Left home Friday and mostly 2 lane to just north of Boone. 16 is one of the most fun roads I've ever been on. Saturday we headed for Townsend by way of Hot Springs past Fontana and the tail. Yesterday was the skyway Krambonz and magie valley then through the park and across fighting creek rd. Weather has been sketchy but the roads have been great. Definitely learning to handle the cruiser in the tight shit. Good bit of grinding. Townsend is awesome compared to Fontana. Good cell signal, great restaurants and a clean laundromat with a nice coffee shop next door. The gateway inn has nice clean rooms. Just over 1000 miles in first 3 days. The BBQ joint here in Townsend is one of the best I've ate at. Hopefully we'll be able to dodge the rain drops today.1 point

If cruiser style is what you are looking for it is an excellent choice. Also check out the Honda Shadow 750's and the 650 Yamaha VStars. All have decent power for a first bike and are light and low to the ground. And expect to sell whatever ypu get next year after you get comfortable and learn exactly what you want. Did you take the MSF course?1 point

If I remember you have a special relationship with a fast left sweeping downhill turn. I gave you a ride on the back of my Z1K. The wife said we looked very odd together on my bike. Something like this?1 point

Just found a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard s40 for sale around me. Guy's asking $1000 and it looks super clean so I'm going with my dad to see it tomorrow. Wish me luck! Hopefully no underlying issues.1 point

If anyone has an interest in local history there is a very interesting cemetery at the perry/hocking county line on 595.Paynes Crossing was a community of freed slaves.Several of the men served in the Colored Troops in the Civil War.I often stop there on rides to take a water break and try to imagine the lives those men led.Truely adventurous souls! My 04 FJR also turned over 100,000 miles there. http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/w/Paynes_Crossing,_Ohio1 point

278N is fun with a few blind Jumps and Curves. There are a few residential driveways so clear the view before launching. I normally depart Nelsonville and stay on 278N to right on 595N just past Carbon Hill. 595N into New Straitsville is fun then right on 216 to Murray City left on 78N to Glouster, (Fuel) and then you must decide 329S to Trimbel and Amesville at 550. or 78E. Just a change to the routine.IMHO1 point

Not many pics. Wish I had a GoPro today. Turns out bear are smarter than deer because they run for the ditch and not your head light. Thought we were gonna plow a momma bear and 2 cubs on the tail. Not sure how we are getting back. The guys wanna head back a day early and I think they plan to slab it. Normally I'd just go my own way but I had to rig up a busted exhaust bolt so I better stay with the pack.1 point

i know the average age in OR is pretty high. Many folks are above 50 , make sure you get the screenings done on time. This might be a big difference maker in future. Another one is some folks are on heavier side and built with bigger neck and upper chest mass. Sleep apnea is a silent slow killer and will result in irreversible damage to lung and heart. Its not a mainstream problem yet because not much drug help and hence big pharma doesnt advert much. But if you have snoring issues fit the above profile, make sure you get sleep study done. Not trying to offend any one just giving a heads up as the earlier you start the better the outlook.1 point

Ok, I am in. According to Mid Ohio's website a Modular helmet is ok. Can any of you veterans confirm this. Are we ok on garages? I will certainly contribute to one....or get one and accept contributions (or handies). And how do we get garages together? Going to IP tomorrow night. I need to figure out what size I am if I am going to rent. But for 350 I will probably just buy one and use it when I am smoking everyone on 536.1 point

I answered what i could. It's a blast and wish i would have started earlier. But it spoiled me as well and now i don't own a street bike anymore. It took all the fun out of it (since i live in North Olmsted and the closest fun roads is like 2 hours away.)1 point
