  1. Actually, from what I remember from last year, the drama was 90% of the bikes starting up and leaving as soon as the drawing was done. And the resulting wrecks, traffic jams, confusion, etc... Guessing 90% of the bike riders are amateurs, and best to stay out of their way.
  2. She's back! ... and her name isn't Jenny.... http://thechive.com/2010/08/11/a-word-from-jenny-16-photos/
  3. Actually, Time only exists as Time. There isn't any forward and backward at all. Only the perception of previous and future Time compared to now as current. We see the past as the past because we experienced it and have memories of it. Therefore the past exists. We perceive the future as a tangible possibility of events, because we portend that such will happen. Therefore the future exists. Outside of these perceptions of Time, there is no future or past Time. Time is a constant. It's still the exact same Time at all times. (harhar) Unfortunately, Time can also vary as a constant to a given local area, depending upon the relative velocity related to who knows what point of reference that we haven't found yet. This also unfortunately bumps into current theories in physics, that the entire Universe "as we see it", is only a artifact of our own device, or imagination, per se. It's one of the newer "Quantum" theories of human consciousness. It's best to ignore me when I speak about physics... zzzzz Oh, and why didn't the fool just walk in and say "I lied". Wouldn't that leave them stumped? What would they do? Charge him with inciting to riot?
  4. RIP Columbus Dispatch says Yamaha.
  5. Work gear of boots and jeans, with heavy armored jeans jacket w/ lots of vents open, and gloves and helmet. Jacket is good in the cool mornings, and actually flows enough air to be decent going home in the heat. It's been hot enough this year I've wanted a lighter armored leather mesh jacket. edit: I ride city streets to get to work, but take the freeway home. I have to cover both conditions.
  6. +1 my thoughts exactly - she's got guts
  7. I used to watch Japanese police bikes in training. They had to drop the bike at something like 45-50mph on it's side (crash bars), and bring it back up on it's wheels while it was still moving. They were very good at that.
  8. Keep wondering. In 2008 there were 4,967 Ohio motorcycle crashes with 4,430 injuries. I still got no clue what the 600 is. edit: In 2008 there were 686,975 registered Ohio motorcyclists. The largest county is Franklin, with 47,003. Not the best odds, one in 138 will crash. About 7/10th of 1%.
  9. I know, but didn't you read the thread on Bad Journalism? Interesting data:

  11. False! According to the Ohio Department of Public Safety, as of Aug 3, 2010 the number of motorcycle fatalities was 88. That date last year it was 82. 2009 saw a decrease in fatalities. So any reference to percentage increase that compares this year to last year will look larger than normal. An estimate would be a 5 year averaging, which is 180 per year. At the start of August, that portion would be 105. So 88 is well below a five year averaging. Specifically, this year to date, is 16% lower than a five year trending. edit: I think maybe they meant 600 highway deaths, or maybe even 600 deer related deaths, dunno. It's a big number. Ok, I looked that up also, there's only around a dozen deer related fatalities confirmed in Ohio each year. 1996: 118 1997: 108 1998: 115 1999: 120 2000: 120 2001: 123 2002: 138 2003: 138 2004: 133 2005: 177 2006: 157 2007: 190 2008: 213 2009: 163
  12. I did get a cached copy of that webpage to load. The prices were indeed way low. Being the wiseguy I am, I attempted to execute a purchase at those prices on the cached page. No go...
  13. hmmm, for HD to sell back for a dollar (Euro)... MV must have been loaning or supporting HD (or buying in) to a tune that would make them a partner or owner. Time to unload before HD is owned by MV... Wouldn't that have been a trip and a half...
  14. Here's the place in Florida that is doing much of the restorations; http://www.americanaeroservices.com/ I've been to several warbird restorations places in Florida. This one doesn't appear to allow the public in. I'll have to try anyway. The weird part about aircraft in Florida is... when a hurricane suddenly approaches, almost anyone is allowed to fly any aircraft away to another airport where it's safer. It's either that, or be destroyed on the ground. Weeks Warbirds near Miami begged for pilots when hurricane Andrew approached... Here's what happens if you don't allow just any pilot to fly your multi million dollar warbird away from a hurricane:
  15. I've seen schoolbus figure-8 racing at the Xenia track. It's a hoot when one of them falls over...
  16. Their website says the only one they have is "Betty Jane" out of New Smyrna Beach , FL North American TP-51C (Trainer)
  17. WW2 vintage aircraft visiting Bolton Field on Monday through Wednesday. In case anyone wanted to ride over and see them. An hour of flight training in the P-51 for only 3200 bucks! Wings of Freedom Capital City Jet Center @ Bolton Field
  18. You know, kids used to be able to get small black powder cannon for fun and play. Those days have kinda gone away. Seems one of them exploded and now outlawed everywhere. And looking forward to firing workplace mini cannons at selected targets, but alas, I think there's a federal law against that. In my workplace anyway... Darn...
  19. Yeah, I see now that it's out of stock and back ordered everywhere. 94527-19C00 Suzuki molding, meter This part is on backorder. List Price: $4.41 Your Price: $3.68 edit: Try Suzuki SpeedSupplies.Com. They might have it in stock. Probably the first place to look for Suzuki parts. I like cheapcycleparts.com. Good for Honda and low cost shipping from Indiana. If it helps any, it's the same part on all these bikes: » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1993 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1995 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1992 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1994 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1991 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1988 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1990 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1989 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1997 » Suzuki Katana (GSX600F) 1996 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1990 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1994 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1997 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1996 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1992 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1993 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1991 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1995 » Suzuki Katana (GSX750F) 1989
  20. I bought bags of .250 spade connectors M/F, because they are dirt cheap. Not sure yet what to do about the factory connectors. I would like to try some though. I'll have to look under the tail again and see which one I need. I think they come as a set of M and F. (No they don't, each.) edit: I probably need the same one you do, but I swear it was the 050-S. I should just get both. haha he said go beaver
  21. I was just looking at the Eastern Beaver kit for adding a relay and 3 fuse box for 42 bucks. I just did the same thing from individual parts from Amazon for 17.12. And I got a 6 fuse box/Bosch relay, but not counting spade connectors and fuses. Shipping is a killer though, and brought the total to 31.48. Still not bad. The kit is ok, but at some point I'd rather make my own harness. Fits better.
  22. Cycle Barn has been around for a long time as a salvage yard. They have a big webpage full of stuff on eBay. Also, if your locks work, a good locksmith can make a key for it cheap.
  23. The part that holds the gauges is only 4.41 new. The three meter cushions are 5 bucks each. So maybe you mean the bracket under it. used gauge bracket on ebay - 10 bucks new ones are 32.38 Instruments, well, those are expensive and hard to find used. Complete assembly even harder to find, and none on ebay right now. Except for the one that shows a picture of other parts. Hard to tell what is selling. Some sort of mistake when the sale was posted by the seller. Something like 1988 through 1994 should fit? ebay gauge cluster oops, here's a 92 and a 94... but dunno about which model Katana, there were two types? 1992 cluster - 145.00 1994 cluster - 99.99 I used Google shopping to find these.
  24. I was wondering why the manual didn't mention that one. Kickstand switch seems to be a really common failure.
  25. You should have a master key and one or two user keys? Maybe the immobilizer code is wiped out. The master key should allow the user key to reset the ignition. There's a procedure in the service manual. Note that if the user keys are too close to each other at the ignition, the immobilizer can get confused and refuse.
