  1. In Obamas defense, the administration "doesn't know anything" before we do. Obama finds out from the news just like we do. So he really had no way of knowing it was going to rain. I'm sure Carney will back that that up as well. This space intentionally left blank to avoid offending anyone 2012

  3. He has come along pretty far from his original diagnosis of a complete spinal cord injury and highly unlikely he would ever walk again. It's been about 8 months since his accident, and he's able to walk for about an hour using forearm crutches. He recently started driving out of pure frustration, just got in his truck one night and took off. Doing good with it so far, just avoids rush hour traffic. So overall he is doing better than expected and making slow but steady progress. I'll actually get to see him tonight. (he lives in Florida) My parents are coming up with him for a visit. He hasn't been able to leave home much since he's been going to rehab 4-5 days a week. He's finally to the point where he is allowed to get away for a week.

  4. I know there are a lot of people out there that do not like this stuff. Say it's a poor man's answer to a paint job. I understand... I've been hearing more and more about this stuff and the ONLY reason why I even considered it is because it can be removed really easily. I was on the verge of selling my bike and decided to see how it would come out. If I didn't like it, I could take it off... I took all the fairings off when I painted them and got everything done besides the tank. I'll get that this weekend.

  6. Greetings, My name is Sean and I heard of Columbus Racing from tinman/Matt. I'd like to meet some fellow minded car enthusiasts around Columbus. In the past I owned some more "exciting" cars including a turbocharged integra GSR (287whp) and a N/A GSR and am looking to get something new to legally race soon. Every car I've owned so far has been a Honda, though I will likely get a WRX, BRZ/FRS, or something similar in the future. Currently I have a 1999 Accord v6, which is a good daily driver. My latest project has been redoing all the speakers and I'm installing a subwoofer. A little more about me: I play a lot of guitar and work at a pharmacy. Trying to get a new job and/or head back to school for computer science. Cheers, Sean

  7. I looked into it and am familiar with it, and no I don't believe I will pursue that. My beliefs toward what, you kind of lost me there? And we do not have the right to do as we please, that is why laws are put in place, even when those laws are up for interpretation. Just because I choose not to open carry, and just because I choose to cooperate with law enforcement even when "the gray area" comes into play, doesn't mean I am any less of a patriotic American and value my freedoms and rights any less than you. I will pick my battles and I will stand and fight for much worse situations and degradation of our rights. Police no doubt handle the open carry situation very poorly in many instances, but many times only the bad situations and confrontations are readily known "like Dayton". FOR EXAMPLE: You would whip the guys ass right in front of his child, who made the stupid decision to sit his kid with a melting ice cream cone on your motorcycle, I would handle the situation differently. Does that make me a wussy or less of a man for not resulting to violence, is it worth scaring that kid to death seeing his stupid Father getting a beat down? That is why me must choose to open carry, not carry, or concealed carry, but we have a choice don't we? Police acting this way toward open carry is nothing new, has been going on way before we started video taping them or recording them. So until all Police get with the program "not gonna happen", I have no doubt this will continue to be a touchy subject. The police were very wrong in the Dayton situation IMHO, but many will feel he could have easily avoided that by making some different decisions. That is life........ Glad I am still your friend, because you feeling differently toward me over something as trivial as this would be sad.

  8. And I have seen several people drop off a relative and then visit them regularly. My One lady I knew went to the library and got a new book every few days, and went to sit with her mother in the nursing home and read her a story, every single day during her lunch hour. It didn't matter that her mother was so senile that she couldn't respond to the story, all that we knew was that her mother smiled the whole time Yvonne was there. Don't let your personal experience leave you jaded. Some places are good, some are bad. Some schools are good and parents are involved in their kids' education, some are bad and the parents expect the teachers to raise their kids. Some cops are good, some are bad. Make individual judgement calls based upon the specific cases.

  10. I think my point was pretty clear in my original post. You've just chosen to not aknowledge it. As far as your question of "what makes someone think they're his or her type?". I can say the same about the gender that I am attracted to. The fact still remains that I must be segregated from that gender in certain situations and a gay person does not.

  11. Likewise, the president also has fanboys and nutswingers who refuse to aknowledge any actual failure, misstep, or mistake and retain the belief that this president is their god's infallible gift to the known universe.

  13. The point is that it doesn't matter what the president does or doesn't do, he has critics that will use any and all percieved lapses in judgement, no matter how miniscule, minute, or insignificant as collective evidence of a fundamental character flaw that they can't wait to expose to the world.

  14. I personally don't think this means what you think it means. Maybe this is a battle that needs to happen (again), but all these Youtubes of people baiting the cops to argue constitutional rights are certainly accomplishing a goal of creating more awareness regarding the laws around the rights to carry, search and seizure, etc. But I think the general public are going to land on the other side of the fence, stating that they can't believe it's legal to walk around openly carrying a gun, including fully loaded "assault" rifles. I think the only reason they don't know is because it doesn't happen very often. The problem here is that most non-gun owning individuals (notice I said non-gun, not anti-gun) would think an individual walking down the street with a rifle on his back is a potential threat. I know I would, and I'm really really pro-gun. So these people call the cops, and then later find out that the person wasn't acting illegally, to the shock of the people calling the police. Now imagine this scenario happening more and more in our current anti-gun climate, and here comes the anti-gunners touting a new "common sense" measure that people shouldn't be allowed to walk down the street openly carring a gun. My perception is that most Americans would agree that this should not be legal, as it is impossible to determine an armed individual's intent, creates panic, blah blah blah. My perception, and it could be wrong, but I doubt it, is that the general public would agree that open carry should NOT be legal. The only reason that it is still legal is due to the lack of awareness. Whether or not it remains legal after people become more aware is yet to be seen.

  15. This is true. I know I said thanks to everyone here a hundred times already. But just so you all know again, between this bike raffle and a benefit held by my family we raised just over $30K. He said he would've been in a world of financial hurt and in danger of losing the house he had just bought if we didn't do it.

  17. crossposting again. somebody asked for rest-of-car pics. Not much to see right now, since it's in a small garage - but here are some clues as to the car's aesthetic condition: Someobdy boinked the fender, but the guts are straight I think: http://i.imgur.com/8EKRQUB.jpg?1 This is the access panel. (heh) http://i.imgur.com/90qaRTq.jpg?1 Hm. http://i.imgur.com/eNalO1S.jpg?1 She's been around: http://i.imgur.com/EcMwmnb.jpg?1 Step 1: remove steering wheel cover.. some sun fade and bolster wear. http://i.imgur.com/msHfL3P.jpg?1 The dash is pretty good, the 4-spoke wheel is present, and the carpet is bone dry! No weird mold or anything. I removed the factory plywood (sigh) and found the motronic unit in superb condition, with only a handprint on it. Attribute this to the still-intact battery tray, right? http://i.imgur.com/meT83oy.jpg?1 I found all manner of interesting things under the seat - a raffle ticket, some black eyeliner, sunflower seeds, cigarette butts. Know what I didn't find? A french fry. Doesn't every car on the planet have a mint condition french-fry in it somewhere? Wife named the car 'Vicki,' she figures it's proper for an aquanet-soaked 80s party girl with an affinity for dark eyeliner, cigarettes and sunflower seeds. This is a departure from our other cars, Inga, Helga, and Olga. Shrug.

  34. I haven't been on very many group rides. Last year's dream ride was one of my first and UP did an awesome job leading the fast group. I didn't know the roads and that left me slowing more then necessary and not being able to follow his lines. I didn't rush, every time I thought I lost the group, there they were... Waiting on the side. Pace is an individual thing... While the leader sets a group pace, your pace HAS to be dictated by your knowledge and skills. Also, as others have said, the conditions of the road. I like the "no full throttle on exit" idea... Retaining corner speed is something I need to work on and when you take away extreme braking and full throttling, this gives you more time to evaluate your cornering abilities. Thanks for the reminder and helpful info!!!

  35. Excellent post. I would add that the pace is not only dictated by ones abilities but also by the surroundings. Use your brain and make good judgement. Even if you can keep up it doesn't mean that you should. Not all group leaders are smart and many push limits in areas that should not be pushed in. If it isnt a safe area to ride at elevated speeds, then dont do it. I would love to meet some new folks to ride with, but after riding with a few numbskulls with more testosterone than brains, I am reluctant in doing so.

  36. Alright I'm home I'm battered and bruised. There is video just how much I don't know. My bike is definitely totaled. Doc says I'm incredibly lucky that all I did was fracture my L3 + L4 vertebrae "winglet". Says there's no worry on being paralyzed since the fractures aren't part of the vertebrae that houses the spine. Other than that, my entire left side is bruised like hell. I did have my camera rolling and Its safe to say there will be no video of this. To much incriminating evidence. Suffice it to say, I was riding far outside my limits combined with speed. I was head southbound on this road that ive ridden a hundred times as I said It was a combination of stupidity and riding outside my skillset. I was ATGATT as usual, but this day was just stupidity taking over. below is the map of the road prior to of and where i landed. I was traveling southbound when a combination of speed and stupidity caused me to hit 2 culverts and go airborn, the first culvert is north of the phone box by about 100 ft, the second culvert is next to the phone box. My bike and I landed about 175-200 feet past the county road side on the east side of the road. The point marked with A is approximately where I left the road. http://goo.gl/maps/UORDO
