Scruit
Was missing a couple parts that I had to track down (NOS stuff is a swine to track down), but finally making progress.History: Had some overheating issued on the way back from trail ride so I started looking at the engine. Decided to rebuild it. Took the block to be magnafluxed - cracked. Bought a new engine, but figured while it was apart I'd look more closely at the frame.Found this:So I had to fix that - 6 of 10 this bad. Then got to work with painting:And starting to reassemble:The chassis will be like new when I'm done. The only part of the braking system that I kept for the truck was the pedal - everything else is new. New fuel system (tank, pump, lines) and all u-jouints/seals/bearing for the driveshafts are new. Only keeping solid metal parts that were not rusted out.Should be fun to take my 8yo offroading. He's not been yet. That crappy year withthe flange-mount hubs. :-P Gonna cost me $600 to get regular hubs. Gonna stick with these until they break.
Scruit
Penis envy?Maybe. Funny thing is I actually removed the lift I had on. I'm back to stock height. It was a body lift just to clear the bigger tires. But as it turned out I never needed it. And it caused all manner of problems. Fan didn't line up with the shroud, ebrake lines didn't reach any more, fuel fuller didn't reach... Just a mess all round.I'd get a suspension lift but honestly I never had a problem in the offorading I was doing. For me the issue was ground clearance under the pumpkins or just deep mud. The only answer to both of those is bigger tires. The 8.8 axles don't like 37" tires, so if I want more ground clearance I'll go with military axles with drop-hubs.
