I remember that in that first year, open carry was outlawed in favor of concealed. It didn't hold, and was removed. Assuming I remember correctly.

Texas is different about open carry. I forget the exact rules, but they are restrictive compared to Ohio. Don't make me look them up. Anyone can look them up. quick look... open carry of handguns is not allowed (in Texas) open carry of rifles and shotguns is not forbidden unless it is done in a manner "calculated to cause alarm". Rural open carry ok. (in Texas) The Texas standard is: In Texas, it is generally illegal to carry a handgun outside of a person’s own premises. BUT...Texas law allows a handgun on your own property. And in your vehicle without a permit. And in transit from your house or car or boat. That is distinctly different than Ohio. and here's the edit: "Thirty-two states allow the open display of loaded weapons, while California, Utah, and North Dakota require that openly displayed guns be unloaded, according to the Brady Campaign. What isn't seen here is that there is a strong possibility that Texas will be the first state to allow CCW holders to open carry. Much of what is in the news might be a shadow attempt to prevent it from happening. Or prevent it from happening in other states. (Fear and Loathing) So take a sip of media juice and pass it around. The question of who did what is vague. Everything is far from what it appears to be. Particularly with media (and politics).

*reads* . . . I don't think there's any shortage of "being afraid" or "being offended". And I think that open displays in Texas are pretty much good old Texas boys. Probably only makes "news" when in a national chain (fear and offended), never in a local store. And if I remember right, open carry in Texas is restricted a lot more than many other states.

So was FaceBook... and I suppose a few others... aren't we popular... edit: that "manner of walking" is used in targeting databases, for drones, for high value targets. It gives a measure of correct identification at distances where other details cannot be seen or are obscured. A reasonably important consideration, since we all might look like this:

I like a good tire up front. Don't like sudden blow outs in the front tire. In back I'll patch and stuff. Then again I'm the guy that is riding a second year with the same chunk of metal in the back tire (it didn't leak). Maybe you shouldn't listen to me. (Yeah, it's starting to move around and cut the tire. Time to replace it.)

Actually, I'm guessing we're pulling some troops out and quietly putting them on the Syrian border. The number already there is pretty high. Just advisers, nothing to see here, move along... edit: When all of those advisers are trained as FAC, they will be difficult to deal with.

There's something there we want. Best guess: hard to find metals and mining. The Chinese aren't there for the hell of it. So are we. Well ok, copper is at the top of the Chinese list, it's not readily available for them. We might be there for rare earth metals, China isn't short on those and they charge us a lot. Watching the D-Day movie this morning, and thinking again. I see in the news that Europe has a bit of a response to Russia's "declarations of possession" in the Ukraine. They elected hard core right wing politicians in all the European elections. Notice also that China's "declarations of possession" caused a backlash of increased military power in countries all around it. This is where I get to say "careful what you wish for".

Similar story on my stock front. It looked weird when it was wearing out. Didn't happen on any replacement tires. 26psi is stupid. That's the design lower limit of all tires. Too risky that it would go lower. If it does go lower, it starts to slowly destroy the tire. I would guess that slowly the cord had started to change or separate. Replace the tire now. Run the pressure from tire standards based on vehicle weight. If it handles strange, get a bike that doesn't do that. Tire pressure (and design of tires) is based on tire size and load (weight of tire and passenger). Anything else like adjusting for handling or traction is generally premature wear. Without looking it up, 36psi would have been closer to the correct pressure for max load on board.

What's next? Not allowed to carry a passenger or trunk? Where do you find a Harley branded passenger? Oh, nevermind... A large flag can actually give lift to the front wheel when it's doing it's thing. Mostly because it's up high and has a force vector that can "pull" the front wheel up. But I have doubts it exceeds the "drag" of a passenger and luggage. Jerks. edit: I suppose their point was this extra drag was in addition to a fully loaded motorcycle, pushing over the limit.

ummm, where'd you pick up your tall FSB from? Numrich gun parts? nevermind, it's the integral carry handle upper that requires the old style FSB. Everything else is all the same. (Except the bore diameter.) edit: just to be confusing, I now read that there are four different rear sight shelf heights on detachable carry handles. Can't tell which one it is till it arrives and is measured. No clue on that... Ok, the two basic types match the height of the FSB. Some manufacturers use the old lower FSB with the flat top and then add a carry handle that is lower to match. It's .040" difference. Won't notice much if mismatched until trying to use at greater range.

HA! A2 flat top or carry handle upper? Can't quite tell by looking. And did you get a taller front sight base to match? If it was carry handle upper. Or is it even necessary for a carry handle on a flat top? Curious he is. edit: you need some old school 20 round mags...

lol, my imagination sees a bike stuck on the side of a passing dump truck. I certainly wouldn't park too close to a trash dumpster. Might take a while to pry it off...

I've done the kickstand thing and the light changed right away. But really not sure if it was about to change anyway. State of Ohio traffic engineers say to position the largest chunk of metal in the corner of the grid cut in the street. upper left is about where you want to be to drop the kickstand on the sensor cut anyway.

I volunteered sweep in one of the Hocking trips. Quickly found the back rider was uncomfortable. We've all been there, mostly a first trip into an unknown. Fell too far back to effectively see the next rider up for clues. He was smart enough to wave me ahead to lead him. It worked. I can watch him from in front while not doing anything stupid. Total surprise though, I just did not know one out of thirty would be in need.

I had a 66 LeMans. I took it up Mulholland in LA one night. I pretty much got my butt handed to me by a Porsche and Jaguar passing on an uphill blind RH curve. I figured they knew where they were and I didn't.
