She stay on there good....No problems with it movin/slidin around on 'ya? Been in triple digits with it?

I've only ever done the speed limit with mine...like we did on the hoggy run a couple weeks ago..

but my "friend" ;) has the exact same bike, with the exact same set up, and he hit the top of the tach in 5th gear with this thing and had 0 problems with it...

I completely missed this question.

I have had no problems at all minus the typical scratches you get from magnets on paint. It holds even at my top speed of 130 or mph. Minus the 10% of course. It did come off on my low side last year but not a scratch on it and everything inside was good including my camera.

It came with a sling and back pack straps. I have used the sling but don't use the backpack straps. I take it off the tank any time I go somewhere or walk around.

It has a pocket for a hydration bladder. I bought a off brand camel pak from Dunham's Discount sporting goods($9.99) and it works great. I use this on hot summer days when I will be out for a long time. It also has an audio outlet for headphones that should work nice but I don't use it. All I want to hear is my motor  Lastly it has a pocket with a attached rain cover I have used many times and works real well. As long as you put it on when it starts to rain.

This is all I can think of right now. Hope it answers you questions and any others you might have.

So most modern sport bikes actually have plastic over their gas tank and the actual tank (metal) is only the back half or so, the front half being the airbox. How do the magnets stay?

Buy a strap mount

I have a 2001 CBR1100XX, tank is still metal...

I've had no such problems...:dunno:

There are a lot of different factors that would make a difference. Mine has basically became a fixture on my bike, only time I take it off is to clean the bike, fill up gas, and when I go walk somewhere when I'm out and about. On my typical all day ride it might come off 3-5 times for gas and 2-3 times for lunch or any other reason I'm away from the bike.

Most of the scratches buff right out. But I do have a couple from picking up a thing or two on the magnets and not checking before I put it down. Not that it is a big deal to me. I expect some wear. I do have a bike to ride not to just look at. Plus it gives me a good reason to repaint the bike one of these winters when it gets bad enough and I don't have a maintenance that is more important.:D

I have a Tour Master TB-12 magnetic mount on my SV and it stays put -- tested into triple digits. (has provisions for strap mount too)On the whole, I like it a lot. The only time mine has scratched the tank was when a little piece of metal got attached to one of the magnets and then I put it on the tank. Very handy, but I don't have much to compare it against.

I keep my rain pants in there, and after seeing Lost's picture, I put both my Leatherman and Gerber tools in there too. (stock toolkit remains under the seat) It's big enough to accomodate my junk for a 3-day solo trip. (various car chargers, a couple bottles of water, a hat, wallet, phone, camera, snacks, etc, with room to spare)

Others have mentioned the map pocket. If you actually put maps in there, try to make sure you get one that doesn't require you to mangle your map. Mine sucks in this regard. I've put my dad's GPS inside the map pocket and that works well too.

Another thing regarding GPS's, get a free one. In Cleveland, Key bank (key.com) is giving away a free Garmin Nuvi 205w for opening a new checking account and two doing direct-deposits (or 2 automated bill payments) + 1 debit card transaction. Not sure if the offer is still going, but I know you have to have the transactions completed by July 17. They did a similar promo last year for 4gb Ipod Nano's, and I got one of those too (then closed the account). I'm not affiliated with Key, just happy that they keep offering stuff for free that I can use on my bike! I think the 205w goes for around $140-150.

Cortech has good bags. I just bought the 10 litre (& the saddlebag setup) & I worked great on my trip to the Deals Gap area last week. Don't buy too big of tank bag or it will interfere with your ability to tuck in (if that's important). The 10 litre seemed to work out well for this. The Cortech bags don't make your bike look shitty like some of the bags I've seen.

I've got the Cortech 21 liter magnetic and it holds all I need for the day at work and gym, plus warm & cold weather gloves, cell, the shoulder strap, rain cover and a balaclava.

I've had it on the ZX at 145 and didn't have a problem with it.
