  1. Tried to edit the post above but can't figure out how to do it. Why does Casper keep breaking the software?

Shad makes the factory cases for my bike so their stuff is good quality. The service from the USA distributor is a little lacking however unless you buy from them through EBay.

I rode 800 from the river to Urichsville on Sunday. It is a mixed bag of good and not so good.

The one good thing about not having a sportbike is that these things just don't matter. I'm impressed with the BMWs ability to handle less than ideal roads.

We've met once before, at the gap trip one year I think...

Sorry don't remember that specifically, you must have been on the FJR and we didn't ride together. I'm getting up there in age and can finally blame a poor memory on it.

  4. Young punk kid shows up on the ride with blistered track tires, no way was I telling him who I was. It would have been embarrassing to have some young kid school me on a street ride, I should have given him a fake name.

I mean we were out riding Sunday. I don't think we pissed too many people off...🤣

Who told you that I was UP? That's not how I introduced myself.

  6. I will be in this area from the 22nd to the 25th

    http://www.thesnake421.com/

Currently have one big route planned and three short routes planned. Hitting several roads north of Tazewell.

Will also be doing Back of the Dragon (16) between Tazewell and Marion.

Staying in Tazewell for something like $60 a night for a room by myself because I hate sharing a room with smelly snoring guys.

  7. Riding it to work would be difficult.

    The bad:

1 The gearing would have to be changed to keep up with traffic.

2 Need to take your foot off of the peg to change gears, which would have to happen often.

3 The tires are magic off pavement and like riding on marbles on pavement.

4 The range of the gas tank is about the size of a push lawnmower.

    The good:

1 Everything would be an obstacle that needs to be ran over. Filtering would mean driving OVER traffic instead of between it.

  8. I get what you're saying about feeling at home in a particular place by something indescribable. I hang out a Kennedy's Sport Cycles on Saturdays when I don't have anything going on and I get the same sensation there you are describing.

  9. There was something written up about it on here somewhere in the past. Coming out of the woods down hill there was a couple just starting to walk across the bridge that distracted and took a second off of the decision process. No one knew which direction the road went and the split second decision was made to go right into the parking lot instead of following the road left. A bumpy airborne ride followed by heavy braking with all of us inches from each other when we finally came to a stop in a parking lot.

I found the location on maps hopefully it imbeds.

    Awesome!

It probably is. That was the worst trail I have ever taken. I will plan better this year :) maybe.

Please tell me about your special power that allows you to plan around bugs while hiking.

Chris isn't invited, remember the 4 of us doing that?

You know, the day we all almost died a few times. Once into a creek bridge

That was as close as you can come to wrecking without doing so. I'll never forget it, Wolf Pen Gap Road heading east out of Suches, GA.

  11. First time I rode to the gap was in 2005 for the Busa Bash. I forget what happened that got me there at this time but I ended up riding the gap sometime after midnight on my way to Phillips Motel in Robbinsville which was the host hotel for the gathering.

There was a bear on the right side of the road rummaging around that I spooked so he took off running across the road and splated himself right against the rock bank like something out of a cartoon. Now he feels trapped so he darts back across the road right in front of me, I didn't miss hitting him by more than a foot.
