I have been reading this forum on and off for a while now so I figured I would introduce myself. My name is Brad and I live in Middletown. Ok, I've been thinking about getting a handgun for a while now. Ever since finding out that my fiancee's dad and brother are the biggest gun dorks in the world, actually. I figure it will help me get to know them, and hey, it's that added security that I don't have. That said, I'm still kinda intimidated by the though of having the capability to end someone's life with the twitch of a finger, ya know? Sure, on a bike, i can do the same to my own life, even somebody else's. idk. Guess that's why I'm asking here. You guys all seem to want to help out a newb, and I'm more confused than I think I should be. If I got one, I wouldn't want a 45, or anything else that will be unnecessarily clunky or heavy. A gun is a gun. As with bikes, there is Total Control by Lee Parks, I'm sure there is some sort of great read for beginners to guns... What might that be? Any opinions on my best course of action, though? I still have about 3 months before I'm 21, so I'm not looking to buy anything now anyway. Just getting a feeler.

Short notice, yep. Oh well y'all know the drill but this one will be a lil different. My Fire Dept is having a fund raising lunch/dinner thing all you can eat chicken noodles and mashed potatoes, drink and desert for 6 bucks 1100-200 right down the road from my house. I'll be there cooking serving or something so come eat. At 2 we'll all head up to my place and shoot up everything in sight and blow up whats left with Tannerite, bring pumpkins if you've still got em laying around. Full belly and guns what more you want. The lunch is at the Community Center the addy is 68 N State st Frazeysburg. Head north at the only light in town and you'll see it. All guns big and small welcome, if you've got a clay thrower or targets bring em and whatever else you wanna bring. We'll prolly kick back and drink a few beers afterward as usual and tell lies so bring your flavor . Wifes, Girlfriends, Kids ect are all welcome. This will probably be the last open invite of the season as it getting cold and we're gonna start killin deer and turkey.

I got my first shotgun at 19. First handgun at 21 was a 1911 .45 gi model. Wish I never sold it. My 9 year old has a .22/20ga that is a kid having a gun not a 21 year old.(it stays in my safe) I would suggest going to a range and checking if they have any nra basic handgun classes. Start there or ask your girls dad and brother to help start ya out. Try a few guns first and then decide what you want to buy.

Use the internet, we don't post deals anymore, people tend to get upset thinking they may be losing business if the price is better then a sponsors. I mean I got nothing.

So i havnt been on in a while and i didnt see the "gun" forum section on here. deleted? So ill post here. I just purchased my first gun, a Mossberg 500 12g combo (deer and turkey barel) in the mossy oak camo pattern, from Vances for $330. I did some research and basically it came down to the mossberg 500 and the remington 870 as for which one to get. I ended up going with the mossberg because it just seemed like the best bang for the buck. Ill let you know how it works when i finaly get to shoot it hopefully soon. Hopefully ill get me a good size buck this season too. well see.
