  1. The Gander flyer said fri-sat-sun
  2. Yup, no excuses. Outside there being a law against it in every city, it's not that hard to train a dog to poop only in it's own yard.
  3. Dave, I don't expect some of my orders to show up for 6 to 12 months. But some places will have stuff and ship right away. Ruger is probably selling one of the name brand speed loaders. HKS and Safari are popular. HKS rotates to release and Safari pushes to release. If it says it will fit, it should be ok.
  4. Yup, didn't take long. I took a rough count of states that have introduced either a ban, or a prohibition of federal interference within the state. Going back to 2010. 18 state bills attempted a ban or modification to a current ban. Including one in California that attempted to regulate possession by law enforcement officers. NY, NY, NY, CA, CA, IL, IL, CT, NY, CT, NY, TX, CA, SC, FL, IL, IL, SC. 27 state bills attempted to exempt the state from federal regulation of intra state firearms. Including one that covered everything, one that developed intrastate ammunition manufacturing, and two that would develop firearm manufacturing moving into the state. OK, PA, OK, ME, VA, VA, TX, TX, WA, WA, WV, AL, IN, IA, WV, IA, IA, IA, IN, OK, NC, OK, WV, OR, SC, SC, OK, WV, MT, IA. Not inclusive by any definition. I thought some states had already passed exemption of federal regulation. The majority of both pro and con do not become law. Summary: 60% state action to prohibit federal interference. Especially WV, OK, IA. 40% state action to ban assault weapons. 2/3rds of that is NY, CA, & IL. Some states go both ways. SC, TX. edit: If NY, CA, and IL are ignored, it's 82% of the attempted state legislation wants no federal firearm interference.
  5. Guess I guessed wrong about him making it over the border. Or maybe this is what he wanted.
  6. I'm putting it on the list of rather weird things found on Mars. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

  13. heat gun or spreader torch it does sound like a mess, but if heat works, I'd remove it. If heat doesn't work, I'd leave it. Lots of energy required, even if only 20 square feet. I have a friend stripping an entire house of all it's tile. Some on slab, and some not. He's using two heat guns, and alternates them. He doesn't want to overheat and melt them. I can ask him what he did for really tough parts of it.
  14. HEAT GUN crowbar chisel hammer square edge shovel (flat head shovel) if more than 20 years old, there's a good chance it's asbestos tile and/or adhesive
  15. 223/556 ammo is showing up in stock again. With limits on amount sold. Most will cost about a dollar a round or higher. Ack! I did see this for mail order 500 pack at $325 from Natchez Federal Independence AR 5.56x45mm 55Gr FMJ 500 Rounds
  16. I saw that on facebook. And I though one of the links was to the LA Times. But it appears to be all strange news sources when I search. I have read that his truck was found on property of some one he knows, who may have aided him. I suspect the truck was burned long after he was gone in another direction. And by now he's in Mexico somewhere.
  17. A German retailer has leaked specs of the new motorcycle TomTom in it's catalog. Supposedly it will have a larger screen, the ability to select routes with "roads with the most curves" option, and will be loaded with motorcycle rider POI (points of interest). It is still rainproof (IPX7), vibration proof and is equipped with Bluetooth. Bikes in the fast lane article http://photos.imageevent.com/motorbiker/newspics4/TomTom-Rider-5.jpg

  19. Yes, but... Identification laws can help stop identification fraud. We are now a society that requires each citizen to have a local and/or international identification card of a type that cannot be easily falsified. If not now, then soon, it shouldn't be a problem to require that identification to vote or do anything else. Most states have moved to that level of identification to get a driver's license. I would think voting would be just as important. logic: Citizens have identification identification is required to vote ergo: citizens can vote And I don't think a particular party is responsible for this. The current changes are from the current party. And this began after 9/11. It is a change in our nation overall, and the citizens that wish to participate should pay attention and comply. Do we really want to know how many false identification cards were out there? That is what has caused the changes.
  20. There is also a threat of solar flares and similar solar events, for the next year or so. Those can fry communications satellites quickly. It's happened before, knocking out TV, GPS, and phone services in some areas.
  21. Same here. A trip to Florida put me in a notorious zone of deceit along the freeway. My card would not work in gas stations at that exit. I also had enough cash on me to buy several tanks of gas and get home. I've always used a cash back up. I do not use cards in restaurants. They are notorious places of card theft. Cash only. I've also taken advantage of new style instant notifications, when my card is used. The credit union or proxy of the credit union, sends an email notification to my phone, for each transaction. And also notifies when the account is accessed on line either successfully or not. Also realized that cards are putting up rather intense defenses lately (denying transactions), and decided to get a second card. I was only using one. I went for one of the major cash cards. I didn't think much of all the fees, penalties, rules, regulations of Visa and MasterCard, and picked up an American Express cash card instead. I somehow got hit with two bogus monthly accounts on freecreditreport.com, on the Visa card. One call to them got all the money back. It must be very common. After that I set up all the defenses listed above. edit: And shut that card off and got a new one. My credit union recommended that I call them if I'm going out of town. That's not the way it used to work. And I don't blame the credit union, I believe the actions are from that name on the card. Visa, which is Bank of America. I now carry the relevant phone numbers for all cards, on my phone. So I can call and fix it when it happens. Be aware that it will drain your phone battery, and that you'll need a power connection when you make the calls. It will take quite a while, and disconnects and call backs are expected. I've seen some banks start up a "one shot" credit card service, for on-line purchases. I wish all of them did that. You get on-line with the bank, set the once only amount from your account, and it generates a one time card number. No one can steal that, it no longer exists after the one time usage. Not too sure either debit or credit cards are safe anymore. The bank defenses are getting tighter on both, and attacks on both exist. Some attackers avoid the debit card, and would rather go after the credit card. I think the real issue is 30 days to file for false transactions on a credit card, and only two days on a debit card. Or something similar. It's a measure of our times, that electronic attacks directly on banks and credit unions are becoming more common also.
  22. What? Should I change mine and then change his to the CIA? lol... They might not think that was funny... edit: just kidding. Can't do that without his proxy provider admin. Not that there isn't a way, but it's a lot of work.
  23. yeah, not from the Netherlands. The more said, the more obvious. How to change your IP address to the Netherlands
  24. So around Ohio it was windy yesterday, with a bit of rain. And in the North East a giant snow and wind storm hits. It was the combined merger of two storms. Look how the events in Ohio were connected on this radar map loop. http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/HRRR/jsloopLocalDiskDateDomain.cgi?dsKeys=hrrr_jet:&runTime=2013020814&plotName=cref_t3sfc&fcstInc=60&numFcsts=16&model=hrrr&ptitle=HRRR%20Model%20Fields%20-%20Experimental&maxFcstLen=15&fcstStrLen=-1&resizePlot=1&domain=t3 The weird part, is that burst that shows up centered around Toledo, and suddenly goes all directions South. It's moving really fast. Was this another one of those Derecho type downdraft bursts? Not sure, it might have been just a center of high or low pressure.
  25. Dislocated my shoulder trying to lift something that weighed way too much. Trying to lift it over my head did the trick. Partial dislocation and tore who knows what. Popped it back in myself, after I figured out what happened. It was messed up for a few years, but luckily it healed up slowly on it's own. I was very careful not to repeat or make it worse for quite a while.
