Was is slipping at all before just sinking to the floor? I beieve those are cable operated, mabe the cable broke. smile.gif I would think that it should start slipping pretty bad before it just goes out on you.

Alex Alex Alex I am severely disappointed. Buick T Type and GN both have the V6 motor and a SINGLE turbo. tongue.gif

Pushrod Overhead Cam Engines and Other Newfangled Oddities...
GRN96WS6 replied to Dual Webers Suck's topic in Tech and Tips
Look "New 2.2 L ECOTEC Engine Cavalier's new 140-hp engine is engineered to deliver smooth, powerful performance with reduced exhaust emissions. It features state of the art components that are virtually maintenance-free. For instance, the chain-drive systems as well as the valvetrain with hydraulic lash adjusters are all durable for the life of your vehicle. So, you'll never have to worry about replacing them due to normal wear and tear. And to reduce maintenance even more, a new ignition cassette eliminates spark plug wires. ECOTEC is also known for its excellent performance and driveability. The full circle transmission attachment to the engine is more rigid than most 4-cylinder powertrains for reduced noise and vibration. Plus ECOTEC uses regular, unleaded fuel, not premium fuel. What's more, you'll get a much-appreciated EPA estimated 25 city, 33 highway miles per gallon in your LS Sport with the ECOTEC engine and manual transmission. And with the 4-speed automatic, you'll get EPA estimated 24 city and 32 highway miles per gallon." It nowhere says no spark plusg just says it uses no wires It uses some sort of cassette system. smile.gif -
Sheppard he rebuilds em for like $700 I think. Talk to turbotrio and TSI U FEAR they both had theirs done by him.

I liked mine for the first few thousand I had them and now they just seem to not be as sticky. And they are not even that worn so I know it is not from that. IMO I won't be buying them again I think I will spend a little more and get a little better tire. smile.gif
-
I don't know of any rims that are sticky Just go to Discout Tire or NTB and get price quotes from them based on what you want. I have the Kuhmo's and am satisfied with them although I don't think I will get them again as they slide a lot when cold. I may try the new ones they have out when these are done for. I would look into the BF Goodrich, or Yokohoma maybe.

Don't quote me on this but usually they are in the tranny or wheel.

I think my water pump is about to take a dump on me
GRN96WS6 replied to Jeffrey's topic in Tech and Tips
Jeff some members on COLS DSM have done it talk to them. I think that the waterpump is driven off the timing belt so might as well replace it while you are in there. I know Dan Weaver does some side jobs maybe talk to him and see about doing it one weekend. smile.gif -
It's a shift kit sounds like the previous owner put one in to firm up the shifts. It's not something to complain about. smile.gif

Basically it detects the wheel slipping by a sensor placed in the axle I imagine and kicks the throttle back at you. It's annoying as hell if you forget to take it off and try to launch at the track. That is a rough overview of it I'm sure Mark or Brett can go into more detail about it smile.gif

Sounds like tratction control to me. "Electronic Traction Control" smile.gif
-
Either try draining it and refilling the whole system or open one of the bleeder screws to see if there is any air in the lines. smile.gif

Stuff fits under the hood you just have to remove/move some stuff around first. It's all a matter of $$ like Sam said. If he gives a ballpark figure he wants to spend I'm sure we camaro/firebird people could come up with some viable options for him.
-
Like blupastu said it should just be on and off. Try his dumping clutch method and if that does not work maybe check the fuse. If that is not it, it might be something more complex like a part of the traction control system being bad.
-
I do believe that you need to remove the caliper before removing that nut otherwise it would be pointless. Like Montego7 said it is a large nut so you will need a large socket.

It's always so much cooler when the person drives in with their slicks in the back and pops off a few 10 or 9 second runs Priceless smile.gif

Joe(More Tools Than Columbus Racing) has a built C4 tranny for sale

LOL Alex and Kel that is some funny stuff

Can you drive to the track on those? Or would you need to swap them on at the track? I'm getting BFG Drag Radials soon, and just for the track... the reason is so I can just swap them at home, and drive to the track. But if these are legal and streetable...</font> Et Streets and Hoosier's can be driven on the street but do not get caught in the rain on them. They are a slick with little slits cut into them to resemble tread not exactly a street tire IMO. I would also not recommend running them on a stock f body rearend JMHO smile.gif

Howard, My Nitto's are not used that much but I could not get a sub 2 second 60' on them. I will account some of that to user error/new user, but I would think that they would hook a little better than that. I was getting 2.2ish on street tires and only 2.1's on Nittos something does not add up If you want treadwear to last then Nitto's are the way to go however I have always heard that the BFG's are stickier smile.gif Also heard Nitto's are better in the rain in case you get stuck out with them on.

I will have to agree with Joe's tohughts on this. My sentra has a known problem of popping out of 5th also and mine just started doing it. They says it is the idler gear that wears out and causes this. Maybe one day when I feel ambitious I will fix mine
