What would you do?

I kinda want a 2007 because the 06's had some issues with frames cracking at the welds and snatchy FI problems. $5k is my absolute limit, but the cheaper the better.

Here are the current choices I am considering. Help me make a rational decision.

06 in Indy. mileage unknown, sent email yesterday. $4500

07 in WV. 19k Miles with a Yoshi pipe, new tires and some minor goodies. $5700(listed on ebay @$5k)

07 in Danville Va. 4800 miles, new tars $5k

gone

08 in Akron 1500 miles retro kit, GP pipe? Rebuilt title. $5500

06 in Columbus 10,500 Miles, no mirrors $5100

Didn't bother looking at the other ads.... Since you say you really want an '07, & 5k's your absolute limit.... This one sounds like the one to me :dunno:

You can always swap the exhaust later & add goodies like some of the others have, later on when cash becomes available. This way, with this one, you get the base you want, & it already has a set of good brand, new tires, with LOW mileage

Only drawback seeems to be the "ROADTRP"!!! ;)

** BTW... I'm not usually a fan of how the FZ looks, but this one's pretty sharp

My name is max power, not Vmax power.

I wouldnt spend 20k on a new Vmax if I won the lottery. If we buy them at that price, Yamaha might get some ridiculous idea that they are worth that much. Kinda like Harleys.

^

But, you are right. They're a great and awesome bike.... just not for the price. It kinda follows with the whole "rich lawyers and doctors buying Harleys that they ride 300 miles a summer and thinking they really ride" deal! :)

I wish I could too, but that would mean a bike payment again and that was one of the reasons for getting out of the Vmax.

Here is a nice sv1000 I have been looking at these to replace the triple. with some heli bars and a corbin seat it would be nice. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/1715054231.html

That thing is nice. How much do Heli bars for it run? I need to be able to do alot of 2-up on whatever I get, and clip-ons are no longer an option.

Viffer? alittle over 5k but bet he would come down http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/1694927459.html

I tried to buy that bike. He will go down to $5,500 but the bike has never had the 16k service done and it has 20k on it. He initially told me he would drop the price to cover the service but then he changed his mind. He said his friend who previously owned the bike said that the service is BS and is not needed. Not sure I would buy a bike from a guy who thinks scheduled maintenance is BS.

With that said the owner seems like a decent guy.

I was always told that the pre VTEC Viffers were the ones to get. Is that true?

When did they start with the VTEC motors?

Pre VTEC VFR's are smoother, have cheaper maintenance and are gear driven. Many feel the 5th generation (98-01) are the best models as they have the pre VTEC but are still Fuel Injected.

Me personally I would have happily purchased a 6th generation VTEC model had the right deal came along but looking back I am glad I ended up with the 5th instead. It was cheaper and damn does she sound nice.
