Here's why you shouldn't work on fuel with a propane heater running in the garage. Or, here's why you should have a bigger fire extinguisher... Waiting for the "I'd just let it burn and collect the insurance"...3...2...1... I found those on Search Tempest, a craigslist multi search engine. There's a lot more VTX 1300s listed there. Put a space in VTX 1300 to search with, instead of VTX1300. Both in craigslist and in Search Tempest. It makes a big difference on craigslist searchs.

Should find dealer or private 2004 to 2007 for 4800 to 6800 listed. But I see what you mean, they have 9 of them for a lot lower price. I would certainly consider this one in Picktown - 5600: really low miles, if the speedo wasn't replaced. http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/2225016098.html or West Toledo - 3800: http://toledo.craigslist.org/mcy/2185673074.html or Trenton (Dayton) - 4500: http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/2206058069.html or Pittsburgh - 4895: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/2205777303.html Ignoring the one in Kentucky that was already "laid down"... The marketplace is pretty much flooded with used vtx1300, so I'd think a couple of hundred bucks could be knocked off any price.

I'm with ohdaho on this one. I can remember running into bad reviews on the internet, but can find none now. Not surprised, it's the internet. I'd be checking it real close, for problems. It is what it is, a salvage bike. Good places will let you take it to a mechanic to check out first. Bad places will say no. All were either too busted up or were over priced for what it was.

Since those are 100% salvage/auction bikes there, I'd have to wonder if it was from the Nashville flood area. Tons of vehicles were under water there. Ohio and Columbus are notorious for having flood victim vehicles show up here for sale on local car lots. From all over the East coast states.

How did I miss this one. I guess it's a go ahead to be in the US in 2012. Still heavy, but really tricked out with ABS, electronic performance selection, and electronic traction/road selection (limited rear wheel slip/spin). Yeah, it's fly by wire throttle. Still not sure about that one. DailyMotoRide A different motorcycle road every day. It's a website that uses Google maps, to display route, elevation, and photos along the road. Mouse over the elevation map at the bottom for the photos. Try this one found at: http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/google-street-view-best-motorcycle-rides

I wonder if he will accept monopoly money in payment. If it's the great pretender, after all.

That's what I keep thinking. We need freelance mercenary "good guy" pirates out there to protect our interests from "bad" pirates. I know that Blackwater wanted to do that. But I don't know if they did. It's a popular subject. Google http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&biw=1024&bih=631&q=mercenary+somalia&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=. I can imagine our buying a ship and having at it. Ohio Pirates... arrrrr The US military does have assets in the area that aren't in the news. I just don't think they've used them yet, or it's staying real quiet.

Speaking as a guy whose Dad used to sell shoes (owned a shoe store)... You might have a narrow heel. If so, there are heel pads that can be stuck in to tighten it up. Typical with boots. Make sure that your foot isn't sliding front and back though, that would be the wrong length size.

Hard to track to it's actual source. It probably didn't come from where it looks like. The apparent source was probably a compromised server, and they need to tighten up their ops. And the attack on your account was a redirect using your mailing list. Think of it as a drive-by with squirt guns. Little damage done, it's just very annoying... (note: a ton of this crap actually comes from Chicago...)

Well, not completely. There's a serious amount of mineral wealth in Africa, that can be found either in large quantities or found no where else. This has the attention of China. This also brings just enough interest in Africa from everyone else, to keep China from taking it all for themselves.

Ok, here's the rumble as I've heard it. Two pirates went on board the US Navy vessel to negotiate. They were offered either the sailboat to keep or a misc USN boat to have. They wanted to think about it over night first. Here's where things went bad. The FBI negotiator decided to lock them up over night. Meanwhile an argument started on the sailboat between pirates. A gunfight breaks out, which included launching an RPG at the US Navy ship. Somehow the hostages all get shot. US Navy decides to board the sailboat. Pirates surrender. They find two pirates and the four hostages dead.

Dogs are not completely stupid. Smart enough to know that having been hit once, it doesn't much matter if hit again. A couple of more hits, and suddenly realizes that dinner won't taste right, and pizza might never taste the same. Time to quit...

Where do you look for left over model year bikes?
ReconRat replied to DTM Brian's topic in Daily Ride
It seems to me that a lot of left over models are listed on Cycle Trader. New but old stock. -
Yes, since fatalities in an automobile or truck are actually more common than fatalities on a motorcycle. Medical insurance isn't concerned with the fatalities, the high cost is the recovery of wounds in a motorcycle accident. Therefore there should be a discount on motorcycle medical coverage for wearing full armor. edit: dang it, Nick must have read the same national fatality report that I did...

AWD motorcycles are about to get real (Christini)
ReconRat replied to Disclaimer's topic in Pics and Vids
From what I've read, it's actually the torque steer of the power train that takes some getting used to. -
It sounds like it's either (outside) left engine cover, or (center) engine case cracked on the left side. One is relatively easy to fix, the other is nearly totaled. Either way, it sounds like it took a hard hit on the roadway. Various other parts could be bent or out of shape. Like front forks, frame, or swingarm. (picture bike trying to wrap around engine when it might have struck the ground.) It needs a real close up look, to find out what's up.

shoot, walk it across in the cross walk... just sayin... yeah, I've done that just to be a smart ass. edit: btw, more importantly, a traffic light that is out, dark and no lights, should be treated as a four way stop. Hardly anyone does, and I've seen some really nasty close calls by people ignoring such.

If you missed it today, an SU-22 fighter-bomber that was sent to bomb Benghazi, decided not to. The two pilots bailed out and let the plane crash on the way to the city. http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2011/02/ordered-to-attack-own-people-libyan-pilots-crash-their-jets/ But one or two Libyan warships still sit offshore shelling the town... On Tuesday one or two warships defected to Malta. edit: I think the two ships ordered to shell Benghazi, mutinied and tried to get to Malta... http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/babylonbeyond/2011/02/libya-warship-defects-to-malta.html

AWD motorcycles are about to get real (Christini)
ReconRat replied to Disclaimer's topic in Pics and Vids
Yeah, either chain/shaft or hydraulics. Yamaha 2-Trac AWD system has been in development for way too long. KTM has a prototype. And Subaru wants to offer motorcycles and AWD motorcycles. What's the world coming to... On the other hand, Germany had it back in WW2... (ok, that's cheating... it was a driven side car wheel in the back...) -
PA or WV deer rifle. Brush gun.

There are two. .375 H&H Magnum (.375") and .38-55 Winchester (.376"). Neither is handgun, but the .38-55 Winchester can be a stubby flat top for tube feed type rifles. Both are odd rounds to run into. Unless it's 100 years old and dug out of the yard... edit: those would be big and heavy. Heavier than a 230gr 45acp. Winchester is the only current source of .38-55, and it's made in soft point, not a flat tip. Oops, I take that back. Buffalo Bore has a flat top round for this. And the Winchester isn't too darn pointy, it's a tube feed round also. http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/large/278/278170.jpg
