Clearly we disagree about what a squid is. I was always taught that a squid is anyone who doesnt wear gear and rides in an unsafe manner.2 points

Anyone interested? I used to go to the ama vintage races back when they had them in canton at the stark co. Fairgrounds. Now they're in lima. Flat track is always fun to watch. http://www.westernreservemc.com/default.htm Post up if interested, would be cool to get a group to ride out for a day at the races.1 point

My response prior to all the testosterone setting in: Find a new job. I worked for a pretty awesome company years. Stuck with them until the end; we went out of business in 2006. There were only 10 of us. On our last couple days we were paid to write up our resumes, do mock interviews, establish contacts (setup a Linkedin account), ect. The CEO of the company went over our resumes to ensure they were well written. They also setup several interviews for us. We were given 1 month severance and unemployment. It took 1.5 months before I landed job in my career. I took a 7k year pay cut. I needed the job and they knew it. Since I had no job, I had little to no negotiating power. My one request was that I got a performance review after 6 months. That didn't happen until after 9 months and after my bi-weekly reminders. I busted my ass; went the extra mile. I've never had as hard of time growing within a company as I did at this one. There was a shit ton of negativity between my technical director and our "manufacturing manager", who was also the Chief Financial Officer of the company (<--- yeah, what company that has any chance of success does that? AND that was the guy who signed my paycheck. Bullshit). Anyway, after 3 years of nickle/dime raises and broken promises, enough was enough. I had been keeping my eyes open for quite some time for other opportunities and found one. I sent my resume off, and in less than a week got a return call. Within the next week, I was interviewed and given an offer. I even negotiated a better wage (which was already MUCH better than what I was currently making). It was so fast. In less than two weeks of sending out my resume, I had a new job. This is my fifth year there, and I've made great growth since my employment. My point is: screw a severance and the risk of having no bartering power. You look more appealing employed. The amount of money I lost in those 3 years was greater than a 6 month severance. Maybe even more if counting loss of growth within a shit company. And working in such a negative environment is toxic. There's better out there. I highly recommend this book, "What Color is Your Parachute". This book was given to me by my first company mentioned above. It's immensely valuable when finding a new job (why and how to network, what to put on your resume, how to conduct a good interview, ect). Good Luck! http://www.amazon.com/What-Color-Your-Parachute-2014/dp/1607743620/ref=sr_1_1/189-3817420-9922138?ie=UTF8&qid=1394754623&sr=8-1&keywords=what+color+is+your+parachute%3F1 point

Let's just make voting online, at home. Enter your SSN and call it done. Oh, what about the illegals? Or the poor without internet? Funny how the dems push for no ID's because they'd lose so much of their voters.1 point

Yep, you can get a car that you really like, and a payment that will be pain free. eliminate the immediate depreciation of a "new car" from the equation.1 point

how do we get one of them to post up here to tell their side of the story? maybe it's just an office romance gone wrong, docking ended in catastrophic failure, and now they are bitter jilted lovers posting love letters on each other's tool boxes.1 point

My group tends to ride fast, but only in corners. We typically don't give a shit about going fast in a straight line. I can't say that I've never broken 100mph on the street, but it's not part of the normal pace.1 point

You're only a squid if you are wearing your kilt and war banner whilst riding in flip flops to Starbucks.1 point

Also, if you forego insurance, you can't just enroll when you get sick or injured. There is an enrollment deadline.... So this whole narrative about someone signing up when they get sick is a non-issue.1 point

Cars, unlike motorcycles and AR-15's, don't make your penis bigger. So just get a used car you like that isn't too expensive. Paying cash or near cash would be preferred. Then some day you will grow up to be just like me. Early 50's and don't owe anyone anything with substantial cash in the bank. Actually I was in this position in my late 40's.1 point

It is interesting to see the growing interest in smaller engines lately, how long until we see a "Super Ninéré" adventure version.1 point

the cheapest lead acid I see for that is Sears.com and Rakuten.com 22.15 w/ about 9.50 shipping the cheapest AGM is widely available, the BikeMaster brand. About 30-32 bucks with 9 shipping. Big Bad Powersports is showing $30.67 with free shipping. (Normally priced at around $53.00) Probably older stock they want to move. With free shipping (if true), the AGM is cheaper than the lead acid. The correct Yuasa battery is YTX7L-BS (a premium AGM) BikeMaster shows MS12-7L-BS is their equivalent battery Which is the Product # 780740 linked at Big Bad Powersports1 point

Squid is a newb rider with no gear, not as to how a person rides. I am far from a squid and my group hits those speeds everytime we ride. Can happen to anyone, don't be a hypocrite. You've done it too.0 points

Let me post an 'article' from Casper's favorite internets for idiots: http://rt.com/news/stem-cell-study-retraction-070/ Now let me post a link about the same issue from the 'lamestream' media: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/11/business/one-author-of-a-stem-cell-study-calls-for-its-retraction.html?hpw&rref=business&_r=0 Many of you may immediately dismiss the nytimes article but if you actually read both of them, one has actual detail, does'nt try to cloud the reproduction of the research, and one just includes all the 'OMG' with minimal explanation of how this actually works within the scientific community.. You see, it is easy to report in such a way as to totally disregard the scientific method when ones readership doesn't want to be bothered with the pesky details and the 'messiness' of actual science. When we drop links without researching the issue because we want to believe, we are doing a disservice to each other. Now come on and get my negative rep up over 40, otherwise I will just have to think that you are all part of the 47%!-1 points
