  1. Hey guys, heard about this forum while i was on svtperformance.com. thought i would sign up and check it out, being a local ohio site. Im 24 years old, i am big into cars, motorcylces, dirtbikes, and quads(pretty much my only hobbies besides lifting). I am the Metallagraphic Lab Specialist for a company called PCC Airfoils, working out of Minerva, Oh. i have learned you can never learn to much. And no better way to learn then from the guys that have been there and done it. Forums have been the biggest help thoughout my builds and endless questions i come up with. Thanks, Andrew a little preview of some of my garage queens.. 2. Hey all. I've heard about this forum from guys on OhioVW and OhioBimmers so I figured I would check it out myself. I'm Erik, from Gahanna. I'm a college student at the OU branch in Pickerington. Currently driving a 1988 BMW 535i and a 1986 VW GTI. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c229/ColSchmitz/IMG_8403.jpg The bimmer is completely stock for the time being. The 3.4 liter I6 runs awesome. I've got some Bilstein Sport struts and H&R sport springs on order. I plan on replacing the current wheels with some OEM BMW wheels in the near future. Other than that I've got no plans for it. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c229/ColSchmitz/Cars/IMG_8199.jpg My GTI on the other hand is not stock. The previous owner swapped a 2.0 8v into it with a sportier cam, adjustable cam sprocket, hot air intake and chip. The car has been lowered and beefier sway bars were installed front and rear. Exhaust wise it has a Techtonics cat back. Its a ton of fun to drive on the twisties but lacks the grunt for straight line speed. I've actually been thinking of selling it so I can focus on my 5er. If anyone sees me tooling around Cbus give me a wave. Erik

  3. Hello, my name is Josh and I am an addict. I spend every spare moment surfing auto mobile forums and cruising classified ads looking for mods or a new projects / toys. In all seriousness I am a huge motorsports fan and can spend endless hours talking or reading about anything with wheels and a motor. Growing up in WV, most of my time was spent on 4X4's owning an 85 S15 Jimmy with a 3" body lift on 31" super swampers, then an 83 Jeep CJ-7 on 33" BFG's, and 93 Jeep Wrangler. At that point I moved to Columbus and purchased my first new car a 2000 S10 Blazer ZR2 5-speed. Then I realized how boring it can be to drive an off road car on the road the entire time. From that point it was a 2001.5 VW passat (lowered on Eibach's and 18" RS4 wheels), then on to an 2002 Audi A4 which remained stock since my son was born about the same time. My most recent ride was a 2007 300C SRT-8 which was an absolute blast to drive. However after 3 years of joy I once again got the itch in February and sold the Chrysler.... After being carless for two weeks, I came across a great opportunity on a BMW and within 24 hours found myself on a plane to go pick it up in Philadelphia to drive it home. I found CR indirectly when researching the CC&C and joining ohiobimmers. From there the track and dyno days have peaked my interest even more and have led me to believe this is a worthy place to waste time. Thanks for the intro, let the flame begin........

  7. This RFP is for a serious issue currently going on with yours truly. My facebook friends are probably already aware of it. I saw my family doc last week for some severe migraines I started having. Doc sent me for a head CT scan last Friday. Doc called me a few hrs after the scan (never a good sign) to let me know the scan revealed a "issue" in my right cerebellum, ironically, the area of my migraines. Doc explains the images indicate a possible AVM (arteriovenous malformation), a life-threatening condition that usually produces aneurysms. Doc refers me to a neurosurgeon for a consultation. Neuro doc explains that the image is only a preliminary assumption and that a AVM is the worse case scenario and that it could be a venous angioma, also referred to as a "developmental venous anomaly" (DVA) which is NOT life-threatening and actually doesn't really even require any treatment. A avm on the other had requires treatment, usually brain surgery to have it removed. Neuro doc has me scheduled for a MRI tomorrow and a Angiogram next week. Both tests are required to determine for sure what the situation is. Please keep me and my family in your prayers and thoughts and cross your fingers that it's a DVA and not a AVM! Obviously I'll keep you guys posted as I get information. And for now, "really" don't make me angry, cause my head might "really" explode (my attempt at lightening the mood)

  8. I got this from another forum, but it looked fun. I'm sure we have some devious people here.... What's some of the bad stuff we did as kids? I've got more, of course.... I played LaCrosse in Jr. and High School, and a friend was interested in trying a stick and playing catch. Lived by the river, it was a nice sunny day during summer break- so it made perfect sense to have a go at it in the park. Bill asks how accurate I was with the stick, and I thought I'd show him. Duck, 30 yards away.... THUD!!! I thought I'd be close, but I nailed him. It's a hard ball, I threw it fast, and it was the hollowest thud I've ever heard... We didn't eat Duck that evening, but that duck ate my ball. RIP

  28. Just out of curiosity, do conservatives realize that they actually need to make a case that the stimulus bills and the health care bill are going to cost money in the long run? That's it not enough to just point out that we're spending money on these things? Let's step back from ideology for a bit and pretend that we're all co-owners of a house. As a house, we're in debt. Part of the problem is that we have no income, and we have a hole in the roof over our bed that's constantly causing us to buy new mattresses. So we've been charging all these mattresses on our credit cards. The democrats in the house decide that they're going to invite some roofers to come live with us. These roofers will get free rent and cost us some money for food and stuff, but in the long run they'll save us money because they're going to fix our roof so we can stop buying new mattresses. Meanwhile, Guillermo, another freeloader in the house, says that if we buy him a Taco Truck he can go out and make us some money. In a few months he'll have paid off the truck and we'll be enjoying a positive income. Now, the Republicans can make valid arguments against both of these plans. They can argue against them financially; they can say that the roofers we hired aren't any good and won't actually be able to fix the roof. They can say that the roofers will end up costing more money in lost rent and food than if we just paid some professionals. They can say that Guillermo doesn't make very good tacos. They can argue that, ideologically, our house is better off in the long run if we don't reward freeloaders like the roofers and Guillermo, because once word gets out that we're giving out room and board and Taco Trucks, we'll have too many people sleeping on our lawn. Furthermore, conservatives can argue that we have no business owning a house, and maybe we should just bail on it before we get even more in debt. All of those are potentially valid arguments that may or may not be borne out by numbers and a realistic discussion of their probability. What the conservatives shouldn't do is to just run around saying "You're spending money on roofers and Taco Trucks and we're in debt! That's bad! Case closed!" Because it's completely ignoring the fact that, right or wrong, the roofers and Taco Truck are part of a comprehensive plan to reduce debt. They have to argue why those are bad ideas, and they have to be convincing. 30 second ads like this just frustrate me to no end. Democrats are just going to roll their eyes and ignore it, and Republicans are just going to nod along and feel reinforced in their existing beliefs. It completely sidesteps the issue that stimulus packages were designed to boost the economy and (consequently) make sure future tax revenues stayed high. The idea was that we'd spend money on a Taco Truck now and reap the rewards in the future. The health care bill was designed to fix the hole in our roof that is Medicare/Medicaid. We'd spend money to fix a problem so that it didn't end up costing a lot more down the road. I'm not going to take the time to argue that either the stimuli or the health care bill are right, I just want to emphasis that there is a logic behind them, and it's not enough to point that they exist and call all liberal policies a failure. Conservatives, IMO, haven't made a convincing argument that the Democrats are wrong, and 30 second FEAR ads and all the chest beating and back patting in the world don't make that argument any more convincing. Step up the level of the discussion, and drop the shitty scare tactics. (Exhausted now, can't proofread, deal with errors).
