  1. 93 cobra is very cool, rolling around on road race rubber even better. Tell us more about how you like to use the car? Andy
  2. Wife and I were at the race in 2010. One of those bucket list things for me and despite crappy seats it was still an amazing experience. We managed to get right next to the grid for the start of the race. You don't have to spend big $$$ to still attend and have a good time and take in the atmosphere.
  3. What polisher did you get?
  4. You can get some stuff at paint stores but it's hit or miss and usually 3M stuff which I'm not a huge fan of. Better ordering online from some place like autogeek or detailed image. Lake country pads are my favorite for foam Andy

    Allergies

Alergy shots. I am allergic pretty severely to just about everything and have asthma on top of that. I breath soo much better on shots it's not funny.
  7. In a performance setting tires at full tread depth have several issues including tread squirm and they easily overheat and start chunking at full tread depth. Shaving them can actually increase performance AND life of the tire. ...don't think anyone locally can do it though.
  8. what size / offset are the wheels? how low is the car? tire brand will also make a difference as some are more squared than others. My B5 wears 19 x 8.5 et35 wheels, tucks tires ever so slightly front and rear. Can generally run 235/35/19 with minimal rubbing if I run something with a rounded sidewall like a Toyo or Nitto. Last set I had was Sumitumo HTRZ III's and they were really square and rubbed quite a bit. Completely rubbed the sidewalls of the rears smooth from rubbing the fender. Thankfullly never went all the way through them. The older version of the Sumitumo ( II vs. III) is more rounded and what is slated to go on the car this year with hopefully much less rubbing than the prevous combo.
  9. GT3 is back on the road after 3 weeks with the motor out to fix the coolant fittings. Buttoned it up friday and drove it as much as possible this weekend. This evening washed it and polished all the rubber marks off of it from track days last year
  10. Agree other than Pilot sport cup's. They require a TON of heat to really work, they suck when cold. I did a track day last year on the cup's in ambient temps lower than 50 degrees and could not get them up to temp to get sticky even in a full 30 min session.
  11. Sooooo does this stuff actually protect somewhat like a clear bra would? I've seen similar products advertised as a means of protecting your car at track days, wasn't using the same name but I'd bet it was the same principal. Dare I try this on the GT3 to protect it from the track? ...my biggest problem is I really enjoy perfectly polished and mile deep paint. I'm torn because of this.
  12. I named all of my neighbors before I even met them. The names have stuck. "The Todd" right across the street. - Very much actually like The Todd character from scrubs. His wife must hate him 'cause he's never allowed to be in the house. He's in the garage all the time including freezing cold winter days he's just chilling out there happy as can be "Talky" - Gossip's about everything. Always knows everything about everyone on the street. "Hot Cop" - Older, hot, cross fit cometitor. She's a federal marshall so that's where cop comes into the equation. "Gay Matt" - don't really know if he's gay but he will for ever be branded "Firefighter" - pretty straight forward "Pick-up Man" - New guy, rugged, rough around the edges drives a pickup. "Lawn Guy" Spends way too much time on his yard and decorating for holidays. My dog loves to shit in his grass though. I do pick it up, but find it amusing. There's a couple more, they may not be politically correct.
  13. no doubt. For my cars that get driven hard I've run Redline in the past but I've been seriously considering switching over to Motul 300v this year. Both are ester based but I've been reading really good things about the Motul lately that has me tempted to switch. The nice thing about Redline is you can get it at Jegs. Whoever was asking about 0w40 Mobil One Walmart carries it and it's dirt cheap there (~$6.50). That's what I run in the A4 and Jetta.
  14. There's no substitute for getting the surface bare (light polish) and getting a good base coat of something synthetic and long lasting down. From there it should be easier to maintain and you can use one of the spray products after each wash to help boost longevity of the base coat. Text me this evening I think I've got something perfect for it that's just been sitting in my cabinet not getting any love. Andy
  15. The very first ear buds they releaed quite a few years back, They didn't have any ear clips like the newer Bose units I see and were meant to sit in your ear without being wedged in there like most ear buds. It could very well be that I could never get them to sit in my ear as desgned but no matter what ear piece I tried with them nor what orientation I wore them in I never cared for the sound quality at all. ...and forget working out in them they would never stay put. http://www.digitallyapproved.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/bose_earbuds.png
  16. It's almost always the cord for me. Between being shoved in my pocket all the time with the cord plugged into the device or getting tangle up in the buffer (oops!) I usually destroy the cords first. I've broken a coupe of pairs from throwing them around or what not but almost always it's the cord. As inconvenient as they can be, I much prefer over the ear headphones to ear buds. Reading up on the ATH-M50's posted above and they are pretty tempting. Around what I'd be willing to spend and I have yet to read a bad review on them. Those were not even on my radar so thank you for the suggestion. Andy
  17. Grados are pretty damn amazing, probably the best pair of headphones I've ever experienced but they simply don't work for my day to day needs becasue they are all open air. I need something that sounds awesome, I can listen to while sitting at my desk at work without disrupting others, I can wear while detailing to keep the buffer noise from makng my ears ring, etc. I'm pretty darn hard on headphones but don' mind spending some money to get some performance out of them. My last pair was a pair of Sennheiser HD 428. I literlly just had them break on me this week after a couple years of hard use. I'm pretty pleased about that and tempted to go for another pair of Senn's. Problem wth the Sennheiser brand is they make a million different headphones, there's something for everyone's budget but the line is soo vast that it's hard to tell them apart sometimes. My personal opinion is you have to at least get into the HD 4xx series before they are even worth a damn though. I got in at the lower level of the 400 series and they were great for what I needed at only ~$80. I'm tempted to step up to something a little higher in their line this next go around. As much as I'm not a huge fan of Bose, their standard Triport (over the ear not the buds) headphones are pretty good, maybe not $150 good and out of the box they requre some tuning with an EQ to really get rid of the bottom heavy setup, but once tuned in they provided good performance. The flip side of that is I had a pair of Bose ear buds once and they were honestly the worst pair of headphnes I've ever owned. Sound was HORRIBLE on those things and I mean horrible. Maybe I'll give the Sony's a go this time to see what I think
  18. http://www.andymobiledetail.com/services.htm We did the long lasting optimum opti-coat on Rich's M3 as well which is +$100. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99830 PM me for more specifics if you'd like. Andy
  19. She doesn't get enough credit for what she does sometimes. Interiors can be a real pain in the ass and in some cases downright disgusting. Thanks for the compliments all.
  20. I saw you struggle for traction all day and kept hoping for you to be able to make a pass where it actually hooked. I saw this pass from the far side of the pits and though it looked like it actually stuck that time but couldn't see the board o see the result. VERY nice job on that one. Andy
  21. Rich, Thanks for having us out to bring her back up to spec. I wish I would have taken a 50/50 shot of the roof half done as it really showed how dramatic the difference was. Andy
  22. 'Benz went 12.66@114. Snow tires actually didn't hook too bad Good to see and chat with many of you Andy
  23. nothing really is the worst part. Welding up all the stupid coolant fittings that are press fit with epoxy from the factory that fail as they get age and heat cycles on them. Had to be pulled all the way down to the long block to get them all off of there. Tinman has them as we speak. ...I am installing the new GT3 RS 4.0 flywheel (8.5lbs) and clutch while I'm in there just because I felt like I had to get something out of all of the effort.
  24. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to get the street tires mounted I just don't know if I'll have time. Been a little consumed with a "little" project lately. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/GT3.jpg
