  1. In most cases I'm trying to be a smart ass because I really don't care for cruisers after having one for three years but here is a serious question. Why would you want to increase the performance of a cruiser? Aren't they bought to not go fast but to be comfortable. Adding the ability to go faster on something that weighs 800lbs seems to me a bit dangerous when most cruisers don't have adequate brakes for the extra performance which they shouldn’t because they aren’t built to go fast.
  2. I also have an EXO-1000 and regret purchasing it even though I bought it at half price. I am sure it offers just as much protection as the Shoei but they are worlds apart in build quality and in my opinion not worth the money savings to put up with the little nagging inferior characteristics of the Scorpion.
  3. So that's why the twins weigh less they fit in a smaller space.
  4. I will admit to buying my ability to ride by doing track days. I thought I could ride before doing them but I was so wrong it can't be described. I used to constantly scare myself hoping the situation wouldn't turn out badly and by plain old dumb luck it didn't. I was seriously a menace to myself and others; thankfully I took the opportunity to do a track day. I now am able to ride somewhat faster and for sure way safer, no more hoping things will turn out okay. It's amazing what a little knowledge can do for someone.
  5. We are having a multiple thread I4 > V2 war going on today so expect to see sarcasm all over the place.
  6. I think you're right; those 848s should be competing with the 1Ks that should even things out.
  7. That thought has crossed my mind that's why I ride superior machinery to give me every advantage possible.
  8. If you've got more for speed riding that bike with those tires I got nothing for you. Us old guys are barely hanging on, these young kids are knocking at the door pretty hard. Every ride I go on the groups seem to have more and more very competent riders. It's kind of cool to see and the natural progression of things.
  9. Shut up bitch! From what I am able to understand of this situation is the weight penalty to the 848cc twins get won't change their performance because they are already over the minimum. It might change the 600cc I4s performance but not very negligible.
  10. I have seen that and at one time would have been real interested in doing it back when I was doing a lot of traveling when riding. I put 15K miles on a bike in 16 months and loved it. Right now I am more into riding the curvy back roads and that lake loop looks to be too much slab time for me. I may get back to that type of riding some day and give it a shot. I was made aware of that ride by one of the guys who participates in it a few years ago. I took a motorcycle scene accident management seminar from his wife and him. I figured I needed it because of how many accidents we seem to have on the sport bike rides. Since I have taken the course no one has been seriously hurt when I have been with them unlike the accidents that took place before I took the course that prompted me to take it. Are you Bill?
  11. Of course I blame others, it couldn't be my fault.
  12. Couple hundred more than I would have paid for one plus wouldn't have to worry about a lein on top of that.
  13. I had to keep searching the RPM range looking for some speed and never found it. There is no mistaking where it lives at in an I4.
  14. I've spent a few hours on a Super Duke riding RT60. While it is a fun bike (What non cruiser isn't.) other than banging off of the rev-limiter more times than I could count I recall that is didn't seem to be any faster than my 600 and heavier.
  15. I ride an I4 because I don't like to have as much fun on a bike as you hooligans do, I would rather go fast in the twisty stuff.
  16. That is a great route have fun, I am now certain not to have tires mounted by then because I didn't even get them ordered today.

  17. There would be no comparison because of the superior motor in the FZ1.
  18. I burned of what was left of last years tires this past weekend and I doubt that new ones will be mounted by the coming weekend. The scooter ride is the weekend after than but the weekend after than might be doable.

  19. And here is another one just in case you missed it MJ
  20. And I chose to ignore your highlight with an attempt at gender humor. Wrong, my example is from a college professor.
  21. Weren't we warned earlier in this thread about tempting fate by riding 666? We would have been okay but no we just had to turn around and ride it again.
  22. Not trying to be different but I like the second one better. The first one seems to be messed with too much and looks artificial.
