  3. This has been the busiest year of my life so far. Hence why I havent been on or gone on any rides. First got married Sept 19. 3 Weeks later while on honeymoon in Nashville found out we were pregnant. Wedding night baby apparently. Had been house hunting. In Febuary we found a house. Closed on the house in March. got the keys April 21 since then I gutted and rebuilt the bathroom. tore out old tub surround and plumbing. placed new tub and tiled the surround.

  5. Had a fun ride with two moto brothers from the great Canadian north down here riding the WNF area on GS1200. They camped overnight at Begley's Campground and we all three met up with a Ohio group and started a Adventure Ride. When the Ohio group broke off for lunch we continued on and before we went two miles the GS'ers wanted to "hit some trails" So we jumped on WNF Purdum trail to Dorr run loop and finished on the main over to camp Ohio trail then went on gravel, dirt, asphalt stuff till 3:30 pm back at the camp. We were finished, exhausted. They were great people to ride with. Another crap Video, No Music, 131.5Mi. 32.6 avg.speed 4:01moving time. 5:19 TT

  6. Just wanted to share some pics and videos from the recent trip. Had tons of fun. Great roads, slabbed only less than 10% of total miles i would guess. Greatest blessing was absolute gorgeous weather. Lat time we went to gap it rained all the 5 days. Touched almost all the iconic roads mentioned in the threads here. Special thanks for @2talltim for some quick suggestion on the final day. We left with no plans no planned booking and just with the names of some famous roads. Our aim was to keep riding from day till night fall, stick to the twistiest road you can find in the map and find shelter close by when its time to rest. Only regret is I had to be back by friday early afternoon to take the family on another trip. This means even if i slabbed friday morning i could not make it here on time. Thus had to miss the meet with the rest of the gang, was lucky at least to meet hellmut and snot. Overall good trip, only trip that could be more exciting i guess will be those hardcore decaprio revenant dead horse camping challenging danimal ride which i am not man enough to undertake. Anyways here are some pics and crappy video. More pics here >http://s218.photobucket.com/user/achillezvalentino/slideshow/Gap trip 2016 some more pics in this link http://s218.photobucket.com/user/achillezvalentino/slideshow/Gap trip 2016 Short edit video of whole trip : Watch in HD please Just some significant ride part with crappy music to hide wind noise

  8. Most are all big bike friendly 650-1200 if it's dry condition and with above average off road skill set. I normally only ride on dry weekdays due to the ATV traffic and remember it's a two way trail. This last Sunday was after 2pm so it was not to busy. A good way to start out (IMHO) Example: Start at Begley's campground on the main corridor and ride to the first intersection or hard surface road. turn around and ride back to the start. turn around ride again to the second intersection or road and ride back the last section and continue. This way you wont get to far into the system and stress about going back. Stay on the Main Corridor and then if you want to explore more difficult routes look for the heliports on the trail and ride to them. just in case you need help. It takes about 3-4 dry day's after rain to dry out. Have fun. Stay off long ridge "single track" Monday creek Map's http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/wayne/maps-pubs/?cid=stelprdb5360974

  16. On my 2014 DL1000 I am on my 3rd rear and 2nd front Mitas E07 Dakar 50/50 Tires. They have become my standard tire I will be running with the amount of off road, gravel and minimum asphalt that I am running. I use to run Metzlar Tourance 85/15 on my 04 DL1000 but my off road was gravel or the occasional two track to get to a site. The Mitas E07's are very stable and predictable on the different gravel depth's that we have here in southern Ohio. They slide and recover when you explore your limits, Very forgiving. I pushed them very hard on asphalt down at the gap last month, Again very predictable. They "drop in" and require little force to maintain corner lines and are friendly when mid corner changes are required.I road the dragon in the early morning wet rain and was enjoying every mile of it. To me that is the best way to start your day ride down at the gap.The tires are a little noisy compared to a full street tire. I don't track tire mileage or motorcycle fuel mileage so I cant help you with that. Also the Darker model have a very stiff sidewall that I like for off road riding with cast wheels and low tire pressures. You need to come down here the the Hocking Hills and I will take you on a "Tour-De-Hock" Adv ride. V Stroms do everything well. Brian

  21. I ordered these bags from Mike at Riders Discount (thanks again Mike!!!). When they first arrived, they looked a lot smaller than I had anticipated. My old Cortech tailbag appears much larger. I decided to go ahead and try them for the Gap trip, and see just how much stuff I could fit into them. I was amazed. Yes the bike is dirty as hell in these pics. I took these while unpacking from the Gap trip. First, let's cover how they're attached to the bike. This picture shows the four straps connected to the subframe under the passenger/pillion seat. Next, this photo shows the straps sticking out from under the seat. Once we arrived at Fontana, the luggage came off and I rode like this all weekend. Here is how the bike looks with the luggage attached. As you can see, the larger bag (US20) attaches to the straps that are attached to the subframe under the seat. Then the two smaller bags (each US10) attach to the larger bag. It is all very sturdy and secure. So, how much can you fit into these things? The US20 contained all of my clothes for five days and my running shoes. How many clothes did I take for five days? Five pairs of boxers, four pairs of tall white socks, four pairs of short gray socks, four t-shirts, two pairs of shorts, one pair of jeans, one pair of running shorts, three sets of compression base layer, and of course the running shoes. And yes, you're looking at my dirty underwear. Feel that tingle? That's excitement. Well the smaller bags can't hold that much surely... This US10 had my sleeping bag. And this one had my Frog Toggs (in the drysack), toiletries, eyeglasses, knee pucks, and a jacket. Obligatory following slow bikes through the Gap on the way home pic. So there you have it folks. You can EASILY pack for five days in the US40 on a sport bike. The tank bag of course helped. That's where I carried the stuff I'd need on the road quickly; a small can of chain lube, kickstand plate, tire gauge, battery pack, microfiber cloth, cleaner, sunglasses, water, etc. I was absolutely amazed at how much stuff I could cram into these bags. One side note; don't expect your clothes to be wrinkle free when you arrive at your destination...
