amount of electronics components quick enough. These factories where closed down for so long that it will take many years to catch back up. Think of it this way. If you have a company running at 100% capacity and all the sudden it goes to 0% for nearly a year. You can't make that up. If you bumped your capacity up to 125% it would take 4 years just to catch back up and stabilize again. And most of these companies can not go to 125% capacity. Most can not go over 100% because if they could then they would have already been at that capacity before all of this. The math don't add up. We are heading to a major technological crash. Imagine no new cell phones, no new TV's ,no new cars, ect... My business is falling like a rock now because Im loosing products constantly because I cant find parts to build them. I fear that Leash Electronics is going to crumble in the near future along with many other businesses. It's crazy, we went from up in sales 200% last year to down 50% in the last few months. And its steady dropping weekly as I run into new parts that I can't get. It's crazy because the demand it there but the supplies are not.
