The wireless connection devices that David showed, are useful when your flat panel screen is wall mounted, or your projector is ceiling mounted. The wireless eliminates a great deal of hassle.

yeah, I was gonna say. Geez... that's an AV out, not a serial port. I run my laptop with a simple VGA to VGA (to portable projector). I have to reverse the video out with the video on the computer screen. Because my laptop is old, and I want the higher resolution on the AV out. It won't do both. Basically I shut the image down on the computer screen to get that. It's a 9 pin AV out on old MAC computers, if I remember rightly. Before they went to IBM compatible monitors. A serial cable fits it, I think, and that's wrong. Seen people burn up monitors trying to "adapt" old style MAC monitor to IBM video output on a newer MAC.

I used to just ride the bike up the steps. Got to plan ahead to wiggle through the doorway though, if the handlebars/mirrors are too wide. And yeah, I've known guys to get tickets for doing that. Rare, but I wouldn't do it while a city cop was watching me. Or you can do it the enginerd way, take it apart and carry one piece inside at a time. Putting it back together when inside is optional. Cleaning and polishing each piece is required. Fun is riding backwards down the steps...

Yeah, it's one ear only. Ear plugs are the same deal. Cars get ticketed for headphones, but motorcycles seem to be left alone. And yeah, most law enforcement don't know it's illegal under the helmet. See, there's a reason to wear a helmet. Technically, they can't see under the helmet. So there is no evidence, other than non substantial. Like two wires going into the helmet. So unless you're being pulled over for something else (and take your helmet off), it's a non issue. btw, the way the law reads, speakers that are built into the helmet are legal. Go figure. It also states that illegal use of headphones must cover the ears or plug the ears. ummmm, doesn't the helmet cover the ears? Isn't that one big ear plug? There's no exception for deaf people, or people who can hear in only one ear. What if they have something in that one ear or can't hear? Would it matter if a deaf person had earplugs in? Wouldn't being deaf be the same thing in the first place as well? I'm full of questions tonight.

btw, I'd say the odds of the plane crashing in an ordinary fashion, is greater than a terrorist on board. So by the standards applied here, I suppose you'all want to be the pilot too. I know where the electrical harness, hydraulic lines, and fuel tanks are located on an aircraft. I still wouldn't want to try firing a weapon, unless the other guy had one and was doing the same. That won't be happening anymore. Over powering an assailant is fine, and works well in a crowded space like the cabin of an aircraft. Works better if you're the dude with handcuffs. I talked with an airport official for a while before I left. He had something happen on a flight he was on. He was told that if he had reacted he probably would have been arrested. It was only a guy in total panic trying to flee the aircraft before it departed. The task is correctly identifying a threat. Flight crews are capable of dealing with it, and really don't want help. If it gets out of control, they will take the help, but if they say go back and sit down, you better do it. imho

Two flights tonight, and only one mention of "don't have anything on your lap or on the floor in front of you". And everyone ignored that. Domestic flights... no change... Security screening was standard. oh, and the stupid Delta "roasted" peanuts were blanched and stale. I don't know why I bother. Wait, I didn't ask for them, they just showed up on the tray. Argh...

e That's pretty cool, but you still have to buy the rails, and rail clamps, and rail gear, etc. If you were wanting more than a flashlight, I suppose it's something that will do anything.

Should be ok. I'll wear mine today on a flight and see if I get any crap. Once was told to shut player off before landing, which I do anyway. (I was asleep that time and missed it.) TSA website says no changes for domestic flights. Zero. Some of the airlines haven't figured that part out yet. Possible extra security on screening, at random, might be encountered. The changes are for international flights arriving in USA. No nothing for the last hour before landing. No leaving seats, no accessing overhead or stuff, and nothing on the lap. Put it all away. Pocket stuff like headphones and player should be ok. Laptops no. Cameras, well, cameras are touchy anyway Some airlines already had a rule for no photos allowed at all. We'll see. Additional undescribed security features at the point of departure for USA bound flights will be encountered. Most airlines will take the easy way out, and request limited carry-on. This is all TSA has said so far about international flights into the USA:

I've not even tried short stunt skis. I learned on extremely long down hill racer skis. Which won't make it through the moguls worth a darn.

some of us wear cheap Skull Candy ear buds, and it doesn't matter what type of helmet. They are passive noise canceling. No electronics, they work like ear plugs to kill road noise. The sound quality is very good. 11 to 15 bucks. Sometimes on sale at Target.

My Mom learned to shoot with a Colt 1911 38 super auto. 1920s style. When it came time to go away, I missed it by a day. Aunt took it to a gun shop and sold it. I don't even want to know how little the shop gave her for it. Argh.... They were tres popular back then. It's what the Feds used to deal with bank robbers. Not to mention that whole Sargent York thing with the 1911 in WW1. The other hugely popular piece was the 45acp revolver. If it's one of those, it's a keeper. But yeah, it's probably a cheap no name 32 or 38 (old style 38 short) revolver from a catalog or hardware. The Chicago style stuff of the era that flooded the market. It'll be interesting if it turns out to be an old smoothbore (no rifling in the barrel) revolver from the 1900s.

For CCW, light is where it's at. The lighter the rig is, the more likely you will wear it. For CCW, stainless steel is where it's at. Resistant to the abuse of carry. Hammerless is a personal option. The hammer can snag and stop your draw. Consider a 5 shot revolver, for even smaller and lighter. Recoil is huge on magnum snubbies, enough to miss the target. Try it first and see. All brands mentioned are good to excellent. Can't go wrong on most. I prefer Colts and S&W, but Taurus and Ruger are respectable. Maybe not the earlier model Taurus, but the late model are fine. Some of those liners have little pockets on the back for the little packet heaters. There was a thread about them a while back. Cheap Chinese made gloves, and they work great for three seasons. Wouldn't wear them in the heat of Summer though. Liners, heh... Special Forces wear panty hose to stay warm in the water. Liners work better than you would think. And keep the leeches from biting too. A bonus.
