I may not "fully grasp" fracking on the level that you do, but I can sure a hell wrap my head around someone lighting his kitchen faucet water on fire, and understand that I don't want this anywhere near my house or anyone else's for that matter. Kasich understands profiteering above all else. Sure a few farmers in PA got rich for selling leases, does that mean they get to subsidize the hundreds or thousands of people using that water supply's new-found reliance on bottle water? The fracking company's sure as hell not going to... Why? Both produce jobs, both produce revenue. I'd argue that a casino has never caused an oil spill, is as environmentally neutral as building an office building, and can be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization. As for promoting individual wealth (vis-a-vis the land leases), grab a blackjack book and start counting cards. I have reservations about drilling as long as the company doing the drilling is held to a high environmental standard. There's enough fleshed-out technology for drilling that as long as the municipality is willing to hold the company accountable for leaks and spills, everything runs fairly well. I have a massive problem with fracking.
