crb
http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot4.htmhttp://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot1.htmI keep an AR, 2-12 gauge shotguns, XDM 40, and a 1911 upstairs for HD. I would grab the AR if I had to go outside primarily or a SHTF, the Remington 870 and XDM are my primary Home Invasion defense weapons. speedytriple
Nice info, But what was the point? I know ANY round is gonna go through a wall. I read the links and saw nothing about shot gun rounds? And he also said that 12 PINE boards did not stop a .223 round. So that means its gonna go through about 5 of my neighbors houses before it stops? Looks like shot gun wins for home defense.
chevysoldier
I think a shotgun and handgun are going to be more practical inside the home. If that's all you have that that's all you have. I'd say it's got a better place outside the home for SHTF situtations due to penetration, distance and accuracy. Scruit
Just picked up a NIB S&W AR15 for $600. Nice. Added a couple of extra mags, 300 rounds of 5.56 and a sling and I'm ready. The place was HOT. Too hot, like 80F or something. Dang.In a panic situation my wife gets the Mossy 500 and I use the Bersa to fight my way to the AR. Over penetration is less of an issue for me because I live in the middle of nowhere. One hit from that AR is gonna do more damage than a full mag from the Bersa. I'm pretty confident that an AR is going to take the BG down much quicker than a pistol. Pistols are pistols, rifles are rifles. The Mossy is nice and powerful but very slow to reload. Scruit
Brits don't own guns. I have more guns in my house than that police station my brother works at.Although he's in England, so that doesn't count for much. I was going through the gun licensing process in the UK back when they announced the complete ban of all handguns. That was a scary time to be a believer in the power of the people to be free from an oppressive government. Not that banning handguns is the end of the world, but it does make the government disproportionately powerful compared to the people at large. I was going through the gun licensing process in the UK back when they announced the complete ban of all handguns. That was a scary time to be a believer in the power of the people to be free from an oppressive government. That could mean you have like 3 guns. Not that banning handguns is the end of the worldI really think that worldwide gun, not just handgun, bans would help to bring it to the end or at least chaos. If the people cannot stand up to their gov't, then there is nothing to stop them from doing anything they want. but it does make the government disproportionately powerful compared to the people at large.This. madcat6183
Ya I was there 10-12 and bought a tact. sling, and some 8mm ammo and .32auto. Really didn't see any great deals "on the tags" but I m sure some talking could get prices down. Overall today Vance's came out with their flier and Bushmaster 5.56 with red dot is the same price I paid for my SW MP15 Sport, and I would have loved to get that Bush but whatever.Ammo prices were average at best too, they did have lots of Wolf etc. for cheap, but I hadn't shot anything that cheap yet and had just picked up some TulAMmo to try and had no issues with it.Not going back today, it was like an oven in there and some smelly people. Scruit
I can't get over how hot the place was. My wife was planning to be there with me but bailed at the last minute - good thing too. The heat and crowd density would have made her flip out. I guarantee they exceeded the maximum occupancy of that space. Walking from one end of the room to the other took several minutes due to the tables being so close together - if two guys were stopped looking at guns on tables either side of a "corridor" then you had to go single-file (if there were skinny) or brush past them. There was heavy 2-way traffic between tables so even one person stopping to look at a gun on a table caused a traffic jam. If there was an evacuation it would have been a disaster.Oh, and I parked out front on the broad street side and entered the mall through the north entrance. After buying my AR they pointed out I had to exit through the south doors, not go back into the main body of the mall. Ok, fair enough - but now I'm standing about a 1/2mile walk from my car holding an unloaded AR and I'm NOT ccw (due to the no-loaded-guns rule) so anyone who knows the no-ccw rule can just come up to me and mug me for the AR and I have no way to defend against it. Not like I could load up the AR right there and then. That was a long scary walk back around the west side of the Sears to get back to my car. speedytriple
That's why you carry your bullets or a spare mag in your pocket. When you leave the show just put themas back in. What I do at least.
