  1. Great thread Ryan, I don't think alot of people really understand the time investment to really take something to that next level and make it as close to perfect as possible. Documenting as you go will be outstanding to watch. I still haven't got the Porsche done and I started it over a year ago . Worst part is every time I go to the track it comes back covered in rubber and the areas that are not yet complete get pushed back further and further. Oh well, enjoying them is half the fun. Andy
  2. I will be there, I believe I will be driving, but worst case even if I go with Smokey and don't drive I"ll still be there with my helmet communicators and will be willing to ride along and help if instruction is wanted / needed. Not to toot my own horn, but I took and passed Porsche Club's national instructor certification course a couple weeks ago so I'm officially highly qualified to help now.
  3. Those make great drivers. Need to add drop to your list..it could easily come down like 4"
  4. Juuuuuuuuunnnnnnnniiiiiiiiioooooooorrrrrrr!!! It was not only nice to see him win, but to do so without the aid of fuel mileage or creative pit strategy. He had the best car all day and won in convincing fashion
  5. Could be he sanded all the dirt out and went through the clear in the process, could have just left behind sanding marks that he didn't completely get out, Could be he didn't get them all the way out because he sanded too far and didn't want to polish through the clear. Anytime Sanding has been done you can rest assured you pretty much need to follow with at least 2 stages of paint polishing, usually 3 to really get the surface back to perfect. Could even need more sanding if he didn't finish with a fine enough grit of paper. Too many variables to really say for sure without just seeing it, esp on a car with a completely re-spray. I'd be more than willing to take a look at it for you, go over the problem areas and tell you wnat I think it needs to make them right. Andy
  6. While we're talking about tint, I will at least vouch for the fact that quality stood behind their work and was very good about warranty work. I had to have the drivers window fixed on the A4 almost 10 years to the day after I got it originally done and they didn't even bat an eye and fixed it right away. The rear window on the benz is bubbling and they quoted me what I paid for the whole A4 to re-do the rear window on the benz. Tint prices have apparently gone up!!!
  7. You already know what you need to know, come to track and get that thing dirty then you can teach your own academy the following week
  8. saw this at Auto Assets recently, good looking car. Good luck with the sale.
  9. This. I like mexico but it sometimes amazes me how expensive it can be in the touristy areas. Shit is cheap in mexico and shouldn't cost that much! Been to several areas soo far but I think Cabo is where I'd like to go next.
  10. I wasn't able to make putnam, but my brother and I are talking about this Nelson Date. If I"m there I'll bring my communicator and can instruct in-car for anyone looking for some help. Andy
  11. I've never see a car where there's suposed to be toe out at the rear...that's wierd to me.
  12. haha, The picture is deceptive. Car was washed but it's got rubber all over it from the last couple of track days. It won't be properly clean again until track season is over in october.
  13. I think the smallest they make is 18 x 8.5 and is 17.5 lbs. A litle tire stretch is good for tire performance as long as it's not extreme. You could run a 225 or 235 easily on that 8.5 without issue. The sport cup's I ran on my CCW track wheels last year were 235's on a 9" wheel.
  14. They should change their name to CrackStar. LOTS and LOTS of reports of their "Roatary Forged" series (they're cast damn it!) having issues. To be fair this is on heavier cars and the wheels are relatively light for what they are but I'd skip if I had to do it all over again. Just got done repairing one of the front's on the benz which we found to be cracked when flipping tires. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/100.jpg
  15. Have to find the wheel that's absolutely right for you. No worries about being picky I totally get it.
  16. 17. <$400 a wheel was a criteria. Kosei is the only one that would work if they even make it in the right bolt pattern
  18. NO What about Enkei NT03's? I think they're funky enough they'd look good on the car. I've never seen them on a car and not liked them in person. Only Silver or Hyper black but the hyper black might actually look right at home on your car.
  19. This job still in I&O or outside?
  20. Depends on the opportunity though. My wife took a job about 18 months ago with no guaranteed raise in salary and they screwed her with no pay increase at all when she got there. The hours are grueling, she works her tail off, BUT in the 18 months since she's been promoted twice (likely just sleeping her way to the top ) and doors have opened for her future that would have never happend in the old position. Sometimes it's not the opportunity up front but where that opportunity can take you that matters more.
  21. seeing as though we work in the same organization and I get exposure to other groups on a daily baiss that maybe you don't interact with as much...may I ask what position? Might be able to give you my $.02 Andy
  22. I'm not huge on sports cars in black, but I really dig the look. Those tc105N would be completely on-point for the car too. Enjoy it man....like many others I hope to catch up with you sometime soon because I'd really like to go for a ride in this thing. Andy
  23. I leave work in a few min. You send them the check and I'll pick it up for you :-)
  24. Yes, still detailing. I hate seeing new cars molested from the dealer for no good reason though. It's never a fun feeling detailing a brand new car that needs all sorts of correction work. I Detailed a 335i with 60 miles on it last year that was a nightmare from improper care at the dealer.
  25. O.Z. Alleggerita HLT would be my choice. The whole theme of the car is light light light, get the lightest wheel you can within your budget. Probably too late but I wouldn't let them wash / prep a black car at the dealer.
