  1. Ok, I don't like it, but there is a reason for it. It's just lost in the jabber of the Congress. Here's your scenario: An ad hoc army of terrorists converge on a military asset and take it. And turn the weapons found there on the public... Who you gonna call? Only military assets can stop them, and they aren't allowed to operate on USA soil. It could be a Guard or Reserve armory, or it could be an entire air base. Can the FBI or US Marshalls chase and shoot down a stolen F-16 or F-15? No. Can the US military? Nope, not them either, not until this law was passed. Ok, I admit it's a bit of a stretch considering the purpose intended, but it's a start in that direction. The problem is, Congress jabbered this law, and who knows what it actually says. Or accidentally or purposefully says. It's probably botched and will have to be revised. Yes, it's chopping away at rights. That's the world we live in now. We'll just have to write and get ourselves some modern up to date rights. Somehow. This change in law also recognizes the existence of domestic terrorism as a fact. Just don't forget what our largest and most damaging domestic terrorist groups actually are. I reserve all book and movie rights for this scenario...

  9. And what sort of tread life? .... Fuel mileage?
  10. Disagree with the assessment. Studies have show that typically high IQs will be productive at any job. And that those jobs are scattered all over the spectrum. Most noticeably, half will pursue high end technical stuff, and the other half will pursue artistic endeavors (i.e. work with their hands). And I would guess that that is typically normal for any IQ. And I suppose that is why people with high IQs go through life "playing dumb" to fit in. Would a high IQ get bored with that job? Maybe, maybe not. To assign that as a cause and effect is arbitrarily discriminatory. Data to the contrary be damned.
  11. Obviously, people don't do bad things... things do bad things. So ban things! And therefore persecute people for having those things... *confused* Boy, 13, Busted For Illegal Marker Possession
  12. I usually get stuck in a left turn lane. Turning right from there isn't much better. Sometimes I power walk the bike across the intersection just for amusement. Whut? It would be a jaywalking ticket... edit: Virginia, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Illinois have this law now. Maybe more. Oops, add Minnesota, Tennessee, Idaho, North Carolina, and Georgia. btw, Ohio Revised Code kinda sorta covers running a funky light at an intersection: (print and keep under the seat)
  13. manuals for old school bikes and some of those odd bikes from around the world: http://www.dansmc.com/shopmanual2.htm Good quality manuals for some of the most popular bikes (4 pages-look through them all): http://www.gofastvideo.com/categories/7/Motorcycle-Manuals

  18. Yeah, it looks more like a recovery from a chop shop. Nothing looks broken, just disassembled.
  19. Not felt by most people in Columbus. Felt even in Canada. There was a 2.7 on Dec24 there. There's been a dozen quakes there in 2011. It's a brine injection well 5 miles north west of Youngstown (McDonald). It's the only pump in Ohio that has quakes from pumping crap into the ground. Pumping has stopped for now.
  20. ok.... just when you wouldn't think things could get any weirder. Hackers are a large enough group to have their own conventions and guidance as a group. Their latest "plan for the future", is to launch and control their own satellites in orbit. To be used for broadcasting to the internet. This would eliminate a lot of the planned censorship. Oddly, they also would like to put an astronaut on the Moon. Take that China, see if you can get there before a bunch of computer hackers... Hackers plan space satellites to combat censorship China plans manned moon mission
  21. Maybe the result of an intense drug search? Maybe the cylinder head bounced into the next county? Maybe a large deer carried it off as a souvenir? I dunno They said it was the wrong bike anyway, who knows where it came from. And the YAMAHA logo looks shopped in.
  22. Actually, I wasn't paying enough attention, and figured this was one of the guys here messing around. If you're really the real beastedonyou2, tell us all about your adventures. Now that's me being troll bait.
  23. If I remember right... the 2010 list (Forbes) had 4 Ohio cities ranked very high out of 50. And Miami was way low, go figure. Detroit unfortunately was at the top of the list. edit: ok, it depends on which list is used. Some factor in auto accidents or even natural disasters. But all are taken from FBI statistics. But the original looks nothing like a list. There are dozens of sets of data. Violent crime per 100,000 of population is the correct way to look. It's more or less spreadsheet data, and has to be downloaded, sorted and interpreted. The result is a variety of lists, that don't all say the same thing. That Forbes list is a popular interpretation of the FBI data. One of the 2010 FBI top 400 list (Crime in the United States 2009) for city crime rate (violent crime) said: 7. Cleveland 20. Dayton 24. Cincinnati 27. Toledo 37. Canton 47. Akron 49. Columbus (Violent crimes are murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, followed by the property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Arson excluded.) Still looking for accurate 2011 (for 2010) data. And haven't yet looked at the official 2012 (preliminary 2011 data).
