What makes Nugent a patriot?Just talking? He never served in the militery, let alone combat.

Oh well, according to that article he'll either be dead or in prison by April if he's a man of his word.If anyone wants a bet,my money is on him not being in prison or dead after April.

He did have one good album...the self titled album "Ted Nugent".

Its talk. Like all the liberal f-tards who threatened to leave the country if W was re-elected, but are still here (unfortunately).

What says that you have to serve in the military to be a patriot? Uhm, nothing.

What makes him a patriot?

He's a patriot because he loves this country as it was founded, and he speaks up for it. He's a patriot because he SUPPORTS our military unreservedly. He's a patriot because he supports the Constitution (vs a liberal who thinks its an "old outdated piece of paper").

Are YOU a patriot?

I see we have a different definition of the word patriot.

Talk means nothing.

Service from veterans is what has keep this nation free for over 200 years...they are the patriots.

Am I a patriot? Not by your definition,as I said talk means nothing to me.

And I'll be happy to take that bet if you think Nugent is a man of his word.Or is it just more Rush/Beck B.S.?

Your definition is wrong

Main Entry: pa·tri·ot Pronunciation: \ˈpā-trē-ət, -ˌät, chiefly British ˈpa-trē-ət\Function: noun Etymology: Middle French patriote compatriot, from Late Latin patriota, from Greek patriōtēs, from patria lineage, from patr-, patēr father Date: 1605 : one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests

Best guest at the state of the union address? If Stockton wanted to stand beside a real patriot he should have taken this man...

Maybe when Stockton and Nugent are talking about how patriotic they are, just maybe they'll glance over and see what a real patriot is.

I don't think so.Read the definition you posted and tell me that solider doesn't embody that definition.

If you want to cheapen the word patriot by appling it to people that do nothing more than talk,or support an agend, then have at it.Call me wrong, but I will ALWAYS respect those who serve and sacrifce over those who talk.

Just remember the old saying..."the last refuge of a scoundral is patriotism".A scoundral will never do what that soilder did,but they will talk.

You don't have to be a patriot to be a hero. The man that jumped into a freezing pond in Columbus last week to try to rescue a child is a hero, regardless if he was a patriot or not.

So are you saying that you're a veteran? If so, thank you very much for serving.

My dad is retired USAF, and tried to get me to join up. I didn't, so I must not be a patriot.

I love this country, and it tears me apart to see what is happening to it. But, I'm not a patriot.

I think that the Pledge of Allegiance should be part of morning announcements in every school in this country. But I can't be a patriot, because I didn't serve directly (though I went to every new assignment with my parents for 18 years, and went to 14 schools in 12 years).

I wish that better government classes were taught in schools, so people would understand whats going on. So people would understand what this country was founded upon. But I can't be a patriot because I didn't serve.

I actually agree with you about Veterans keeping our country free, and I can't imagine the frustration that they must feel by having their powers neutered and being told that they can't carry loaded weapons in some combat zones. Under W, and under Obama. They've both worked at knocking us down from being a superpower. Our military is the base of being a superpower.

The thought that you have to have served in the military in order to love your country and be proud of it is preposterous.

And just because someone served in the military doesn't automatically mean that they ARE patriotic. The Muslim who shot up Ft Hood a couple of years ago is a good example. And no, I'm not questioning your patriotism, nor anyone else who served. I'm just making that point that your blanket statement doesn't hold water.

Thanks for making everything so clear and "logical", and you are spot on IMHO. Patriot turns into patriotism, and neither requires serving in the armed forces.

As I said in my previous post...call me wrong,flawed,whatever...I really don't care.I repeat,I will always respect those who serve and sacrifice over those who talk.

If that makes me wrong...I'm o.k. with that.

Like your talking? Many ways to show patriotism and many ways to in fact be a patriot, and being in the military has nothing to do with it. Yeah you are way off base, and for sure have a skewed way of looking at things.

Thank you.If more people in this country had a skewed way of looking at things maybe it wouldn't be in the mess it's in.

No.... if more people had opened their eyes during the previous 4 years, things might be better than they are now. This country is in a serious state of flux due to many people making bad decisions for all the wrong reasons, many will realize how bad things are going to get soon enough.

I would agree with that statement if you would have said the last 30 years.

It's even worse than it appears...we are in a death spiral.

The amount of hand-wringing you people engage in over such a broad and academic concept such as "patriotism" never ceases to amaze and entertain me. It just seems to be a neverending dick-measuring contest over who loves America more, who's the most jingoistic, who can recite the Pledge of Allegiance, all that stuff.

Your reading comprehension must be lacking. Where in any definition of the word patriot does it say military service required? Nowhere. Where did I say the soldier you posted about wasn't a patriot? Nowhere. Never did I say you need to a patriot to be a hero or a hero to be a patriot.

So by your terms a person who works in law enforcement putting their life on the line keeping the country safe can't be a patriot if they weren't in the military? What about contractors overseas? People that are support staff to the military? People that build military equipment? None of these are patriots?

No offense to those that served honorably but I know several people that served and are pieces of crap. They didn't enlist because they were patriotic, they enlisted because they couldn't get a decent job elsewhere. The military took them they did 4 years or less and still don't give two shits about this country.
