  2. 2 questions.. haven't read the thread end to end so flame on if this has been covered.. 1. how often are the gas stops.. I'm only good for about 200 slab miles before the light comes on.. and I can imagine once we get out into no mans land were speed limits are more like speed guidelines I'll be well under 200 miles on a tank. So we'd have to stop at least every 200 miles for gas unless I strap a gas can. 2. whats the cost for a trip like this run.. ballpark.. Do you roll in nice hotels, roach motels, or even camp a day here and there?? Just wondering if I have to harvest a kidney.. All of my trips to this point have been of the dollar stretch variety. saddle bags, tail case, 2up, 7 days, 2000+ miles for under $800.
  3. I know when we're 2up we're only good for about an hour straight or a 100 miles, which ever comes first.. And those ever so rare occasions when both come first.. 6-8 hour riding day we typically feel good and accomplished... 10 hours of riding, usually sore and waiting for the end of the day... 12 hours and it's no longer about the ride.. its all about the destination.. more than 10 hours on back to back days fatigue begins to become an issue. Doesn't matter how spirited or how scenic.. I can only imagine though what a day trip on an RR would feel like.. look at it this way.. you'l strengthen your back and abs if your practice good seat technique..
  4. oh there was no doubt we could be heard.. Now there was a good magnaflow or something on that Durango..
  5. It was a bit late in the planning but I had offered up my guest room to takers.. Next time maybe..
  6. It's really weird this year how incredibly patchy the foliage has been this year.. awesome though
  7. how about centerstand dragging? Or pretty damn close..
  8. Not sure what is involved to dub this a Meet and Greet but I'd be willing to put together another ride next year. Emily's working on T-Shirt ideas.. If it looks like it could be priced decent enough we'll see if we can't get a few printed.. She's a graphic designer so she can get hookups or at least knows where to look for the hookups.
  9. I'm lazy.. here. http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t43/armith/Covered%20Bridge%20tour%20O-R%2010-3-09/?albumview=slideshow
  10. slight panoramic of rainbow NOW TELL ME THAT ISN'T THE PICTURE PERFECT WAY TO END A TRIP!
  11. oh yeah.. Tell me that you guys saw that full rainbow that popped up RIGHT when you guys were leaving Covered Bridge Pizza! If not, I got a panoramic..
  12. Thank you all for coming out.. Thank you for your kinds words.. The scout work was worth it.. Could you imagine trying this ride "off the cuff"? It really turned out so much better than I expected.. Emily and I had a blast.. I'll probably just upload the whole memory card and post the photobucket album. Glad the weather held up for you all.
  13. Looks it's just us for 2 up.. It'll be all good. see you all in a few hours!
  14. Ohio seems to be a perpetual chance for rain about 9 months out of the year.. the other 3 months is snow. You two don't get out much on the bike do you? Just teasing.. Seriously, It's cool.
  15. I can handle a dry tour and a moist ride home..
  16. There shouldn't be that much mud to contend with as I've eliminated as much of the unpaved goodness as possible. But its cool.. If you happen to change your mind, this thing is 100% a go.. whether its 2 bikes or 20 bikes I'm ready.. Mother nature can kiss my ass.. She'll have all winter to kick it during my commute thru the snowbelt. Drop me a PM if you want my cell.. if you want to join up in Jefferson later in the day even..
  17. The forecast doesn't seem to have changed much.. temps got a degree or two warmer but still a 40% chance of rain. I'm committed now rain or shine.. Barring flooding rain or severe weather I'm going thru with the ride.. I respect those who opt out.. I can understand where cool wet conditions could ruin some fun and enjoyment of the ride. Offer still stands for anyone who wants to bunk down at my place Friday and/or Saturday.. Just let me know by tomorrow night so we have some time to prep and so I can get you directions. This is going to be a great ride!
  18. I think the ZZR is a 180/55.. a 170/60 should work.. just have a narrower patch.. IF anything it'll make it turn in quicker.. If you change your mind, let me know.. I'll keep the rear in the trunk just in case. Hey do I have to be a paid subscriber to lift the 1 PM every 120 minutes limit?
  19. I got a Avon Storm rear thats got enough tread to make the ride and maybe even buy you the rest of the riding season.. I pulled it off for fresh rubber for my dragon trip this past summer.. A little squared but certainly could get you thru the day. If you willing to make a trip down to youngstown we can change the tire out. Or I could meet you in mentor or something tomorrow and bring the tire.. I believe it's a 170/60/17
  20. Just as an FYI.. if you organize a ride and know your looking at a sizable group, you can call Denny's and the work out seating for the group.. I ride an annual burger run in the spring with another group and they usually have the whole back corner reserved.. Though this past spring we had ALOT more bikes than anticipated which caused a bit of issue with the rest of the patrons.. We pretty much took up the whole place.
  21. 1. Route complete.. Will be posting route today in some format. In an effort to minimize dirt/gravel riding and allow some slack in scheduling some of these bridges will require us to double back so expect a few occasions where we arrive at a bridge cross over or whatever and end up going back the way we came to stay on pavement. Total route is still under 80miles. there is also room to trim out a bridge or 2 if time becomes an issue. 2. Since it's been brought up.. I have a small list of things I'd like to cover at the riders meeting. There are some bridges that are going to require a little organization to safely get everyone across and handle potential traffic situations.. It was one thing when it was 4 or 5 people but with the potential of 15-20 bikes I've taken some time to be a little anal about the plans. I will appologize now if I come across as a control freak or jerk.. I have the best of intentions and I promise anything I have to say should not make the ride any less fun.. I'd rather go overboard with some of this stuff than be unprepared and put any of my new friends at risk. 3. We have accomodations for guests for anyone who would like to ride out to youngstown Friday or Saturday evening.. (especially those coming from central Ohio OsuMJ, GSXR750Girl, etc..) couch folds to a bed for 2 in our living room and single bed, in the basement which is almost furnished to be a studio apartment. Even tents and sleeping bags for the truly hardcore..lol Free parking of bikes inside my garage. PM me for free reservations. Oh and there's free coffee and beer..haha 4. by chance does anyone happen to run Scala Q2 headsets? We just picked up a set and it'd be ideal if someone else had one so we could communicate in the group.. No biggie if not.
  22. haha.. not a problem.. I'm just showing off.. took us 3 years to get those shots. Seriously though we'll make sure we get plenty of shots near the bridges, crossing the bridges, etc.. I'm hoping to cap off the last of the route plan today.. leaving now gonna scout the last 2 stops before I go home, tally the mileage and time.. So far the map is showing around 70 miles from start to finish.
