  1. Mounting tube tires. If you haven't done a bunch of them before, you'll have to watch the area where the tube nozzle is located on the tube. It is thicker there, and has a habit of getting in between the tire and the metal rim. That pushes the tire away from the rim (inward), and will cause a lumpy bump when riding. It will also eventually go flat, since it is pinching the tube. Put the nut on the nozzle, and push the nozzle in as far as it will go when mounting the tire. So that the thick part of the tube goes inside the tire, not in between. Works best if there is a little air in the tube when working with it, so that it holds it's shape (keeps the tools from pinching the tube when prying). When all done, eyeball the line on the tire near the rim. Turn the tire and see if that line is consistently the same distance from the rim on both sides. If not, the tube is probably pinched between tire and rim, or the tire isn't fully seated for some other reason.
  2. One size tube will work for several size tires, but I've never seen one marked both 19 and 15. I'm going to guess that the 140/90-19 marking is or was supposed to be 140/90-15. the nominal size of the tube was the size in the middle, the 150/80-15. Stuff made in countries that don't speak English can have all sorts of crazy typos. edit: The 5 inch wide rim strip was probably for an ATV rim or something (or car rim?). Not that I've ever seen spokes on an ATV rim. You can cut it back to the 1 3/4 if you want to. It only has to cover the area of the spokes, usually the flat part of the rim. I've seen some I thought were too narrow, and I was happier with a wider one. They do try to move around (when mounting up), and a spoke poking at a tube won't last long. I always liked a thicker rim strip, rather than a thin one. They tend to break where the hole for the tube nozzle is located. edit again: check the rim strip to see if it's going to be too tight or too loose on the motorcycle rim. The profile of any wide 15" rim would dish down deep, and the rim strip would be a quite different diameter. It might not fit at all. moar edit: a couple of sizes larger tire is ok. But a tube that is too big for a smaller tire, runs the risk of folding or creasing, which would cause a problem on the exterior of the tire. As long as the tube expands equally and evenly on the interior of the tire, it's ok. No abnormal wear should occur. This doesn't mean a motorcycle tube would work on a car rim, but a little larger tire is ok. And no, I never liked that, I always tried to find a tube that does match the tire.
  3. hey, this is fun, let me try... Far more fun on the freeway, for me, is playing tag. I sneak up on other bikes, fall in behind them, and start counting to see how long it takes them to see me back there. Stats: Some see me, some NEVER see me. Which ones? The Harleys? Cruisers? Sportbikes? (Which are indeed much harder to catch in the first place.) Nope... it's the jokers without the helmets. They just won't move that f'ing head to look around, won't look in the mirrors, nada. It's all about the image, man... gotta be that man... Yeah... don't ever think I don't see you coming up behind me. edit: I've also been noticing this year that some riders are wobbling around in the lane like a total fool. I can't figure it out. Like, going around a corner requires taking, how many different lines? Even on the freeway. It's not riding a motorcycle, it's flopping around like a total amateur...
  4. oh hey, that OSHP bike got off the freeway with me, so I waved Hi at him... I got the scooter driver look, like wut? I guess no one waves at him...
  5. That OSHP motorcycle patrol sitting on the fast lane of I-670 today (clocking) would probably say you're both wrong, heh.
  6. I've done a few. And I know how difficult it can be. So all of these are pretty good. I also know that standing near an aluminum tripod in a lightening storm isn't a good idea.
  7. Currently (with most banks not processing for several months) Ohio - 70,193 foreclosures Cuyahoga county - 9189 foreclosures Franklin county - 7071 foreclosures Hamilton county - 5864 foreclosures Montgomery county - 3898 foreclosures Butler county - 3415 foreclosures Licking county - 1206 foreclosures Delaware county - 837 foreclosures Fairfield county - 539 foreclosures Madison county - 270 foreclosures Pickaway county - 208 foreclosures Hocking county - 68 foreclosures edit: not bad compared to Detroit area which has 47,000+ or Chicago, 75,000+, Cook county Illinois has 66,374 by itself.
  8. Yeah, and people have short memories. It seems to me he was quietly out for a year or two, recuperating. I was kinda glad when he went back, but knew it wouldn't be much longer.
  9. Whitehall was the biggest hit with an average 14% drop. But I was checking values on Realtytrac, and I have the opinion that huge numbers of homes are still in foreclosure with more to come. And that whatever a bank asks for a property, you can buy it for half of that. And that some home owners just give up and sell for anything they can get. It's far from over. edit: a friend's neighborhood in Columbus near Bexley, had 5 houses on the same street, all foreclosed and all sold for 25k-30k each.
  10. and I don't care here's Darth Vader jammin'................ sorry, I had to........... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eZBevXohCI&feature=player_embedded
  11. Crap... I bought one of those for 40 bucks and sold it for 120... Time flies when you're having fun...
  12. Sooo, seeing all the troubles, I took a look at my debit charges. Something I used to watch a lot closer. And I find two $14.95 charges per month, going back to March. Oops. It was a pair of the credit report checking services *cough*. And initiated by another person, who probably also is scammed by a third or fourth party. A quick phone call to those that received payment, got 100% refunded, and we'll see if it gets back to me. I generally don't put card numbers in computers that are not absolutely clean. Nor do I use cards in restaurants. The most likely way I got taken, is a database was compromised at some place I bought stuff. So I rolled the card over and got a new one. But at least I think I'll get the money back. About $180 before I noticed. Durrrr... edit: I have noticed that some shady (or legit) websites have fine print that say stuff like they are signing you up for future charges and such. That happens a lot, even when trying to set up auto payments on utility bills. Gotta watch it all the time. Nothing but thievery.
  13. Good chance of colder Winters? I was watching the History Channel, about the Iceland Rift. A volcanic area under ice. When the ice melts, the pressure removed releases the volcanoes and lava. Which lets loose volcanic gases, that cool the atmosphere in the Northern hemisphere, which results in a bit of ice age. Which of course, puts the ice back where it was over the Iceland volcanoes and puts it back the way it was before. Pretty much a self regulating planet. I don't think we really know how lucky we are.
  14. Excellent. Very nice. The stuff dreams are made of.
  15. HD is moving toward a water cooled head to meet EPA requirements. Leaving the cylinder jugs unchanged if possible, to keep tradition.
  16. I don't think they can spell entendre. and welcome to OR caught the double entendre = something you don't want to hear from your doctor
  17. I had trouble posting this, I didn't want to quit watching. A couple of shots made me laugh. Like the long shot where he slides past going sideways through the intersection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btViXvIDsi0 edit: I got this from a visual effects artist/producer on Google+. Google+ is really really cool...
  18. ok, one I'll never forget: 1983–1984: Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJE_Sc1Wags Edit: big fan of all Def Leppard and Dire Straits from the 80s also. sooo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAD6Obi7Cag
  19. Bump that up to arrest warrants in Pennsylvania. This did originally occur in PA. http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/5081779
  20. Geez that's an old tire. Michelin used to promote tires the same way. Wifey safety.
  21. This ^... Eyeball the line on the tire near the rim and see if it's uniform all the way around. A common tire mounting error. It will give a distinctive bouncing hop like you described. Back in the day when I pried tube tires on and off, that was typical. Have to always check it every time.

  23. They were watching and preparing, and had just decided to evacuate the grandstands. The gust of wind was in front of the storm. There wasn't enough time. The stage fell on the VIP section up front. I generally don't stand down wind of tall objects, in high winds, that are temporarily attached to the ground.
  24. I was at the Dayton airshow when a storm like that came in. When the flight schedule paused, and changed up and the commercial aircraft stopped landing and started fleeing.... I went for the car in the parking lot. Heavy rain and wind just as I got there. The storm pretty much flattened the place.
  25. That was a one punch knockout, btw...
