I looked at a lot of stuff online, but wondering if there are brands that are not worth the money or not good quality. Meanie Posted April 9, 2010 Report Share Posted April 9, 2010 Best bet is to come to Columbus and hit Iron Pony. Try some stuff on and see what fits the best. Keep track of what you liked, go back home and search the inter-webs for better prices. All the big brands (Alpine Stars, Icon, Joe Rocket) are awesome. The First Gear, Fieldsheer etc are also good. The gear works like anything else you get what you pay for. Although searching the web and using IP's discount section allow you to get more for your money. I'm male obviously, but I'm looking for some woman gear now for my female friend. Iron Pony is an awesome place to find what you like, then go check online stores for better pricing. Iron Pony does have a great clearance section, with some really good deals. Just go all the way to the Right when you walk in. It's the biggest place around that I know of. In my Opinion, while they are costly, if you educate yourself, and read reviews, http://www.motoport.com/ has the best gear. Probably going to spark some type of debate by saying that though. Followed closely by http://www.aerostich.com/. (Motoport's site sucks, they admit it sucks. Kinda small company, keep very busy from just word of mouth more then from advertising.) The amount of Armor/protection in Motoport gear is simply impressive, and unmatched. No other way to describe it. You see it, actually pick up the jacket, and put it on, you Will feel extremely protected. They custom make them to your dimensions too. Machine washable, don't even have to remove the armor. Either one of those two though, I believe would very easily last you 10+ years. Anyways, she can't afford Motoport gear right now, but seems to like the Scorpion brand. Says it fits her very well, and is comfortable. I'm not sure for women, but I know in mens, they have a Tall version of everything too. Adds another 2 inches or so. Reasonable prices usually too. Teknic is also a brand that she likes. Some good deals on that brand usually. I don't know much about them aside from they have some type of relationship to Knox armor. Icon makes some cool looking women gear as well, but I personally feel they are over priced for what they offer. Paying more for design, then for functions.Competition Accessories (http://www.compacc.com/) used to be a great place to go (Springfield, Oh). Iron Pony dwarfs them now though. Nice ride to there, depending where you are coming from. I haven't been there for awhile though, but they used to have great clearance deals.http://www.newenough.com/ is an awesome online store. Never heard anything bad about them.http://www.sportbiketrackgear.com is an awesome place too. Their monthly specials are usually right up there with the best prices. They have great video reviews on almost all products that they have it seems like. I have shopped online a ton, and all I can find are 32 inseams which are just too short. I tried on a women's scorpion jacket today that fit fine, but I might have to go with men's pants. I did buy on off brand jacket from leatherup.com and am very happy with it. Xelement I think is the brand. Cheap but durable and armored. I have a vega helmet and have no issues with it.
