  1. The peak is available EVERYWHERE if you would need a top off or refill on the road. That's the way I look at things. I don't want to stranded somewhere because I'm a coolant snob

  4. Sounds like the wife and I. Both hate to shop, she doesn't like boutique anything, and she was my enabler behind whatever I wanted to upgrade to ( either a brand new RS/Multistrada ). I chose to go cheap on a used Sprint so I could get a new truck last fall. So happy my wife is supportive, equally frugile, a biker chic, and isn't one of those high maintenance girly girls. Oh, and glad to hear you kept it on 2 wheels Joe. Would've been a heartbreaker to dump that new ride

  6. I have a similar story about my Tourmaster. Hours of rain passing cars with flashers on and only thing that was wet was my neck and chest only because I didn't have my collar closed up all the way. I think stay dry mostly depends on how something fits you. Even the most expensive goretex stuff will fail you if the fit isn't right.

  7. Prolly a combination of "All of the Above"... Cold tires, cold road. I typically reduce pressure 10-15% from summer norm, i.e., if 36/42 F/R is summer, I'll drop to 30/34 when temps are below 55-60*F. That's for backroad hooning. Obviously if you're gonna slab it or go touring two-up, stay at normal pressure. Don't know anything about the new 6-axis IMUs, but I'd guess the mode you were in allows a certain amount of side slip before it intervenes. I'd back it down a level or two of nanny-ness and work my up to the more aggressive modes until you get more experience with throttle response. Even though mold release agents aren't commonly used in modern tire manufacturing, there is still the process of scuffing the surface rubber gradually as you ride. If that was the first time you went aggro with full lean, you were on 100% brand new shiny rubber. Wear those chicken strips off a bit at a time, not with one giant lurid slide!!! And BTW, I call dibs on buying this bitch when you get tired of it and move on to the next mistress!!! Already got the cash in hand...

  11. Got the FJR all buttoned up and took it for a test ride. Due to work, waiting on parts, family obligations, other bikes and various distractions, she's been grounded for about 45 days. Two things became immediately clear: I REALLY missed riding this bike and the Ural is EXTREMELY slow and crude.

  23. I have the opposite problem(well not really a problem)my wife keeps telling me I can get a new bike if I want to because "im always working on mine" And she hates shopping with a passion, and thinks these designer brands with their over inflated price tags are insane. She's perfectly happy with no name and knock off stuff and money in the bank. I'm the cheap skate that dosnt want to spend on a new ride.

  24. Here she is. A Genuine Buddy 125. I looked at Kymco, but when I saw this one I fell in love with it. I bought her from a flight attendant in Northern KY who said she just didn't have time for it anymore. She practically gave it away so I took it.

  27. If you want to stay dry in all day rain Klim is the way to go. I rode home from Gettysburg in the rain 2 summers ago and it was raining so hard outside of Pittsburgh cars were pulling off the road. I stayed dry other then my hands, neck and feet. I have owned 4 other sets of water proof gear including First Gears top of the line jacket and pants and have always got wet in the elbow, chest and balls. The Klim seems way over priced for a jacket with no liner and it takes a while to break in but being dry is worth it.

  28. Glad ur safe Joe, there was another forum member few years ago dropped brand new gixxer 1000 on fresh tires and cold morning ramp on on a side note: ur getting ton of evil eye since your posting succulent pics of that sweet ride. To ward it off you need a good luck charm

  30. Yup RD has some kick ass unadvertised prices, like I said you have to message mike for a quote. Tourmaster is middle of the road quality in my opinion but you get a lot of bang for your buck. I had a TM Saber jacket I bought on clearance for $100 for 2 years till I lost too much weight and it was too big but it was a great jacket sold it for $60. I bought the Advance jacket because it was a shorter cut than the Saber with the same options but I have noticed it is alittle warmer than the Saber. I recommend making a trip to Iron Pony to try a bunch of different stuff on to see what you like and need then give Mike at RD a call for a better price.
