  1. hmm.. painted front wheel orange? ya'll on your own for that.. I ain't got that kind of patience or skillz to photochop that.
  2. Black upper, black rear fairing, black front fender with black V fairing.. My personal taste... That all turned out much better than I had hoped.. Especially with my kindergarten PS skillz.
  3. you were talking about the rear fairing right??? or the V behind the front wheel? Here's the black rear fairing
  4. Agreed.. Not many bikes designed to be full faired look good naked. The 800 has too nice a shape to ruin like that.. Although I did see an old school VFR 750 fightered a couple years back at a Knoxville Lube bike night. That didn't look horrible..
  5. the brighter orange concept kinda reminds me of the kick ass black/orange 600RR paint scheme.. Though it really worked on the 600rr, I don't think it would look right on the VFR.. Screw it, fighter it, problem solved.
  6. I'm not a photoshop person but maybe something vaguely along the lines of this?
  7. my returning demon has been not looking far enough thru a corner and body positioning.. When I first started riding, not turning my head and looking far enough was a real problem.. Exaggerated look thru seemed so bogus.. But after some serious miles, I felt I had corrected that and noticed a difference in smoothing out my corner entry. It was good for a while but my last trip to down to Deals Gap and riding with some less experienced riders quickly brought out a pucker moment and when I reflected on it I realized had I looked further thru the corner I may have had more time to emergency correct my line and been less of a pucker. My last ride with couple rides with Doc also made me self conscious about it and I realized I was getting lazy. I also find that by not looking far enough ahead that I'm losing my ability to hold corner speed to the exit.
  8. Youngstown city school kids was probably just heading home. that's standard practice around these parts..
  9. for a clinic instructional ride, there is no need to set any speed records.. Thats not the point.. When it comes to the mechanics and technique we have the stretches of roads to go over things.. that one stretch of 164 would be good.. few miles, has a little bit of everything.. +1 one on the idea of a OR track day though.. If I had leathers and the disposable income I'd have been hitting Nelson and Beaver Run already.
  10. Actually, I could always use some practice to flush out some demons that seemed to creep up the past couple months.. Paul, you should setup an clinic ride.
  11. i'm going for Sat, Oct 15th.. The 1st is quickly approaching I've got obligations and weather outlook is already questionable. Plus I haven't had time to finalize the route.. As for gas.. An ambitious route would be a little over a 100 mile day.. And we will be within civilization for a gas stop about 35-40 miles in.. Depending how your come into Bula (interstate) there should be ample gas stops.. So unless your only getting school bus fuel economy or the gas tank is smaller than your bladder, I don't see there being a problem. This is all scenic low speed stuff.
  12. Hey Bad if you keep it up, insurance might total it and Likwid will owe you a brand new VFR.
  13. I'm known for my long winded responses.. Like this one coming The Dragon itself doesn't suck.. It's still a unique road unlike any other.. But it's probably one of the most dangerous stretches of road anywhere and getting worse because of wedge driven between tourists, locals, and enforcement.. Throw in the fact that 18 wheel trucks still roll thru there and could give 2 shits about having police escort even though there is adequate signage and police on the road saying they're supposed to or take an alternate route.. And lets not forget, it's not just bikes.. I go down for a group meet the same time the Miata National event.. there's always tuners and drift king wanna bes, and sometimes midlife crisis drivers with stock roadsters who think they have Formula 1 cars (until they understeer right into a tree). It is what it is, you learn it, you respect it, you get over yourself and realize this is a US highway and it wasn't paved for you or the asshole that just blew around at a 110 dragging bar ends before it bites its to make Killboys homepage. or you end up on the tree of shame or god forbid worse. The dragon gets all the attention but people are finding out that there is so much more to see and ride.
  14. damn those are some good pictures Lost... I'm just going to have to take the map and do this ride in about 4 weeks when the leaves have changed.
  15. I don't always drink beer.. but when I do.. Its Yuengling.. No seriously, tailgating or beer pong Yuengling and Blue Light are about all I can stomach. Other than that there's some microbrews here and there that I've enjoyed. I was so damn tired of having to run to PA or WV to get my fix..
  16. I had a nail go sideways into my rear tread with 800 miles.. Sucked ass as I was 700 miles from home.. I was faced with the proposition, plug/patch in Deals Gap, 2 up, in late July.. Or replace the tire and ask for a bottle of KY when he hands me the bill. I replaced the tire. However, if it were me this time of year and with my normal riding style.. I'd say combo kit or bust.
  17. can't resist.. Here is why the dragon isn't fun anymore.. Blue haired fucks deciding to go on a sunday fucking drive and drive so slow they started a day early.. we did manage to flirt with death a blurring GPS confirmed 17mph.. Pretty bad when the Can-Am spyder and Harley that pulled off to take a picture caught us. here's me doing some running man.. Any slower I'd have pushed the bike. On the other hand. The Dragon is still fun even at quazi sane speeds. There's exceptions to every situation.. I'm sorry with the kind of blind corners and stuff, driving slow I think is just as dangerous.. Maybe your video proves to be slightly more extreme a example.. But you do 10+ miles per hour below the posted speed limit Johnny Laws double yellows can kiss it. I've ridden the dragon enough times.. When I go down there I make a couple passes for pictures and to get it out of my system.. There are so many other roads in that region that are so much more fun and a lot less traffic and leos to contend with.. 28 to north georgia is awesome.. Skyway is awesome, Devil's triangle, etc, etc.. If the dragon isn't any fun for you, don't ride it.. really that simple.. one less bike on that road, one less person who takes that chance to make the tree of shame.
  18. well I won't be attending the ride as I have obligations.. I was able to squeak out a couple hours but not the entire day.. Congrats on the purchase though.. If you need any tech help with your cat you know how to reach me.
  19. so whats the deal... Am I meeting somewhere tomorrow to go look at a yzf? I still don't understand the hangup on mileage and noise factor of the one bike.. but to each his own.. 23k miles ain't shit.. and you've got cheap (practically free) options to quiet her down. the ZZR was a good plan B until you said salvage.. trying to flip a salvage title ain't that easy.. Anyways, hit me up if you need a second opinion on any of the cats (yzfs). SHIT OR GET OFF THE POT.. your running out of days to ride bro..
  20. Just for the record.. Valve clearance inspection is at 26,600 miles per the service manual.. If you check the YZF600R.com forums it is normal to hold off to 28-30k range when your more comprehensive maintenance is scheduled. Meaning the stuff you'll already have the bike apart for anyway.. And it is also quite common that members have gone past 50k miles with valve clearances still within spec. Unless you've really thrashed the motor (stunting, intermediate track days, etc.) these motors are low maintenance. I highly doubt you'll put up the kind of mileage and abuse that would put you in the critical maintenance category before the snow flies.
