I just think Ohio and Iowa have similar winters. Maybe Iowa is a bit more wintery. Both can have harsh or mild years. Both are large states...YMMV.

Went out for a couple hour ride this morning... 725 is shut down in Germantown. I am not familiar with the side streets there. On the north side there is a 90 degree turn. I was approaching it at a slow legal speed. While in the turn, this f-150 comes barreling up, too fast to negotiate...so he locks the tires up to avoid T-boning me. We were within kissing distance. There were all kinds of people that just stopped in their tracks to watch me almost die. They were all shaking their heads and shrugging their shoulders in confusion. then... I got lost in town and came through the same area. A mere bock away from the first scare, is a 5-way intersection. I stopped. Started to turn left, and almost got hit by a new GMC. This one was my fault. I thought he had a stop sign as well. Funny part is...there is a "dangerous intersection" sign that was in the oncoming lane, unavailable for me to see.

The OP posted a bad experience he had. I would be mad If my brand new bike/auto was not serviced to the specs that are readily available. At how many PSI over/under the specs would you allow the service department put your tires before you were pissed? Too much oil is total noob status by the service department. The dealer trying to charge him for an "adjustment" on the exhaust butterfly valve, on a brand new bike, is also BS. No dealer has to fill the gas tank after a sale. However, it is an incredibly cheap/easy way to increase customer satisfaction. OP, thanks for the heads up about this place! Did I miss the posts about the people that are happy with this place? All the flamers need to get a life.

I've lived all over. I've driven in the majority of the States. To me, Ohio's roads are "comparable" to others. Yes, there are some outright horrible ones...same as everywhere. Lol. Heavy trucks, "harsh winters", no money...LOL. "Iowa has far worse winters" ... far worse than Hawaii maybe. Go to Europe for good roads.

lol. If I had a "bike garage" separate from the "plain ol' garage" I might have an easier task of convincing the wife. My subdivision is also strict on putting up sheds. Thanks for everyone's replies. I am in ZERO hurry. I will try to keep my eye out for a CLEAN stock 03-05, that hasn't been laid down, dropped, or crashed, mileage unimportant, "recalls" performed, YZF-R6. Having a trailer, hopefully I can find a steal in the winter months.

I think I want an "older" Fuel Injected 600 SS. My initial research has me leaning toward a 2003-2005 R6. I like the looks and the price ranges I have seen(around $4K). What are your thoughts on the 2003-2005 R6? Problem areas? **Would your wife kill you if you got a 3rd bike?**

It will be perfectly legal when bike insurance rates rise. It will be perfectly legal when cagers hate/misunterstand us more than they already do. Do what YOU need to do. For this guy the risk is not worth the reward, and I would not support legislature allowing it.

My thoughts exactly. Why would you want to put yourself closer to a cage. Why would would you allow yourself to be boxed in by cages? If you're worried about traffic congestion...leave earlier. If you're worried about getting rear ended while stopped, watch your mirrors & have an escape route. I may have been on board with this before cell phones/texting...but eff that noise now.
