Steve Butters
well i picked up a regular wi-fi kindle today at wally for $79...it apears the special offers are only in the menu and shut down screen and are not intrusive at all..i would have loved to get the 3G but i just could not bring myself to spend the extra $60 so with all the wifi hot spots in the world im sure it will serve her just fine..i was shocked to find out how many classic titles are available for free download that was a huge plus..i hope she likes it, ill find out next sunday...thanks for the info everyonedo you have to be in a wifi spot to read, or just to browse? can you download and read anywhere, then delete and download new books once youre in a wifi spot? 2talltim
yea the wifi is just to download, once you have a book on there you are good to go anywhere..plus it holds up to 1400 books and the battery can last up to a month without charging

You can read anywhere once you have downloaded the content.Whomever posted the pic of the library (forgive me for forgetting now that I can't see the post) good on ya! If your local library offers online downloads, you can check books out and read them for free, just like any other library book. psyco1
I bought a Kindle a couple of months ago when the new models came out, so far I love it so much that that's what everyone's getting for Xmas this year. I don't even notice the ads now unless it's for something stupid like Twilight and then I just make sure to turn on wi-fi when I'm at home so it'll get something with less gheyness.Oh yea, free ebook websites.http://www.feedbooks.com/publicdomainhttp://www.gutenberg.org/http://www.manybooks.net/http://www.amazon.com/s/?tag=kwab&node=2245146011http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=132http://www.baen.com/library/books.asphttp://www.hplovecraft.com/writings/fiction/http://www.free-ebooks.net/http://www.freebookspot.es/http://www.getfreeebooks.com/http://www.globusz.com/http://www.onlinefreeebooks.net/http://www.bookyards.com/http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/http://www.ebooklobby.com/
jblosser
I know the OP already bought his, but just saw an ad on the telly - Radio Shaft has them for $79, but they include a $10 gift card."...Radio Shaft - You've got questions, we've got blank stares..." ****** offense toward Radio shaft employees intended - some of the densest people on the planet. 2talltim
Funny that you mention RS I actually went there first to buy this. I checked online the store closed at 9 o clock, I pull up at 845 get out of the car pull on door of the store and it's locked. There is a guy walking around in the store he looks at me I look at my watch and point at the hours sign, he just shrugged his shoulders walk to the back in shuts the lights off. Needless to say they will never get my business again
