Buddy of mine that I graduated high school with was shot & killed in the line of duty, 2 years ago February.Some of you may have heard about it, or heard me talk about it before.......Keith was a Toledo Vice cop. 15 year old punk shot him dead while fleeing. Keith left behind a wife & 2 kids. Our alma mater has already donated a full scholarship for his son. Looks like they're having a memorial ride for him up there Saturday. Here's a link to the info if you're interested. The move comes a month after the group 'Parents of Murdered Children' and the Lucas County Prosecutor's Officer called for convicted felons who have committed crimes locally to serve their sentence in a facility outside of Toledo and away from their victim's families. Detective Dressel’s parents, Larraine and Mike Dressel, say they were notified on Wednesday that Robert Jobe was moved from Toledo Correctional Institution to Mansfield Correctional Institution. They say they don't know for sure if it has to do the organized effort to get him moved, but they hope other victims will soon get to feel the same satisfaction. "A victim is victimized again when the criminal who committed this crime, killed their loved one, is right here in the very city that they committed the crime,” said Larraine, Dressel’s mother. Larraine Dressel says her thoughts turned to Robert Jobe a lot when she found out he was in prison in Toledo. Jobe shot her son back in February 2007. In April, Robert Jobe was moved from the Madison Correctional Facility to Toledo Correctional. The state said it was because he is now 18 and he will be closer to his family--which the state said was important to rehabilitating him. "I guess I was so upset that his mother and family could visit him,” said Larraine. “I have to go to the cemetery and visit a headstone with Keith picture on it." Jobe has been moved again. This week he was moved to Mansfield Correctional. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections did not say why he was transferred. The Dressel family would like to think it was because of all of the letters that were sent to the warden on their behalf. But the Dressel's say petitions are still circulating because there is still work to be done. "I think about some of the other people in Toledo who have the person who killed their son or daughter right here in Toledo where they see that person exercising in the yard, or like (Parents of Murdered Children Member) Les Robinson who would go to his son's grave and see the prison from there," said Larraine. Petitions are currently being circulated by Parents of Murdered Children. Anyone wishing to sign the petition can call the group’s hotline at 419-309-7759. They plan to continue to gather signatures until July, and then forward the petitions on the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
