I have gotten Subarus, Audis, and 4WD Chevys stuck in just a couple inches of mud/snow. If the tires are shit, no AWD system is going to help you on some stuff. That being said, I've also pulled a ford explorer through 10 inches of mud with mein Audi on all-seasons.

I'm in the same boat. Having two bikes is killing me on insurance and maintenance costs. Seems used bike values aren't very good, and the superhawks I've seen selling aren't worth much at all or I would have sold this year.

I'm pretty sure it's actually cheaper to pay a hobo or illegal to let you shoot them. You can just fill up bottles or jugs with water, and freeze some.

I've shot a few thousand rounds through my Ruger 22/45 this year and it has been great. Pain in the ass to strip down, but honestly you can just lube and go for thousands of rounds. Has been reliable with all the crappy ammo I can find, is very comfy to shoot, and I'd recommend one. They are way too expensive for what they are, the mags are expensive, and the bolt can bite you if you don't know what you're doing.

+1 on him being SOL. In the past 5 years I've had a kid blow a motor on a z28 within a week of me selling it to him, and another kid ruin a steering rack on an Audi (problem disclosed at sale) and try to take legal action. Standard "Crap I fucked up, must be someone else's fault!" Don't worry about it, but if he threatens you then definitely call the police and talk to them.

And for when it's dark out, you can always walk on a treadmill or do squats while you get your game on. Hook exercise equipment to playstation, give an hour of playtime per 400 calories burned? Profiting from lazy parents... what could go wrong?

I can tell you that carrying a 5" 1911 gets old fast due to the weight. You want something that encourages you to carry, not discourages you. The 3" is a little lighter. My biggest gripe and why I don't carry a 1911 anymore is the magazine capacity. I don't feel comfortable at all having that few rounds, and I haven't been able to get my Springfield to go more than a few hundred rounds without jamming. Fussy about mags, expensive to maintain, heavy, low magazine capacity, and reliability are big turn-offs FOR ME. The worst you can do is try it. If it's not for you, find something else. In my case, I've been much happier since I went to the M&P platform.
