  1. Please join me at Quaker Steak and Lube bike night June 8th for the kick off of bike nights! I am receiving the Saved By The Helmet Award from motorcycle Ohio at 7 o'clock. It would be great for me to meet as many of you as possible, especially those of you that donated enough money for me to continue therapy needed for me to get out of a wheelchair!! This is big for me and I am so nervous and excited at the same time

  2. I hit a deer in April 2008 and had all the gear, FF helmet, armored jacket, gloves, boots. Pitch dark at 9:00PM on a two lane road with poor lighting. Hit the deer then a mailbox, the front wheel stopped in a drain ditch and I landed about 15 feet from the bike in the drain ditch. Bike was totaled (see photos), I had broken collar bone, broken shoulder blade, a few stiches from a jacket grommet cutting into my arm and a bunch of bruises. ATGATT for me, if I didn't have the gear, can't believe I would have escaped with minimal medical problems. According to Wisconsin DOT 2% of car-deer accidents end up in human fatalities versus 84.9% of motorcycles-deer encounters end up in fatalities. BTW, the nurses and doc's in the ER at Metro General cheered when they found I had wore all the gear, a week earlier a MC-deer fatality occurred with a rider without the gear. I beat the odds.

  3. Roads have been wet all day but I don't think a single drop of rain has hit me. I made a couple detours to make sure that's what was going to happen but I have enjoyed the roads I've been on. I'm clean and dry buy the bike is filthy. I'm sitting on the south side of Charleston getting lunch and th e radar looks like if I hang out here for about a half hour more or so and then head for route 3 I'll finish my day dry. Here's to hoping

  5. At my hotel in Galax 430 miles today. Mostly avoided the interstate maybe only 30 or 40 miles worth. Avoided most of the rain maybe only 1 hours worth, but my gear did it's job and I am dry as a bone. WV 3 and wv 10 were awsome roads but WV 71 was a cow path. Did some nice routes through VA but that's where I hit most of the rain.

  8. I have been thinking about something like these for a while. After my accident I learned jeans are no protection if you go down. I have riding pants with CE armor I wear over jeans which works fine but overheats my ass like crazy. They are vented, but still not enough airflow to stay cool. If you get something like these, let us know how they feel while on the bike, I may try something like this myself.

  9. Awesome, thanks Tonik. I feel 10% more hateful already.

  10. With your bike and size, I would start at 36 front and 40 rear, go up from there if you are experiencing accelerated rear tire wear or cupping. Your bike is light enough that I would not worry about cupping at those pressures.

  11. That is probably what I will do.

  12. Ok, then Tim and I leave cleveland at 9:30, see you at Sheetz in New Philly at 10:30 unless you get up at the crack ass of dawn and do your own thing. Route looks like this: https://goo.gl/maps/gK9mW7dcRQs

  13. You can buy just as much bike for half that amount. Unless you are specifically looking for that bike and you want new, otherwise there are many great bikes for $2500-$3500 that leave room for more/better gear.
