[quote=Johnny Bravo;1762523 I knew you'd chime in. (But what's up with the thumb down on the post?) . I was driving and typing. Dunno what happened there. Def thumbs up

Buy x50. K24 turbos will support the power you want and they are already in place so no need for turbo swap. Or find a car with turbo swap already. Stock k16's are good for around 500 crank before they are out of efficiency range so they won't cut it for criteria. K16g and 16/24 hybrids are common swaps and will also support the power you want. But why re-invent the wheel. X50 will have better resale too. Turbo S is x50 plus ceramics. All '05's are turbo s. Ceramic rotors are 2k each if they ever need replaced Metzger block is rock solid. Already told you about the coolant fittings in PM 997 only if you want gadgets and nicer interior. Interior is much better though. PDK transmission in 997 if you want to pretend its a Nissan video game car White is impossible to find.

Damn it!

I've been shopping this segment for the past 6 months...but I'm pretty focused on what I want and despite knowing how great C6 Z06's are it's just not my deal. It's by far the best performing car you can buy in that price range. Also, since I do all of my own mechanical work warranty isn't a big deal to me. You didn't mention if that was a requirement but it severely limits what you can get if warranty is needed. Maserati GranTurismo and Aston V8 Vantage would be on my radar but not for $50k. You're picking up a bottom of the market car to hit the $$$ point which would scare the crap out of me in either one of those cars. I have a friend with an early V8 Vantage and he loves the thing, it's been highly reliable for him so take that for what you will. You need to spend $60 for a good V8 Vantage and closer to $70 still for a GranTurismo 996 Turbo would also be high on MY list, maybe the winner when it comes down to practicality and minimal fear of owning something outside of warranty. The platform is proven and rock solid. I wouldn't personally own a highly modified turbo...give me exhaust and chip and maybe the K24's off of a GT2 drive the crap out of the thing. Been trying to talk my wife into daily driving one for the past 6 months she doesn't want something that "old"... whatever. Good news about this car is it's pretty much bottomed out in value. Pick up a $50k 996 turbo and 3-5 years down the road it's still worth damn near the same money. Spend $65-70 on a 996 GT2 and there is a strong possibility you get all or even more of your money back out of that car when you go to get rid of it. GT cars (GT2 and GT3) have been increasing in value lately not decreasing If warranty is a factor E92 M3 is the only car I'd consider. Nice, low mileage '11's can be had around $50k. hope that helps

makes my 4.95 lb battery look like a porker. Well done sir!
-
Oh snap you went with the tiny tiny one!!! What's that thing weigh, < 3lbs?
-
This was 2011 spec and done with 8500rpm - the new and hated (because it's not the Metzger motorsport block) standard GT3 engine is even more impressive at 375hp out of 3.8L with 9K RPM redline. The new RS may rev > 9k and make > 130hp/L. Should be a hoot...can't wait to get an opportunity to instruct in one of the new cars.

+1. We looked at a couple of out of the box ideas for our next house and decided it was too much of a headache.
-
Stop sale has been ordered...all of them recalled. Blaming it on a bad batch of bolts causing oil pump lines to come loose and dump hot oil directly on the cats. The new RS will be amazing. The lack of manual transmission will mean the value of my car will continue to go up
-
Mandatory actually. Must join PCA now, must come to track day in April or else the car will forever hate you and leak oil from front and rear main seals. So Done after the seats and roll bar or more plans? Different steering wheel?
-
This one will be much easier to sell when you tire of it. I think it's a much better choice if it checks out. What has CR come to we have two Porsche topics at the top of the passing lane right now.!!!

He'd be a good fit for one or more of the positions we currently have open at Expedient Data Centers but I'm not certain any of them are high enough paying positions based on his experience. All pretty much mid level network and engineering positions. http://www.expedient.com/company/careers-opportunities.php Other than Sales, Operations Support Center and the PM position listed for MD pretty much all of those opportunities could sit in the Columbus market for the right candidate despite being listed in various locations. No harm in him submitting his resume with us to have on file even if none of the open opportunities work out. We are a rapidly growing company and new opportunities pop up all the time. Please have him list yours truly (Andy Kutscher) as his reference when applying :-)

Let us know if that works out. You're correct market on a nice '97 C4S with 50k miles is right around $55-60k. Interested to see how this turns out.
-
Crazy. They've turned into collector cars not something *most* people aren't using. Can't touch a 4.0 under 300k right now, low mileage garage queens are $350-360
-
Yup. They announced no manual transmission for 991 GT3 and the 3.8 and 4.0 RS's went through the roof. Heck even my GT3 is worth 10k more in the current market than what I paid for it 3 years ago.
-
It's probably worth less because of the mods. Nice 964 Turbo's are in that range all day. 3.6 964 turbos (Bad Boys car) are 75-100k cars as are 993 turbo's too. Heck there's a 17k mile all original RS America on the market right now for $150k. Older Rare Porsche's are going through the roof currently as well as a couple current models.

If you don't intend on owning it that long I'd be concerned with your ability to re-sell an old track prepped Carrera. There is a surprising and strong market for nice air cooled cars, but not for track prepped air cooled cars unless it's specifically built to a PCA race class rules which that one does not appear to be. Honestly if you want the best driving experience you can get and don't intend on keeping it that long 996's have effectively bottomed in value. You can get a nice '99-01 3.4 car for $20k. There are certain air cooled cars that you could buy and even speculate that you could make money on them but you need to spend $40+ to get into something in that category.

Love it!!!

+1 got my Hamilton chrono in 2001 and as a matter of fact it's sitting on my wrist in the office today. Outstanding watch and great value.

216.6 this morning. Weight still coming off but slowly the last couple of weeks. Workout intensity continue to stay high, lots of legs which were an area I didn't give enough attention in the past. Measurements change every week for the better so no complaints. Ultimately for the lap times to see any improvement at the track I still want to be 185 in the end.
-
I'm going back and forth on this decision currently. Towing is the big factor for me. Sadly some of the newer V6 models are capable of towing quite a bit of weight AND are really economical when not towing. Boring to drive I guess is the down side to that. We're heavily looking at '11+ Cayenne V6's right now...and looking at '11+ Cayenne Turbo's. Not considering Cayenne Diesel at all. Would consider X5 Diesel if I could find the right buy on one...I've bid on a couple at the sale recently and been dumb founded what they have gone for.
-
Ahhhh. Thought rival was 140 for some reason. My bad.
-
Can't run the BFG rivals right? What is the hot tire for this event? Based on old lap times it should be relatively easy for your car to compete for the top of the podium if driven well.

Mercedes Feedback. We've owned our E55 for right about 5 years now. Honestly on the mechanical side it's been extremely reliable. It's really luxurious inside, has a nice soft ride, above average sound system and great features like active dynamic seats, massage function in the seats, etc. My only grip with the car is it's a little too luxurious for my liking thus it's not very involving to drive from a drivers standpoint though for a daily that's probably exactly what most of the target audience is after. It's not the best snow car though I sold my wife's winter beater and she's managed this winter on all seasons. A couple of times we've opted to leave it in the garage and carpool because she wasn't comfortable driving it but this is the first winter season I haven't put dedicated snow tires on it.
