Eating Alone

So I am sitting in a hotel room eating Taco Bell even though I get $20 for my dinner when traveling for business. I feel weird to go somewhere and sit there by myself and eat or even sit at a bar. Am I weird or do a lot of you guys feel like that? I should be eating a good steak somewhere right now on my companies dime but I am eating ToxicHell

I eat alone all the time. Take a book or mag to read while you wait- it ain't that bad!

+1. when I used to travel all the time this is what I would do. I would also talk to people I was working with and find a good hole in the wall place to eat. Always enjoyed finding local hidden gems.

I'm the same way. Fast food I'll hit the drive thru and eat in my truck if I'm by myself. I could see myself having a steak sitting at the bar of a place like Texas Roadhouse though. At least there you've got TV and a bartender to BS with. Sitting in a restaraunt you just have other random people to look at, who are probably wondering who that guy is by himself looking at them.

So now I'm not eating alone after all

I just got back to my room also. LOL! Down in Johnson City, TN for work. I do a little of both depending on my mood. I've gotten drive thru and togo orders from places and taken them back to my room. But there's been plenty of times I'd just head to Texas Road house or Outback (like I did tonight) or some hole in the wall place as others said and just sit there eating by myself. But I usually get a good conversation going with the bartenders or someone sitting next to me.

I wouldn't call it weird, but you should roll over that $15 savings from tonight and hit up a really nice place the next night. I've done that also if I wanted to go to a Ruth Chris' or something. But we get $35 a day for meals. :D

i dont feel weird eating at a bar by myself, or even the bar counter at a restaurant etc

When I used to travel alot I would try to find a Hooters or any sports bar

style restaurant like a BW3 or something, usually eating alone in places like

that isn't to bad.

I dont have any issues eating alone. If it is a long day or late night working on the road and I am not in the mood for people, it is fast food and back to the room. If it is a normal dinner time, i'll go to a place that has a sit down counter/bar like Appleby's or TGI Fridays. Usually the local people will tell ya where the good places to eat are.

I'm in Annapolis, Maryland tonight for work. Been on this trip since Monday, and I've been eating alone all week. Had hooters for lunch and a huge seafood dinner. I need to talk to the boss about getting some extra cash for these work trips so I can get an escort. That way I don't have to eat alone.

When work would send us to school for whatever reason or send us out of town to work! It was winking lizard or the flats in Cleveland, . F eating in the room! That is what sleeping is for! We got 51 a day for food. lite lunch and use the rest for a nice dinner.

who knows what you might find in the lounge :D

Order a small dinner for your invisible friend across from you. Ask your "invisible friend" why she is not hungry, and snack on her meal. Acting a little crazy is always fun!

If I'm riding and in my black leather suit, I enjoy suiting up (must have helmet and gloves on also) and rushing out of the restaurant like it's an emergency. It never hurts to have an alarm on your watch to go off and beep all the while rushing through the restaurant. After getting out to my bike, I wait for a black secret-service looking automobile to follow out of the parking lot.

Eating alone isn't all bad. When I was on the road for my old job, I almost always ended up pulling 12-14 hour days with my boss. The guy just didn't have an "off" switch.

Eating in the company of other people, while not actually having to converse with them was like a vacation.

If you don't bring something to read though, it can be really awkward. an iPhone has changed my entire world in that regard.

But there's nothign wrong with taking food back to the room; especially if the hotel has decent cable.

I used to have anxiety about eating alone, but since I've worked out of town for about 10 years, I got over it. No problems at all now. However, if I'm in the town I live in, and know a lot of people, chances are a lot higher that you won't see me out by myself unless at a bar.
