  1. This is true, Jinx would leave you in about three curves but he doesn't ride a Katana. 270 lbs shorts, tennis shoes, no helmet, crazy and fearless. He has a new 2011 ZX10R with some go fast mods and I can't believe how fast the bike is, hell he can't believe it either. He passes me in the same curve on the outside riding down 83 laying a big fat darkie. He would try to trick you into thinking he is slow and then embarrass you. He is not the norm though.
  2. What an interesting neighborhood you live in. My first grown-up thought is to tell you to stay away from riding with him period. My other side says to go riding with him but leave him so fast and so hard that he can't get sucked into getting in over his head. I mean be gone in three curves lights out leave him do not obey group riding etiquette. If he has any sense he will want you to show him how to do that so you get to mentor him by making him follow some rules and if he won't you won't ride with him, this should keep him under control and from hurting himself. Only do this if you can find a way to put some gear on him. Lend him some, make him borrow or buy some but do not ride with him until he has some. Your call, take pictures and type up a ride report if you choose to hurt him.
  3. Do not organize by regions, organize by skill level. Most people know where they belong and make it to that group. Those who don't belong where they pick can be moved by the sweep rider if they see behavior that isn't safe. This is why it is important to have an experienced sweep rider, someone who is willing to sacrifice their ride to keep things organized and safe. That group was about 25 riders plus or minus two or three and worked out quite well for the most part. It was kind of semi organized plus the guys from Coshocton cooperate well together. There were other group rides about that size that worked out about the same, they were all good times. The success of those rides is what inspired the big group last year. That didn't turn out as well as possibly but at least half of the folks had a good time. We had several things go wrong that we didn't handle well including a guy who showed up with a bike that wasn't in good working order that started a whole snowball effect.
  4. I was there Saturday and Sunday. Competed in my first trials event with a borrowed bike. That shit is hard to do.
  5. I do believe the scientists and once they say something is fact we shouldn't question it. Man made global warming has been scientifically proven to be a fact, why can't people just get over it and move on?
  6. Yes, that one was tame and the funeral cop approach was the only solution I could come up with to help Nick keep that many bikes together, others joined in once we got going as well but we weren't really organized. The group probably should have been broken into three groups but I didn't know a lot of people in that group nor do I think anyone but Nick knew the route. Besides the two accidents we had a separation of the group for a large amount of time as well but overall a fairly successful outing for the number of riders involved. I wouldn't get involved in another group that big without more people helping out. We tried a group that large again in Coshocton that was broke up into three smaller groups and the first group was the only one that stayed organized. That system has potential but needs to be executed better if there is to be another attempt. The leader and sweep rider need to know the route, the lead rider needs to wait at all stops for the entire group to arrive before moving on. Groups should only have about a dozen riders in them. The following groups should be doing the same route and the lead riders should be waiting for the all is well signal from the sweep rider before proceeding. The lead rider and the sweep rider from each group should be the most experienced of the group. This all sounds simple but it somehow becomes complicated when trying it. I am only speculating on its chance for success because I haven't witnessed a large group stay organized ever.
  7. Our local stunters do that almost every Thursday night at 8:00PM, mostly sport bikes except sometimes Jinx and I have followed them on scooters. The whole group runs lights, some ride on the sidewalks and when they get on the highway they basically shut it down by blocking all the lanes and slowing it down to about 40MPH. A lot of ridiculous, stupid funny shit takes place including them running into each other. Once you have seen it in person it's not really all that cool of an event. I have been in a couple 30 plus group rides with varying success and they can be fun but to make them successful they need to be well organized. That is very hard to work out, you will probably need at least six people to volunteer, work and organize such an event.

  10. Actually you couldn't be more wrong about how schools are funded. They are funded several ways but to address your local millage percentage statement this is how it works. A community passes a levy for 10 million so the total value of the properties in the community are added up and divided by what is needed to produce that amount of money. New houses in your community actually reduce everyone else’s burden to produce the 10 million because that is all the levy is allowed to produce. This is also not going to change when the value of the property in the community changes. Let's say for example the whole community’s property takes a 20% hit in value, the amount of property taxes dedicated for school millage remains the same for everyone because they still need to produce the 10 million. If you as an individual get your value reduced but your neighbors don't you might save some money but someone else in your community will be making up the difference because the levy needs to produce the 10 million but it can only produce 10 million. This hurts communities with a large growth in housing that burdens the school with more kids but doesn’t get additional operating levies passed. There are other revenue streams coming from the state that return money based on the number of attending students but it doesn’t fully fund what is needed for the school system. All this being said most school levies don’t need to be passed and scare tactics are used. We have a local school system that hasn’t passed a levy in close to 30 years and I doubt they will pass one ever. They have new schools and it is considered one of the better school districts. They force levies on the community by using state law that doesn’t allow them to go below a minimum of monies to operate. It pisses the people off who don’t vote for a levy but get one assessed to them anyway so they don’t pass new ones. The school system has learned to get by with the minimum state level of funding; they built three new schools a few years ago and are currently building a new one. Edit to add this link: http://chronicle.northcoastnow.com/2010/02/06/though-property-values-down-county-taxes-can-still-rise/ I didn't need to type any of my reply.
  11. If you feel that the schools aren't getting enough money you are free to donate more to them. I'm sure others share your same opinion and would be willing to donate more to the schools as well. Don't make it mandatory for others to do so because some bureaucrat can't balance a budget. Who is harming the kids more the people who pay the taxes and think what they are paying is enough to support the kids or the school system that abuses the money they get not applying it for the kids.
  12. Expect me to whine, bitch, moan and complain if you enact more rules. If someone does something inappropriate don't the usually get admonished enough by the masses to make them stop?
  13. The Traxxion Dynamics full Goldwing kit is $2,700 so the Ohlins kit doesn't sound too bad.
  14. If you actively work to negotiate laws that take away my freedoms you are a dick.
  15. I am far from a 1911 fan after carrying one for about four years but I didn't know I wanted this until just now. I need to remind myself to stay out of firearm threads. The STI perfect 10 - 6" slide 10MM

  21. How did you learn to keep the video from fogging up? Nice editing, you do good work and make everyone look like a rock star.
  22. I was at Pride of Cleveland and got to sit on Roy's new scooter before he rode it. He bought a BV500 just to make me jealous.
