SpeedTriple44444
I ride a Speed Triple, but have never gotten the hang of riding a wheelie. Just doesn't seem right. Anyone have any suggestions? In first, it will easily power wheelie, but it comes up quick. In second, it just doesn't have quite enough to get my fat (250 lb.) ass up without clutching it.How do I go about getting the feel for the balance point when it comes up so quick? Steve Butters
buy a cheap dirt bike for like $400 and practice on it...then resell for the same amount you paidpractice clutching it up, its easier than powering it

Disclaimer
Since when are power wheelies not enough for people? Go buy a 114 tooth sprocket.
Wicked1
Hold the clutch and rev it up in 2nd (while going 35) and let the clutch out and pull up. Its a lot smoother than powering.
Carwhore
just rev it up (idk what your redline is, but on a sport bike where redline is 15-16k, you would rev it to about 8 or 9) competly let off the throttle then jump back into with. Do this very quickly and when you give it throttle grab the handle bars and pull back.

SpeedTriple44444
Tried ^ that, and I can do it on a dip in the road, but it won't power up in second.

I think part of the problem is getting the guts to launch it up to the balance point.
RFM
I wheelied the hell out of my Triumph. I crashed too. Make sure you consider what life would be like with two broken wrists before you go hellfire for it. Maybe age has slowed me down a bit, but I'm ok without the whoolies now. gixxie750
any bike can wheelie with the chop method. Try it in 2nd and chop/push down on pegs/click full throttle then let off a little as the nose rises. Its almost imposible to teach over a keyboard. SpeedTriple44444
So , the idea is to load the suspension up, right?
gixxie750
yea,but the whole bike. Push down with all your weight as u throttle chop and then as it all sinks and motor studers slam on the throttle again as u stop pushing down on the bike as its re-bounding up. U will have wheelie then lol

warpspeed
drop 1 tooth on the front sprocket....or if you got monies do a 520 kit.I did the 520 on the honda and its a whole new beast. planning on leaving the trumpet stock its too nice to be doin squidly things
SpeedTriple44444
I'll probably go up a few teeth in back. I don't like the idea of too small a front sprocket... wears the chain out faster.
oldschoolsdime92
-1 up front wont hurt anything. I wouldn't go much more than that though.
cOoTeR
Get a liter bike. Then you can worry about trying to keep the front wheel down instead.
SpeedTriple44444
What do you mean? My bike is over a liter. The problem is the wimp between the seat and handlebars Yeah, I know I'm missing about 50hp compared to 4 cylinder SS liter bikes, but I can ride the Triumph 14 hours in a day and still walk the next day. cOoTeR
Lol my bad i thought the speed triple was a smaller bike. Guess I should learn more about non jap bikes. Lol. I'm not really a fan of doing wheelies, that's just another way to get me in trouble. My cbr pulls pretty hard so its pretty easy to pull it up. SpeedTriple44444
Well... I practiced just powering it up in first last night. It's really easy to get up to the balance point, but harder to stay in it once it's up that high. I don't know why I want to do this so much... but it is fun. I scared a couple bicyclists in my neighborhood (I live out in the middle of nowhere). I got looks of disapproval
LoTGoD
I'm on the fence about even trying. I have no reason to do it other than to say I did it.
