Is that not a violation of privacy? We have the right to privacy don't we?

If they hack you're account then that is a violation of your privacy. If you give them login info then there is no invasion, you consented. If you don't give it to them, they have a right not to hire you.

There is precedent that clearly shows that demanding access to private communications is illegal.

Here's a New Jersey case from a couple years ago where an employee was asked for social media login details "or else", then was fired because of private communication they discovered within that disparaged the employer.

The court rules that there was no legitimate business reason for this, and therefore was a violation of the Federal Stored Communication Act. The employee was awarded lost wages and punitive damages.

High end security contractor? Checking to be sure you dont have any ties to groups you shouldn't. Seeing just how prejudice you are, any number of things. I have seen these questions before with a couple of groups I worked with. Didnt make a lick of since once you got the job but before hand it was sure confusing as hell.

But no they have no reason for your passwords.
