cashiers check is the same thing as cash because its the bank giving you "cash" not the person. i dont know how a scam can form from that?

becuase it can take up to a week for a bank to catch phony cashiers checks....by that time, the person has left with your shit, and you owe the bank however much the fake check was worth....cash a fake cashiers check for 10k, and then a week later it shows up fake, you now owe your bank 10k, and you no longer have your vehicle

There are a ton of fake cashiers checks goin around! If you accept one hold the title until it clears your account once you give the title over your screwed.

^ Good idea, but they only detect if the proper paper was used. They aren't 100% foolproof. It will catch someone lazy...but not the really good counterfeiters.

I've seen people go to the bank with the buyer and get a cashier's check that way. I guess that would be as close to cash as you can get.
