  1. so how does my Warrior stand? Is that Muscle or Sport Cruiser? Tell ya the truth ...I don't have a clue..I don't even know what a Warrior is.Not putting ya down..I am of the old school and have not kept up with the newer bikes..got a picture?
  2. Been on a few trips over the years....best advice is to have some good rain gear and warm clothes especially if ya hit the mountains..riding in rain is not soo bad but if you are cold:( it will make ya think why you are on a bike................don't get in a hurry, enjoy the ride, stop and see things along the way..oh yeah take pictures:Dnot just of your bike but what is around you..enjoy your ride..trust me you will get a smile on your face for years to come if you like the road......an old pic near Frisco but..
  3. Hey s-13 there are alot of older bike riders out there still plugging along..I am leading a small group of XS1100('78-81) riders all from around the cincinnati area to Madison IN next month. We had our first little ride last fall, only four showed but we have more saying they are coming this time..maybe ten..old muscle and cruiser bikes are still out there..we just like to keep it a secret:-) http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20163
  4. I am not a go fast rider:wheelchair: but have had days on the the bike where I go Ya know this just isn't any fun today. But then there are days like today when I left the house in rain and rode for an hour and a half with rain coming down off and on but every thing clicked..I made it home in one piece..saw one other bike..a Sportster. Watch out for the stop bars at lights..they seem to be slicker the past couple of years when wet.
  5. Every car, truck and motorcycle is a threat to you..they are not paying attention to you..talking on the cell, eating something, putting on make up or shaving..YOU may think YOU are visible but You may be in a blind spot,You may be they last thing on another drivers mind..when I drove a truck I thought people could see me...trust me it was worse driving a truck..who wants to get stuck behind a truck!!Just ride as tho you are invisible...
  6. Regretably we go thru this every year..I am an older rider and several in my group got hurt in accidents last year caused by cars and one hit some gravel..healing is slow and painful. But we also had several killed on local poker runs the past few years and MR.KAY from Webn...don't think it can't happen to you...trust no one around you...ride safe.
  7. Thats alotta miles Wolf, damn. :) That was 21 years ago....still proud of it today.Put a few on since. Some of us old XS1100 Yamaha riders(from the Cincinnati area) are getting our second SWOXS ride planned(May 17th) and it looks like Madison IN is the destination.I still have to do the pre trip but it looks like a river ride down with a spirited ride back thru the back roads but yet scenic..we are older and aren't peg scrapers:D..maybe a pipe or two:eek:....from our first ride..nothing special but we had a good time, only four of us but this time it is looking like ten.... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20163 The XS1100 was a pretty powerful bike in it's time..there are some that have been built and can kick some serious asz.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XvzJEau-Kk Old stuff I know but this is were I am at.......... Old muscle bike riders are still out there..we even have one gal who is joing us on her 1100....
  8. Ok guys this 10/22 is new to me,been near it and seems to be a popular destination for you sport riders. Now if I went down on my land yaught and found a place to pull over and enjoy the scenery would there be a lot of bikes going by on any given sunday so I could shoot a few pictures for the fun of it?Are there a bunch of scenic pull offs? I think it would be fun to shoot a few bikes doing their thing in a corner.
  9. and my prefered ride is about 22yo blonde. 120lbs. and real slutty. you know. actually anywhere i can open it up and go. I would be happy with a 50 year old with dyed blonde hair..I like the younger gals.........
  10. :scooter:Saw a few that got lost after the ride while I was working on Dunlap at East Miami........Looks like FUN..two up or a side car:) The only time I rode a scooter was in Bermuda and they drive on the wrong side of the road..let alone a traffic circle..top speed was 60 km..looked like a happy bunch :scooter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T7TZLDO-48
  11. I like roads that welcome me.. or take me to different places.. on roads that I don't have trucks, slow bikes or those who love to just cut the corners.. I want a road to take me to see something...
  12. RIP for the motorcycle rider..but the young gal whose car he hit,she was only 20..this is going to affect her for some time,so I feel sorry for both families. Were there kids on the bus and he was in a hurry cause it made constant stops? The two places you should ALWAYS be the most careful are around a school bus and a school zone..I could go on but being careful on 10/22 should be extended to every road you ride..don't let your testarone get the better of you...just cause you have the fastest whiz bang bike and gear...you don't have to try and prove it on the road..that is why there are race tracks.
  13. Lets get some patches holmes......... Ya mean something like this:eek: Are these things still floating around?
  14. Well did you guys notice that some of the white stop bars are wider than they used to be?There are soo many black rubber marks on these things..they are slicker than snot on a door knob.I was on Galbraith east bound at Cheviot,in the rain, stopped at the light, slight up hill and tried to take off real easy but I hit the white line and still slid sideways a bit..scared the crap right out of me..but I see a lot of rubber on these stop bars now..musta changed the paint.
  15. Why a Steppenwolf cover band:) they are coming out of retirement this summer for about 12 gigs,,QS&L is open. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-9iNVoeghI
  16. We are soo lucky here in Cincinnati we have soo many roads and directions to just go out and ride on and your choice of riding style.I have the fastest bike stopping at historical markers and little scenic pull offs. Go out rt 52 along the river, hit the ferry at Augusta Nice ride to KY..RT 8 to Maysville to the floodwall... Then cross back to OH and hit the Portsmouth flood wall If ya got a gal pal along stay at The Shawnee State Park Lodge while in Portsmouth..nice place. Dang we have soo much to see in the Cincinnati Tri State area..don't limit your self to strictly knee dragging roads....
  17. You make your own ride..don't let others tell ya how or where to ride..listen but do the ride that YOU wanna do.
  18. I have never been lost..been a might confused for a day or two tho... Bala..30 years ago I used to ride out where you live but now a lot of the roads are under water by the East Fork Lake :-) You can't get lost now days..seems like ya always hit a state route and so many people have a gps.But it is still fun to turn on a road just because..found this place last fall..can't find it on a map..Fizzleville Oh..don't have a clue about the place but I was there.
  19. I did a couple of Harley road tests along there... Can't find the pics of Dunlap RD on the hill the the teenagers called "Burn Out Hill" So dang many deers tho..great place to ride if not in a hurry..
  20. Yuppers I used to live on Day RD and Dunlap is the road with the gravel on the road coming down off a gravel drive right in a turn..just a short distance from Gosling.Sometimes it gets cleaned up by the county..I think the owner should be out there with a broom.. same way with these jerks who cut their grass and blow it into the road.Yeatman is cool but short and the gravel trucks that have their base there kinda hog the road.
  21. Near Cincinnati....on the north west side.
  22. steppenwolf

    slow???

Yuppers when I say I ride slow I mean it and put the kick stand down..
  23. Max,cool ya got 40 members here,,trying to get a ride together would be hard to do I would think for all parts of the state,I could help with something around the Cincinnati area but I would think that Columbus,Cleveland,Toledo etc.would best be served by their own rides around their own local area.Cincinnati area is easy..soo much around here with good roads I like nice gentle sweepers.. But as always I think people are so busy it is hard to get a group ride together...
  24. Need a little help here, this being the Cincinnati group, taking a group of us old bikes to Madison IN this spring, got a good route planned out,led them last year on a really nice ride ,met at New Richmond and took east RT.52,hit Point Pleasant, stopped at the dam, took the ferry to Augusta and then RT.8 to Maysville to the flood wall which is all scenic riding, the Rankin House in Ripley then 505 to 756 t0 222 to 50 to Perintown where we went our seperate ways.A good combination of scenic and a few twisties and easy to keep a group together..so question?? After reading a few comments on this board about NKY would like to get a fall run together for our little XS1100 Yamaha group on a bunch of back roads where we would have more or less a loop ride with few towns so we can stay together...not looking for the go fast type of ride just a great ride with scenery and good roads..I have heard of RT 10 but have not been on it...something in the 100 to 150 mile range...cple of riders have to ride 50 miles just to get to Cincy...any thoughts...the ride will be in the fall ...just old bikes with cane holders:)
