Physicians are trying to be a bit more careful about that now with insurance coverage for physicians being so high.No such thing as "routine" surgery, lots bad can happen fast.....trust me. One of the most dangerous times is coming out of anesthesia, the body can go into shock and the blood pressure bottoms out. Everyone also reacts differently to anesthetic agent, and many cannot use any of the 3 agents that are used because it will give them a severe life threatening reaction called malignant hypothermia.
