if you're replacing an old one, it should be a direct swap using the wiring diagram that came with the new. Different HVAC manufacturers use different wire color codes with no rhyme or reason.

Best advice I can offer up is to remove one wire at a time from the old and connect it to the new or at the very least take a photo of the old and write down what color wire went to what spot on the old T-stat

Just make sure the wires are right at the furnace end, then duplicate it at the thermostat end. The first link describes what each wire/terminal does, then the second starts talking about how a standard system is connected.
