  1. Sucks, but at least you had a head on your sholders to know what was going on and shut it down. These things happen.
  2. Great car, I know this one really well, I actually considered trading my '99 for this one several times while they had it up there at Auto Assets. It's just getting broken in at 150k miles, mine will probably pass 200k this summer, still on the stock drivetrain including turbo. Andy
  3. Congrats, and props to growing the business. Doesn't have to happen over night, baby steps are sometimes the best. I really dig the new name. I can't stop thinking about those candy apple red calipers on the DSM, when I get some time this spring the E55 calipers are totally coming off the car to get that treatment. Andy
  4. I want to go soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad, everyone I know that wants to go, including my wife, is bitching out because it's a Monday night. Like we're grown up and have responsibilties or something???
  5. A Gallardo...or a TT one? There's pleanty of "regular" Gallardo's around town. I should be detailing an orange one in a few weeks, and I have a friend that owns two of them.
  6. E55: Amsoil 5w-40 or Redline 5w-40, OEM filter M3: Castrol motorsport 10w-60, OEM filter A4: M1 0w-40 winter, Amsoil 5w-40 summer, Mobile1 filter.
  7. iRacing....and no other. It took me forever to switch over from rFactor to iRacing because of the costs of iRacing, but it's the most fun, realistic, challenging "thing" I've ever done. Finally got around to setting up the h-pattern shifter for my playseat / G27 combo and it adds yet another element to the whole experience.
  8. BMW's gonna gain 3mph on the top end when I'm done polishing it....better get the Evo lined up for a detail too if you want to win
  9. Can someone recommend a reputable source to do some subfloor repair in my home. May or may not require re-framing a door as well. It would appear as though the seal on our rear door has been slightly leaking, un-noticed, for some time now. In the process of looking to have the carpet replaced we found that the subfloor is water damaged and needs to be repaired. It may be a bit more tricky in that the damage extends under the door frame itself as well. Damage seems to be isolated to maybe a 3' x 1' area but may be tricky to repair because of where it is. I need someone out to look at this and get it repaired this week. I got in the crawl space last night and there's no water running down the wall in the basement or anything, damage seems to be pretty isloated but needs fixed and the leak addressed before we replace the carpet. If you've got anyone you know that can do this type of work please respond here or PM me. Thank you, Andy
  10. Kids were never really a priority for us or our marriage. We said we'd have a serious talk about kids at 30 and at that point kids were still not on the radar. Really the only time we ever thought that it might be a mistake was when Yasmin had to get chemo and was told she more than likely will never be fertile again. Things get put into a different perspective when you are told you no longer have a good chance at that option. Right now we've still got 3.5 yrs until she's done with the meds and we'd even be allowed to try to have children, but even then I think our decision would still remain the same. We've come to terms it'll likely just be us and the dogs and are both happy with life and grateful for what we have now.
  11. For the most part I agree with this, however large wheels with short tires do not fare well against the winter conditions of our roads here in the Midwest. It's a vicious cycle of crap weather followed by emerging holes all over the road until it gets nice enough to fix everything up again. I'd much rather switch out the nice wheels in the winter so they don't get messed up and if I'm already going to that effort why not run a dedicated winter tire anyhow since that's the only time those wheels will be on the car. (5 months for me) Not completely necessary, but if you're running two sets of wheels in the first place why not. I highly doubt the 285/25/20's on the rear of my wife's benz would have been enough to save the wheels from destruction with some of the holes we've got in the roads right now.
  12. Falken 452's on the Benz. Not a bad tire, I really don't have enough miles on them to tell you for certain though. I have no complaints right now Sumitumo HTR Z III's on the Audi. I actually really enjoy this tire. Quiet, pretty decent stick, still good in the wet. I must have 13-15k miles on them easily and they've still got pleanty of life left in them. Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's on the M3. Don't like them at all, soft side walls, tall tread, really squirmy and don't feel planted at all. Should have gotten PS2's. If money is no object I'm not sure there's a better street tire out there than PS2's. For a fraction of the cost I've been very happy with the Sumitumo's on the Audi though.
  13. Our prices here are the one thing that sucks about Scotch. I try to buy as much as possible whenever we're in the Caribbean. I bought Smokey a bottle of Swing last time we were in St. Martin and paid like $30-35 for it, also paid $115-ish for Johnny Blue there.
  14. Late to the party here. My brother (Smokey) got me into Scotch a few years ago and it's about all I drinik these days. The Glenlivet 15 yr French Oak is, in my opinion, hands down the best bang for the buck out there. You stated you don't like smokey and you want smooth and this one is right up your alley. At $45-50 it's the best money you can spend on scotch in my opinion. I've got a few friends that swore they wouldn't drink scotch but after having a pour of the French oak 15 year are now fans. If budget permits, along the same lines as far as enjoyment and flavor but even smoother is Chivas 21 Royal Salute. I prefer Royal Salute over Johnny blue any day. My go-to out at bars because it's easy to drink and not too expensive at the bar is Glenlivet 12. but if you're buying a bottle to enjoy at home don't cheap out on a 12yr. Other notables - Johnny Blue is a unique experience. You've got to at least try some. Once you taste it you'll always be able to pick it out of a crowd. Very distinctive, very smokey. Glenlivet 21 - Wive got me this for christmas last year. It's VERY much like Macallan 18 in my opinion. LOTS of flavor, smooth but doesn't seem as smooth as some of the others because of the power of the flavors in the scotch Macallan 18 - Another you really have to try, tons of flavor, a unique experience Anything above $250ish is too rich for my blood.
  15. Yes and no. You just need to evaluate what works best for you. We knew there were risks with the 80/20 that in the event of a major issue we would be responsible for a really big bill, but we always looked the other way thinking that would never happen to us. It really was financially taxing when we had to face it. As long as you're aware of what it's going to cost you if there's a major medical event in your future and are aware of that possibility you just have to determine what's the best solution for you. Certainly an 80/20 is worlds better than not having any insurance at all. I think our combined Monthly bill previously was like $160/ month for our health insurance. Paying $500 a month now frustrates the hell out of me.
  16. Correct...and most of those clearly state their out of pocket max which seems kinda low. Ours was like "$8750" or something like that but we only had an initial deductible of like $1k. so right there combined you're at $10k. Add up all the Dr.'s visits at $30 a pop, the stuff that wasn't covered by the insurance and all of a sudden the bills are out of control. Here's a good "for instance". Yasmin has her surgeries done (yes two because they didn't get all the cancer tissue the first time) and the Surgeon was in-network, however the surgeon's assistant was NOT in-network. We challenged the decision on the part of the insurance company to not cover the assistant's costs. They came back and covered some of them but not all leaving us with a bill to pay. It's really all a big billing game with everyone in the medical community. We got alot of stuff that was not initially covered eventually paid for, some of it not, some of it was waived. It all adds up in the end though rather quickly.
  17. You should always consider worst case scenerio to see if it's worth picking a better plan. For 8 years we had an 80/20 plan through Anthem that met our needs for the most part. We never really looked at what total out of pocket would be NOR read the fine print, it was the option that best met what we thought were out needs at a reasonable price through my employer. In '09 when my wife was diagnosed with cancer we quickly realized how short our insurance coverage falls when there's a major life event that happens. All in all between stuff that wasn't covered, total out of pocket caps, etc I was out of pocket >$15k in less than 6 months in '09. It's the reason I no longer have a bright red car in the garage We're still fighting with the insurance company 2 years later over bills that they still do not want to pay and have another $4-7k looming that we may have to pay before the whole ordeal is through. We switched to Anthem but through her provider now to a plan that coveres 100% of everything, only out of pockets are office visits and perscriptions. It's ~$500 a month for just the two of us but it's a necessary evil now that her good health will never be a certanty.
  18. I thought the 2 car drafting thing kinda sucked. You watch restrictor plate races on the super speedways for huge tight packs, not for a loosely bunched pack. NASCAR shouldn't have put the restrictions on cooling. If they could have stayed hooked up lap after lap pushing the whole way we would have see a much bigger pack and alot more action. As it was you still got wrecks but it was becasue the only way to go fast was to push someone the whole way around the circuit and the slightest little mistake and the guy out front was done for. The racing just didn't do it for me. I think at one point the first 6-8 cars were running together and you had to go back nearly 20 seconds to get to the next car. On a road course fine, on a super speedway no thanks. I was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. I pull for Jr. by default but actually find myself pulling for Montoya more than anyone these days. I think Montoya best represents what Dale Sr. did in his day other than the fact that he has no pull in the garage area with the other drivers. Kyle Bush is probably the best raw talent in the garage these days which I can appreciate but he's such a whiny bitch otherwise that I can't stand him. The Dale Earnhardt tributes were cool but completely over the top at the same time. The whole place being silent and putting 3 fingers in the air on the 3rd lap was ok, the 3 on the grass in the infield was nice, but every time Michael Waltrip or Dale Jr were referenced we don't need to heaer about Sr. as well. Let the man rest.
  19. not bad, not my taste. Car needs to come down about 2" and it would be much better.
  20. I can appreciate the stanced look in the correct application. ....however I liked the blades better
  21. Tell me some of you have seen the skit on Tosh.0 titled "Everything's cooler with a Fisheye lens" Totally funny...it's on comedy central's site somewhere and applies here.
  22. PCA is the most laid back, relaxed, non-stereotypical group out there in my opinion esp the Mid ohio and Northern ohio chapters. BMW club is where all the assholes are. That's why I continue to participate heavily with PCA despite no longer being a "snobby" porsche owner
  23. I'm in agreement with you here. Even my Audi isn't a quattro. Heck my wife daily drives our E55 through all of this crap. Yes it's got snow tires but it's rear wheel drive and makes nearly 500 ft/lbs at the wheels and she has yet to have any issues in the bad weather.
