  1. More of an ego thing. Which some (or many) consider a sin. Only made worse by the reference to a deity. *singing* "You're so vain, you probably think this thread is about you..." You'll probably have to be a bit older to recognize those lyrics.
  2. Well, I have one of those in pieces scattered all over... Sounds like the battery is shot. Determine if all plugs are firing properly. If not, find and fix. My first guess is the carburetors. They have to need cleaning by now. Replacing the stator was ok, they were known to die just from old age.
  3. Two of the neighbor kids have had infections. One just last week. Wonder where they are shopping. Looked it up: Local bacteria infections from tattoos are rare. Piercing tend to run about 20% bacterial infections. Mostly from lack of proper care in the first 3 weeks. There are stats that 22% to 33% of Hepatitis C infections are traced to tattoo parlors. 22% in general, and 33% in commercial tattoo parlors. Tattoos account for 41% of all Hepatitis C infections. About double the number of infections from intervenous drug use. Base line is 1.8% of the entire population has Hepatitis C. And approximately 5% of the working age population. Choose wisely.

    I want.

17 ounces empty? I'm impressed. .380 can kick quite well. A light .380 will kick much more than a heavy 9mm. Of course a light 9mm will trump both. Still not hard to handle with a good grip.
  6. Indeed, I tried 100 miles at 40F last year. Brain went dull and slow. (Duller than normal.) Cold was radiating out of my bones and muscles after I stopped. Very weird feeling.
  7. Shoot, just get a DroidX with massive amounts of free apps. I also like massive amounts of pasta...
  8. Without even looking, and speaking from experience. Industry espionage is rampant from numerous foreign countries. The ones I remember are Israel, France, and Soviet through East Bloc proxies. I've heard that Japanese and Chinese (both mainland and Taiwan) are common, but have never run into that. Ask me sometime for stories, we caught a few out at Rockwell. Or rather they got stupid and got caught... edit: ok, watched part one. The problem isn't with having foreign agents from friendly countries in the USA. It's doing so without permission and oversight. Interpol commonly works here in the US, but they work through and with the US Marshals and FBI etc.
  9. I used to get bored and tired riding long distances. I'm not the type to actually stop. I'd flip the rear pegs down and use them. I'd lay down on the tank and ride with one hand. Comfy... I needed a cruise control, I could have taken a nap.
  10. Made me think... I've burst a rear retread on a car at 130. I've burst a rear retread on a car at 90. I've burst multiple tires on cars at 80. Too many flats to count on cars. One catastrophic front blow out on a bike, with violent tank slapper. One front flat from a thorn off road on a bike. Five rear flats on bikes? Maybe more. One was catastrophic on freeway. (OSHP saw it happen and took me home to get the van. Thanks trooper.) That's plenty for me. I'll stick with new tires. I'm pushing my luck. (And yeah, I've blown out plugs, and just stopped and put another one in.)
  11. The tracker on mine drains the battery kinda fast with the GPS on all the time. But I've used it a few times, and the speeds recorded kinda surprised me. Too low in some places, and too high in others. But all were accurate.
  12. Yeah punks, go rabble somewhere else... Thanks for the pics Sapphy, I was watching the news choppers hover around downtown. I figured they were doing the photo shoots of the state house visitors.

  15. Ok, I've found 52 songs with "motorcycle" in the song title, done by 395 different albums. I'm not listing them all...
  16. Every freakin' song on the Easy Riders album... But to be specific, the first two songs... Tracks Disc 1 1 The Pusher Steppenwolf 5:51 2 Born to Be Wild Steppenwolf 3:39
  17. I checked after yesterday morning's storm. An area from near Marysville to past Findlay was showing 5 or 6 inches of rain. All in a few minutes of the storm front passing. http://www.toledoonthemove.com/news/story.aspx?id=587169
  18. It's somewhat simple, both micro and macro. Invest by betting on the failure of a foreign market, and take that money home to the USA. It's called economic warfare, and most countries that have tried it have failed, after initial gains. But individuals can be successful. Then it doesn't matter what you buy or where it's manufactured.
  19. Oh, and before we laugh about giving a state or two away to pay for debt. That's exactly what countries used to do, in order to pay off debts or generate cash flow. It's how we got most of this country we live in. We bought it. They can buy it too. Oh wait, they might already own it...
  20. It's all about countries investing. Or having more money than they know what to do with. I would think that it's spread around to various countries that will have a solid return. I've thought about it in the past, and with China (and some others), it's like having an IOU to someone that might not necessarily like you all that much. It makes it in their best interests that nothing happens to harm you. The economies of the USA and China and Japan are very tied together. Ok, Korea also, and India and Brazil are next. Times change. The world becomes a different place. And then it changes again...
  21. Mine went into a 45mph tank slapper. Hard to forget. I stayed upright somehow.

  23. There's multiple threads on this subject. It breaks down to three possible answers. 1. never patch a motorcycle tire 2. ok to patch rear motorcycle tire only 3. ok to patch either motorcycle tire Some will say a modern plug patch from the inside is acceptable. No plug / patch that I know of is made for motorcycle tires. They are made for car tires. Mechanics will often refuse to do a plug / patch or any patch on a motorcycle tire. Everyone has a personal opinion. Mine is if it can be afforded, replace it. Especially a front tire. Too risky. An option is to install a tube. That's safe. I will say any patch out on the road that gets you home is acceptable in an emergency repair. I've had three tire blow outs and two or three or four flats on motorcycles. All were rear tires except one front. I never ever want to have a front tire blow out again. Ever. I've kept good fresh tires up front ever since that happened. Sure, I used to patch up tires or replace tubes in bikes when I was younger. But now I just replace the tire and try again. That includes one tire two years ago that was brand new and picked up a nail while leaning through a turn. Not fixable the way it punctured anyway. edit: Radial tires require radial tubes, if one is used. Hardly anyone does that. They are expensive.
  24. Oh that is just asking for it. Send him a bill...
  25. Varmint? 22-250 lol... whack... The rifle you're looking at has potential to be extremely accurate. Don't forget that rounds smaller than 30cal don't handle cross winds very well. But I have no experience with the 17HMR. Honestly I like a tight 22LR for most little varmints, it's more of a challenge. edit: note that you will have to have a scope, there are no sights on that one, only mounts. Favorite varmint scope: Tasco VAR624X42M 6-24x42 It's negative is the mil-dot, which is for mil-spec ammo and war targets, not game. ok, same thing with plain dot Tasco 6-24x44
