Steve Butters Posted January 28, 2011 Report Share Posted January 28, 2011 yea the paddle shifting or the little stick mode would be the same effect...i just prefer to downshift than use my brakes when conditions are bad...its more controlled IMOand a clutch is still better than the sport mode because you can control how much slip, or simply put in the clutch if you lose traction, etc....but sport shift is better than nothing for sure Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Beegreenstrings Posted January 28, 2011 Report Share Posted January 28, 2011 get a older ranger with the 8 foot bed. 2 wheel drive would be a easy load and unload since they set so low anyway. the 4 cyl get good milage and for the most part run good for a long time. Nice, low mileage, well equipped AWD Astros are available for $4-6k and they're built like tanks!Here is one guy's setup... I'll just rent a small U-Haul trailer for track days (15$ a day is bearable) until I move to a place where I have space to keep a trailer of my own. A pickup would be nice but having back seats with the Subaru is a big plus. I'm not in a huge hurry to buy, so I'm just going to keep an eye out there for the perfect deal to come by. If I can find a fairly clean, well-running, manual, 2nd gen Legacy Outback with less than 150k miles for the right price I'm going to jump on it. motociclista Posted January 31, 2011 Report Share Posted January 31, 2011 I'm confused by everyone saying that if you buy a Ranger or an S-10, you'll have to leave the tailgate down to haul your sportbike.I used to have a uber-cheap (no AC, manual trans., 4-cyl, 6-foot bed) S-10 that my father gave me when he was done abusing and neglecting it and it wasn't worth much. I hauled both my Speed Triple and Daytona 675 with the gate up and latched. I had to put the bike diagonally in the bed, and I had no room to spare. Wouldn't work with a cruiser.
