  1. I really like M35A2. They come up in federal auctions all the time. Even locally available. Beat up so bad you'd have to get two or three to make one good one.
  2. I rode to work today. In a Jeep with the 4wd on... There were a few spots where all 4 wheels were dancing around.
  3. Ok, this one actually is a "glitch in the Matrix". Working in a warehouse for the day, I see a skid of tvs, the cheap type with the VHS built in the bottom of the tv. I talk to the warehouse manager about them, we thought they were junk. Warehouse stuff always has a record of delivery, receipt, etc. We go home. The next day, I'm back over there for stuff, and we both turn and look at where that skid of tvs isn't anymore. We both saw it the day before. We can't find the records either. We even check entry records for who was in the day before. Which was limited, since an alarm is set at night. We don't give up, we track it down and find it, to where it was delivered to another dock, on another building pretty far away. And records there backed that up. It never happened...
  4. About 17yo, I woke up one night to see a woman standing in my bedroom. I thought I saw her move, but she froze. I froze. Summer time, window open, moonlight streaming in. I don't move, don't breath. I stare and count to 60. Against the far wall, partly in front of the dark closet, stands a woman with long hair and what looks like a old time flannel nightgown. I figure I'm just dreaming or seeing imaginary things. I stare. Her black hair is in front of the white wall. Her white flannel is in front of the dark closet. I try to not see this, but she's still there. The 60 second count is done. I need to breath. I move, I speak... There's nothing there. Another night some one obviously walked down the upstairs hallway and fell down a short flight of stairs on the split level house. Very loud and noisy. Every one jumps up out of bed, only to see each other at the top of the stairs, and no one fell down those stairs. I searched the old maps at the library, and found the house was built next to where once was a small creek, in an apple orchard. Back then, travelers on the old National Trail (Rt 40) camped out there overnight. Many people died of illness while traveling back then. edit: On the East side of Columbus, are many small Indian burial mounds. I know where a house was built on top of one. We wondered how that would work out. No family lived there more than about 6 months each. They kept moving out without saying why.
  5. I have a DroidX. I meant I was reading that some of the iPhone or iPods controls don't sync up in bluetooth. Older ones, in particular.
  6. Okey dokie, I'll pick one up and try it out. Wally World is two bucks cheaper, but I'll go with NewEgg free shipping. Warning, probably won't link up with iPhones/iPods. Not with all the control features, anyway. It has a microphone, but you'd probably have to pull the helmet off and speakers out to use it.
  7. SOPA is a congressional bill written by lawyers for lawyers. The winners will be lawyers both pro and con. Both prosecution and defense. The losers will be everyone else in existence.
  8. For your Winter amusement: [Luc1] out of control ! yeah, it's French with subtitles... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmaLVZjZ5z8
  9. wut? no, lol... it's a line from the movie...
  10. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
  11. For SHTF the AK wins. There's no "wait I need a time out to fix/adjust/clean my weapon". On the other hand, running out of ammo first is bad. Can carry more .223 than any .30cal.
  12. Good points, SerpentRacer There are good sources of info out there, just have to find them. I usually check the Harvard School of Health website for info. I got a basic answer to find carbs in whole grains, vegetables, fruits and beans. http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/carbohydrates/ http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/carbohydrates-full-story/ 1. Oatmeal instead of cereal. 2. Whole grain bread, that stuff that looks like a brick. 3. Rice instead of potatoes. 4. Whole fruit instead of fruit juice. 5. Beans, all types of beans. Each type of bean does something different and important in the body. Glycemic Index list of foods
  13. reading the interwebz... Reportedly certain other substances perform similar cellular functions. The first six can be found in health food stores. Co-Q10 (natural substance in the body) curcumin (curry spice) ellagic acid (from pomegranates and other fruits) Se-methylselenocysteine aka methylselenocysteine (found in garlic and broccoli) grapeseed extract capsaicin (the "hot" substance in red pepper) U-Fucoidan/Modifilan/Laminaria japonica/konbu (seaweed extract) dunno...

    Newbie!

My '02 gas cap won't open or close without thumping on it. I'm ok with that. I remember opening EvilTwin's tank using the hammer and chisel method.
  15. It's pre adjusted from the factory. The new Holley four barrel does that now. edit: floats sticking are a bit common. Especially after work where the float bowl had no fuel. Sometimes it takes a little fiddling to get the float to start acting correctly. Typically I'd hit the side of the float bowl with the butt of a screw driver to knock it loose/free.
  16. Probably will find corrosion on the needle and seat. Check the float and the float level. Float movement (with needle) should be smooth and free. Fix the fuel shut off valve. The carb isn't really meant to prevent fuel leaks, the shut off valve does that. This is important, since some fuel leaks out the overflow, and some makes it into the cylinder, past the rings, and into the crankcase. Easy to tell if it's happening, you can smell fuel in the oil. You don't want that to happen.
  17. You've made me sad thinking about it. I went to the car wash. My Jeep is now happy, I think...
  18. checking... I see 7 B-52s, 7 KC-135 refueling aircraft (or other 707 airframe), and 4 B-2 hangers. And a huge ammo storage facility. One of the largest I've ever seen.
  19. hahaha ok... So the aircraft carrier does business as usual launching airstrikes against Afghanistan, both inside the gulf and outside the gulf. And they leave to go home as scheduled, and Iran says "Don't ever come back". Yeah, ok. We have cut back on carriers in and around the Gulf. We don't need them there for Iran, only to support air ops in Afghanistan. (Flight corridor through Pakistan, past Iran. I'm sure that makes them unhappy, but they say nothing.) We have five airbases on foriegn soil, created just for dealing with Iran. Not counting other airbases created for dealing with Iraq and Afghanistan. And not counting airbases that no one talks about, or that huge island nearby called Diego Garcia. We do need assets to protect shipping, and ships do that best. Expect NATO and others to step up soon, if this continues. Mine sweepers are always welcome in that area. Iran is hurting. China cut oil purchases from Iran back by a good percentage this month, and willing to do so for another month. Everyone else is considering a total ban on oil purchases from Iran. Oddly, the John C. Stennis group just rescued Iranians that were hostage of Somali pirates, and they are on their way home. No hostages, no demands, no bluster or threats or bragging. None needed. Expect Iran to spin it anyway they can. I repeat: One US Navy submarine could implement stone age over night. Iran, be careful what you wish for.
  20. Never thought about it much. I taught my dogs not to bark. They taught themselves to come and wake me up. Guess I'm supposed to protect them if I'm home. If I was even asleep, I tend to wake up when I hear odd sounds. Dogs preferred to sleep in front of the door, so it couldn't open. Good dogs. edit: oddly, I found out that if I wasn't home, the dog would go ape shit if some one approached the door.
  21. umm, it needs a disco ball, strobes and some lasers... kidding, it looks great
  22. Major fault lines are identified by having a series of quakes in a line. Minor fault lines are not visible, except maybe in LA, where minor is major and major is oh shit.
  23. Yes. But they had no idea what to do. No one wanted to give an order. Most pilots were left to make their own decisions. They were tasked with finding, not shooting down. Intercepts are simply "escort to nearest airport" for FBI and Marshalls to take over. The one pilot who wanted to ram with his aircraft, had no weapons or ammo on board. All intercept capabilities were for inbound from outside the USA. Nothing was too workable for inside the USA. Probably the primary reason all commercial flights were grounded. So they could see what was going on.
  24. I thought slant drilling a mile or more in all directions was common. edit: I'm going to guess that there is some sort of minor fault line running in that area.
