  1. Finished installing the power commander and ignition module, block off plates, air filter, and Woodcraft rearsets mocked up. I'm going to have the bolts black oxided at work before I locktight them. Servo buddy installed and now ready for the exhaust. I forgot to order the brake light switch for the rearsets, so that'll have to be ordered.

  2. Just went out for a ride with my new heated gear. Why did I not get this stuff sooner?!

  3. If you let it sit for six weeks, most oil has drained off the drivetrain down into the pan. When you start it, it's rough on the drivetrain (lack of oil) for the first few seconds until oil is pumped back up to the top end. You'd be better off not starting it unless you're going for a ride.

  4. As a fellow 'Grandpa' let me point out what you missed in what IP (he is a fake hipster BTW) said. He is not disputing changing the oil before you park it, he is disputing changing the oil before you park it and then in the spring changing it again. " I will never understand why people change their oil before sticking the bike in storage, just to change it again in the spring. " He raises a valid point. As long as you are not firing the bike up during the winter and creating condensation in the crankcase there is no reason to change the oil in the spring. And even if you did start it during the winter changing it would be debatable as the minimal condensation would burn out of the oil in about 20 miles. Damn old people.

  5. Not to concerned about the $20 for oil and 7 for a filter. The remaining 750mL got used for the chain/sprockets.

  6. I wondered the same, I change mine at manufactured recommended intervals, if that's in June and Sept. that's when it gets changed. I changed mine before the Oct gap trip and it probably wont get changed again till after the June gap trip. No need to over think this people. Wash it, put it on the center stand or wheel stand if you have one and plug it in to the tender. That's it, no need for fuel stabilizer or special oil changes or parking it wood instead on concrete. In the spring check the tire pressure, fluids, give it a good look over and get everything up top temp at least once and ride.

  8. Didn't know your storage routines. I see Fram filters where the crimp is half-assed and other problems. Most of you kids as a rule don't know any better. Rather than see an engine suffer I speak up. Oh...I am a grandpa. All three of my grandsons know Wix is the best. Oldest is 4. If you're lucky enough your grandfather is above ground you might want to discuss that crush washer with him. But it's your bike. Motor on...

  10. You got this. By the time its riding weather, you'll be all set. It'll make getting back on the bike that much more rewarding.

  11. Quick update: Physio is going well. Good days and bad days. My knee is feeling better but I still don't have the strength. My PT says that riding at the beginning of next season should be no problems assuming no major setbacks. Currently rocking a handicap placard for parking due to being unable to walk for more than couple hundred feet without causing calf pain for the rest of the day. This is slowly getting better as I build that muscle back up. Looking forward to 2017.
