As you all know (or should know), May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. In commemoration, we're going to have a virtual blood drive. Sounds hilarious, I know. For your time and generous blood donation that could very well save someone's life, I'm going to give you a free one year Supporter subscription. If you're already a Supporter, you'll get a one year extension. Here's all you have to do (it's rather simple actually): Step 1) Go donate blood. Anywhere. I don't care. Step 2) Take a picture (or have a picture taken) of you giving blood. Before. During. After. Whatever. Step 3) Post the picture here in this thread before the end of May. That's it. Once the picture is posted here, I'll take care of the Supporter part. It's a win/win. You possibly save someone's life AND get a free one year Supporter subscription. For places to donate blood: http://www.redcross.org1 point

I'm guessing When I took drivers ed you were just a twinkle in your moms eye. I never said the cops would agree with me. If someone in a cage is pacing you there's the option to either slow down or pass. If youre on a road that has a passing lane slowing down may not be your best option.1 point

That's why they're rules not laws. If people followed these basic rules how much better and safer the roads would be. YOU should have it tattooed inside your ass, that way you can read it more comfortably without trying to pull your head out.1 point

One day I will formalize this but as it is "5 Simple Rules of the Road". 1. Left lane is for passing, if your not passing or getting into the correct lane for an exit or interchange, Move to the right! If we all followed this rule there would be a lot less traffic issues. If you are trying to be a control freak and MAKE me go slower remember you are partially responsible when I take a greater risk to get past you. After I passed you, there is no point in speeding up now. I will get no trophy for being faster and in fact I might just occupy that cop ahead who's looking for his next speeding ticket recipient. Thank you for letting me by, I'll be on my way. 2. Road construction, we all hate it but by passing in the shut down lane you are ultimately slowing us all down even more. So don't be surprised we have no interest in letting you merge 10 feet from where that lane ends. In fact, expect me to honk at you to express the group frustration with your need to be a dumb ass. 3. If the phone is ringing, the kids are screaming or something else is distracting you, you are to busy to be driving. Safely pull to the side of the road or nearest exit, park the vehicle, address the issue so that you can pay attention to driving. You never know when some other distracted driver will be on the road not paying attention to YOU. One of you needs to be looking out. 4. Have you ever slammed your hand in the door? Imagine how much worse it is when you slam your car into someone. Watch out for people walking, biking and motorcycling on the road or sit at home slamming your hand in the door till you understand. 5. Hear that siren? No? Turn the radio down and maybe you will. I was tired of that song anyways, although thanks for sharing your crappy music with me. Feel free to share these rules with anyone who thinks they already know the rules.1 point

This is borderline psychotic behavior. Get angry, sure. Punch a mirror, eh I've done it. Stalk them and throw things, with the intent to damage their vehicle? This isn't Mad Max. A better option for you would be to get a dashcam, and report it. Or... Make a giant list of all the people who have ever annoyed you and go vandalize their homes... I would expect with you on a 250, you wouldn't have the small penis, big ego syndrome, but now I'm not so sure.1 point

Seems like a good setup, but I have a few questions to make sure you are getting what you like Have you actually listened to the speakers? What kind of speakers people like can be highly opinionated and what I like isn't necessarily going to be what you like. What size room? Dimensions? That setup will probably be good in most rooms unless you are trying to get reference/theater level sound. The good thing is, you can upgrade the mains and sub later if you want it to be louder. Speaking of the size of the mains. I would like them to go a little lower, since they only go down to 86hz. The general rule is to try to cut-off your mains no higher than 80hz. Everything that's cutoff from the mains will go to the sub, and above 80hz you can start to localize/pinpoint the sound source. Having said that, I have towers that don't go super low and my cutoffs are set at 100hz and I don't notice it. Receiver should (probably) be good for what you want to do, I really like that price point and it's got most of the options I like to see. Something to keep in mind is that new receivers will be released within the next few months that will be 'better'. But since this receiver is near the end of it's cycle it should be less expensive now, and when the new one is released it will be closer to the MSRP. A nice comparison in case you want to cross shop anymore. http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/how-to-shop/2011-600-a-v-receiver-comparison-guide Dependent on the size of the room, I would like to see a bigger sub too. But that one should be fine unless you have a huge room and/or want to listen at reference levels. What's the price of the sub if you don't mind me asking? Why not the Monitor Sub8/10/12 that paradigm suggest to pair with your front stage? The only reason I ask, is that unless you are getting a 5.1 package deal, you can probably get more bang for you buck from one of the online sub shops. Again, having said that, I have about the same size sub and it does fine. Granted, my living room is smaller at only about 10x14x8 and I'm in a townhouse so I can't really crank it up. The only reason I went with the sub was, like I mentioned earlier, it was in a package deal with a 5.1 setup so it was pretty much 'free'. http://www.hsuresearch.com/ http://svsound.com/ http://emotiva.com/ I really like the specs on the Emotiva subs for the money. A post listing budget (sub $300 subs) http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1364182 Why the in ceilings? I'm not a big fan as they will always be a compromise. I can't really speak to the TV much as I haven't looked at them lately. AFAIK Sony makes some very nice TV's so it should be good. I got a Samsung a few years ago, but if I were going to look now I would definitely check out some of the nicer Vizio's. From everything I'm reading they offer an excellent picture for a good price. Cables... if I were worried about price I'm going Monoprice. But I always spend a few extra bucks and go with http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ They also have another division, a little more expensive, http://www.tartancable.com/ To say that I really like this company is an understatement. They are a (relatively) small US based company which uses (some, where reasonable) US sourced components, in a field where everyone else is big and selling 100% Chinese made goods. They make very good products, and in spite of that and being based in they US with US sourced components are very reasonable priced. They also told Monster Cable to kindly Fuck Off when Monster tried to sue them, like they do every other company in existence where they think they can get away with it. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/legal/mcp/index.htm They will always get my money and suggestion to others. That setup should make you very happy, just some food for though. Maybe it's just me, but I have a tendency to over analyze my purchase so I make sure I'm getting what I want.1 point

For the past 3 weeks my bike has been in the shop and finally fixed her all up. Went through a little bike withdraw and rode all day yesterday and rode to work today and a little bit after. So I'm filling up my gas tank since I nearly ran out....again(you'd think I'd listen since the last time I ran out, haha). As i'm filling up I see this goose going about it's business picking in the grass and I finish up. Start the bike, as I'm on my way out, what do you know....that mother fucker flew at me and smacked the back of my helmet and attacked me! Of course i'm in 2nd gear going about 10 mph so I can't do anything about it. I finally stopped due to traffic. Round two, ding ding ding. that fucker comes flying at me head on and nearly is on my tank trying to peck my face. ridiculous. that was my daily ride.1 point

Rain days are a lot different then regular trackdays. You don't go fast and its all about being smooth. Not chopping the throttle, being smooth on and off the brakes, and getting your lines up well beforehand. Also, keep in mind that all tracks are different in the rain. Mid Ohio is about worthless and not worth it. Nelson has a fair amount of tracktion, but you can still eat it. I'd imagine PIRC is pretty compareable with how the surface is. As for gear, pretty much what the others day. I got a big blue oversuit last year and that kept me pretty dry in the full rain, but not sure I'd do it again for $30. Maybe if it was black or a cool color (Though, I did stay dry and had a great time)1 point

In any other context, reading about how much a bunch of guys "love the stick" would incur the wrath of a thousand gay jokes. Here, I have to agree. Bicycles have two pedals, automobiles have three.1 point

Geese are fucking mean. I would have executed a cross-throat stab with my kershaw, concluding the engagement, then pluck, gut, season with olive oil, salt, pepper and Rosemary and bake at 350 for 20 minutes per pound. Serve with mashed taters, corn and asparagus paired with a nice German table wine, either a Rhine or a reisling. Mmmmm, delicious.1 point

You carry a plastic handgun in a plastic holster, 10/22 with a wood stock works fine but isn't cool enough? WTF is wrong with you? Prejudice much? I say this thread gets moved to R&R & we ban the offender until he can fully embrace the superiority of polymer.1 point

Would you like a cookie? Or donut? Now be a good lil piggy and find out who drank my fucking powerade the other day so I can rip them a new asshole. J/k, but seriously who cares? I thought about becoming a cop, but Jesus, all the bullshit they have to go through everyday, although who likes their job anyhow1 point

This past week I: Wrote 0 people for speed, stop sign, etc... Wrote 11 people for driving under license suspension... Responded to a reported robbery in progress and had to go in with just one other guy and a 14" shotgun... Charged 4 people with disorderly conduct for engaging in fights in the street... Investigated a child porn case and secured a search warrant, looking at charging under state code for numerous pandering related felonies... Responded to a burglary in progress (while off duty, getting the above search warrant signed)... Responded to 2 or 3 domestic violence calls... arrested one... Arrested 5 people on warrants... Unlocked 7 or 8 people's cars for them... Gave directions to countless people... Performed over 4 hours of foot patrol... Handled 2 unruly juvenile calls and played social worker and daddy... Offered advice to numerous people who came in to the office with general non criminal questions... Handled 4 child custody disputes... Sat stationary at numerous locations in response to citizen's complaints about speeders and reckless drivers... Assisted another local agency with checking numerous areas for a kidnapping suspect from another state who had 2 kids he had abducted... Recovered a stolen car and arrested the person in possession of it... And attended the city council meeting where they cheerfully discussed laying me off since the city is broke.... So, yeah, fuck you. Cops do nothing but write bullshit tickets.1 point
